“Beautiful cottage experience!”
We really enjoyed our 2 week stay at Doorian Gray. The cottage is located on a beautiful lot and close to the lake for swimming. We enjoyed sitting on the large porch at the huge table reading our chatting and watching the world go by! In terms of recommendations, the lock box was difficult to use and we would have benefited from a fan in each room as it was a very hot 2 weeks . In addition, the front room really needed to have a blind on it as it was in full view of the street. The cottage was neat and tidy and very decorated in a very interesting way. We loved the beautiful large livingroom and deck and spent many hours there as well as on the beach nearby. As a result, of this lovely 2 weeks, we have bought a cottage in the area since we loved it so much :) Many thanks for sharing your lovely cottage with us!
“Clean and comfortable”
Great décor and very comfortable beds. Beautiful grounds and great beach close by. Very clean and a wonderful deep bathtub. Frying pans were not useable.
Cottage was as described. We went as a family, 2 adults, one child. Close walk to beach was convenient. Beach is semi private and most days we had it to ourselves. It has a gradual entry, although somewhat rocky within the water. There is not much to do except lounge at the cottage or beach. So if you're looking for night escapes this may not be the place. We spent evenings at the fire pit. Be sure to make a day trip or two to Balm Beach (15min) for a beach getaway. Only knock against this property was the seating within the cottage. It was not very comfortable.
“Wonderful family holiday”
The cottage is charming, creatively decorated with a joyful ambiance. Rooms are spacious and clean and the outdoor area is delightful. The cottage is within 20 minutes of shopping and other amenities, so no need to lug a large supply of groceries or necessities. Close walking distance to the beach. Quiet, family oriented neighbourhood. You might want to bring your own coffee maker. The one supplied makes a good pot of coffee, but takes a long time to brew.
“This cottage exceeded our expectations”
The cottage itself was beautiful - very clean, with a unique decor theme. It was very close to the beack - which was very clean, and not at all crowded. It would have been nice to have a dishwasher at the property, and it would have been nice to be able to use the fireplace. The check-in time was a little bit awkward - not really early enough to enjoy the day at the beach, or really do much more than arrive and get unpacked before dinner.
“It was ok but I wouldn't rent it again.”
The beach was no good--we walked several hundred metres out and it was still rocky and shallow. All our feet were so sore after that trek out and back that we didn't go back to the beach for the whole week. We drove to Balm beach every day instead. The cottage didn't have curtains which meant that we didn't get to sleep in past 630am, which didn't make it a very restful holiday. Couldn't text as there was no cell reception. However, it was clean and quiet.
“A Series of Unfortunate Events.”
From the pictures the place looks great, but you don't really notice that in the first shot of the cottage their neighbour is in the background. The cottage itself is nice and the beds are fine, but the couch, although great to look at, is not that comfortable. My wife was pregnant at the time and we would have appreciated a place to just lounge on the rainy days. Through no fault of the owner, the week we were there there was a massive amount of construction and the entire cottage literally shook as new roads were being built. The outdoor fire pit is in the front yard overlooking the road instead of being private and the beach isn't quite as close as described. It's a very nice place to visit, but it's not the private get away we were hoping for.
