“Step-off-the-world Week”

Reviewed 5 May 2014

Chris's Ranch provided the haven of peace and tranquility that we'd aimed for when booking. The cabin is spacious and homely with the most magnificent views across the Sound of Mull. It is well equipped and comfortable - fantastically hot water for great, deep baths looking at the stars via the skylight! Everything was just as described, no problems at all. The location was superb, this is the West of Scotland at its best - wild, quiet and natural. The bird feeders hanging from the tree outside the ranch provided plenty of visitors to watch on quiet days when you just wanted to stay put and watching the weather change is fascinating in itself. The ferry to Mull is a few minutes away and we took the car to drive around the island - well worth the visit, great wildlife spotted including three Golden Eagles! Also with visiting is the ardnamurchan lighthouse. Kilchoan is a tiny village with one shop which was great for top-ups during the week. Top tip - do a week's shop in supermarket in Fort William before catching the Corran Ferry to the peninsula. If you want to step off the world for the week and leave the hustle and bustle of daily life behind you, this is the place for you! We loved it!

“well equipped but no view”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2013

We are long term visitors to the area which speaks for itself. The house is comfortable and well equipped with a big open plan living and dining area with a wood burning stove. There is a large verandah with a table and chairs and barbecue and 2 other picnic tables in the garden. It has WiFi and a dishwasher. Large covered area at the back for bikes. The only downside was that the house sits at the end of a very bumpy road and the view is obscured by the surrounding trees. I will certainly return to the area but am more likely to choose one of the other Steading properties
