- Very Good
We stayed for a week. The weather didn't really cooperate with us but other than that we were very happy with the cottage. It is lovely inside and out and very comfortable. It was very quiet and we seldom saw or heard either of the neighbours. Each evening we sat down by the lake to enjoy the sunset and the waves coming in. When the weather was good for swimming we did so. Although it is a rocky shore, and probably not great for young children, with water shoes on we had no trouble getting in the water. We would definitely consider going back.
“Lovely cottage, but ill equipped.”
I have used rentcottage about 10 times and always find their service outstanding. Aruna Shores is a really lovely cottage in a great setting. I liked that it had a number of places to sit; deck, lawn, sand beach and fire pit.The swimming was good. The hot tub was a great feature. It was not working properly when we arrived, but with a few phone calls someone came out to fix it and the owners gave us a rebate on the extra rental fee. This was very much appreciated. The bunkie looks charming, but it still was a musty bunkie and the people sleeping there did not sleep well. In addition to the musty smell the bed was a mattress on planks. Our big disappointment with this cottage was how ill equipped it was. There are 5 beds and only 2 blankets provided! (no duvets etc)The kitchen needs more supplies. There was no potato peeler, measuring cups, serving spoons etc and only cutlery for 7. This meant hand washing after every meal, in spite of the dishwasher! My other experiences with cottages in this area was that they were accurate in stating what they supplied. I would still recommend this cottage, but as a 2 bedroom only and be prepared to bring your own kitchen and bedroom supplies.
“In town for a wedding and two family vacation”
We were in town for a wedding that took place in Lion's Head and wanted to stay in town after the wedding to explore the area and vacation a little. After a long search for a house we finally settled on this one, because it had a yard for our 4 year old and 19 year old to run around in, as well as access to water and a nearby beach (10 minute drive). It also has a large bath tub and a hot tub for the adults (hot tub requires extra fee of $100). Overall, the house worked for us, but I am not sure that I would stay there again. Please see below for the pros and cons: Pros& Cons: -large partly shaded yard for kids to play in (however the grass was fried when we got there so it wasn't soft on the feet) -decent kitchen with old, but working microwave, dishwasher, stove and fridge -Large bath tub for washing multiple kids at a time (but it is elevated and the small wooden stairs leading up to it are dangerous to walk down when wet or holding a child. Also, they don't supply towels. -The washer works fine, but the dryer is really almost useless, as it is so small that it barely dries anything. After doing a load of laundry, we had to break up our wet clothes into several batches to be able to dry anything. We literally had to dry one or two towels at a time. This puzzled me, as it looks like a nice new modern dryer. -Hot tub was nice, but I don't think you should have to pay an extra $100 to use it, as the house is already on the expensive side. -The access to the lake is great, as it feels more like an ocean front than lake. However, it is too cold and rocky for little kids. We did lots of runs in the area and jumped into the cold afterwards which was really refreshing, but you really have to drive 10 minutes or so to get to a beach that is warm, shallow and rock free enough for kids. -big grill didn't work at all so we had to use the other dinky one which increased cooking time with kids. -lovely sunsets -Great fire pit for smore making!
I have used RentCottage.com before and have never had a problem.
