Wonderful setting on a small sandy beach. Beautiful sunrises and we saw a few sea turtles while snorkeling! We had a great time.
“Great location right on the beach”
In all our visits to Hawaii, we have never had such a location right on the beach. The cottage had all necessary amenities, including a kitchen and screened-in patio where we enjoyed sunrise each morning with our coffee. Perfect for small family or retired couple like us. Would book this unit again.
Response from the owner Thanks for the lovely review Dolores! The proximity to the beach is exactly why I like this location and what I try to convey to guest inquiries. I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed the screened in lanai at sunrise every morning! I heard wonderful comments about you and your husband from the owner next door too, and I hope you will come back and stay here on your next trip to Hawaii.
This cozy cottage was perfection! The pictures don't do the view any justice. The beach is one of the best I've been to. We enjoyed swimming, snorkelling, and laying out. The sunsets were incredible and the cottage had everything you could possibly need for cooking, and spending the day on the beach. All we did was buy groceries! Karon has even thought of everything. There were times we realized we needed personal essentials and later found them in the cottage. Next time we know to look first! The patio is the best thing about this cottage. We spent late nights in there enjoying the sound of the waves and the days that it rained we enjoyed it even more. It's very close to grocery stores and restaurants. Our favorite was Longs and Aloha Shrimp. It is also very close to the Polynesian Cultural Center and many other beaches. The location is so perfect because it's away from all the tourists and traffic. It's just a quiet spot to relax and take in the beautiful views. We also went on a hike to The Pill Box and man was it worth it. The views up there are out of this world. The only con I would say is the parking. They don't allow reverse parking! It's tough getting into the parking spot at times plus there's a bush right behind it. But none of that would keep us from returning again! I searched many others but this one is the one we will be returning to year after year! Thank you, Karon, for everything you did to accommodate us!
Response from the owner Thanks so much for the wonderful comprehensive review. This is my favorite cottage to stay in too! Although I haven't been on the hike you are referring to, I have many guests who enjoy it and I love hearing about where my guests go and what they enjoy doing, outside of Waikiki. I hope you will return, year after year....you are always welcome back!
“LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION”
If you are looking for the perfect spot on the ocean than this is the place. You are literally as close to the waves as you can get. You hear them and smell the salt air. You can watch the sunrise from your bed. If the weather decides to change just sit in the glass walled sunroom and watch the storms roll in. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need to cook meals in and eat out on your own private screened room. A small grocery store 10 minutes away and a larger one 20 minutes. You are South of the North Shore where the big waves and surfing competitions are during the winter. Close to many ocean side parks which have rest room facilities and picnic tables. Close to eating places and local food trucks. The best we found was the BBQ truck up on the hill under the wind turbines with panoramic views of the coast. The Polynesian Culture center is near by and you should definitely spend the day there learning about the other islands cultures. With your ticket you can go back as much as you want in the following 3 days which we did. Too much to see in one day We spent 2 wonderful weeks in our little cottage by the sea with the best picture window I ever had. We highly recommend this place. Karon the owner is very helpful and answers immediately if you have any questions. Aloha.
Stayed here for two weeks late January- early February. Had a wonderful time relaxing, reading, sunning and swimming in the calm water. The beach area is nice for small kids and those that do not want to fight big waves!! Easy in and out of the warm water! I found a great hike at Hauula Loop Trail - very beautiful even in the pouring rain! Not too much in the way of restaurants near the cottage but the full kitchen makes preparing your own meals nice. The screened in lanai was awesome too- iit made the cottage seem really big! The only thing that could have made my stay a little nicer would have been a little less rain!! Come on Mother Nature!! I would stay here again!
“Week of swimming with turtles”
We returned 2 days ago from staying in cottage R-2. Beautiful patio to have meals, short few steps to the beach and nice friendly community of vacationers and locals. Comfortable like a home. Had most of the chairs and beach stuff to have a great beach experience. We swam and snorkeled everyday many times with the local turtles. Beaches are quiet and safe. Karen was great to deal with.
“Great location and cute cottage”
My family of five stayed here for a week in July 2013. We all loved the open air patio only steps away from the ocean. It was amazing to stay so close to a private beach. Never a crowd, and many times we had the entire beach front to ourselves. We loved the patio for our meals. The location is ideal if you want to visit North Shore. Pro tip... If you want to see Turtles... You have to go Laniakea beach!! We must have seen 40 very large turtles when we were there. Check out Laniakea beach on yelp.
“A great Hawaiian get-away!”
It was a clean, comfortable cottage. Nicely decorated (in local Hawaiian décor) with attention to the little things that make a place seem more homey. Great location. Close to a beautiful beach and nice grassy area with convenient parking. Security was visible and maintenance kept the yard clean. Even though we were close to the ocean, the waves did not pound on the beach which didn't disturb out sleep. A truly great place to spend a week of rest and relaxation.
