Description
Hillside House is located on a small, exclusive development (Gemstone Village) nestled in the scenic hills surrounding the historic village of Choirokoitia.
The property has been finished to the highest standards with marble kitchen surfaces, granite flooring and high-quality fitted wardrobes. Downstairs is open plan with a WC. The living room runs into the kitchen/dining area and out onto a good-sized private terrace (with lovely views of the rolling hills and picturesque village of Choirokoitia).
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms and private balconies. Each bedroom offers scenic views of the surrounding hills and fields.
The property has been furnished tastefully and contains everything you need to make your holiday go smoothly. The kitchen is equipped with a high-spec hob, oven, fridge/freezer and washing machine. The living area offers a wide-screen TV,DVD/CD player and Ipod docking station. Each room is air-conditioned.
The house has been constructed and equipped to make it as energy efficient as possible - all the windows and doors are UPVC/double glazed; solar panels heat the water, a water meter has been installed, the WCs all have a short flush option and all the electricals have an 'A' energy efficiency rating.
The development (Gemstone Village), which is made up of some sixty properties, has a real village feel. At the heart lies the magnificient 23m-long swimming pool (with jacuzzi) and a children's pool. The pool area has a kiosk (seasonal) and is a free wifi zone.There is also a park, children's play area and a tennis court.
Hillside House is the perfect base for anyone wishing simply to relax by the pool away from the crowds, and/or explore all the wonderful attractions Cyprus has to offer. The area surrounding the house is great for walking and cycling. Larnaca, Limassol and Nicosia are all just 30 minutes away by car, and the renowned Governor's Beach and Zygi marina are but 10 minutes' drive.
Hillside House is a great place to stay if you want to sample delicious Cypriot food. There is a wonderful family restaurant on the edge of the development (serving Meze) and a number of other excellent establishments within a 5 minute drive (a list of recommendations can be provided). A first rate supermarket is also just 5 minutes drive away. But you can just walk up the hill and buy fresh olives and olive oil from the local press, as well as purchasing local oranges, lemons, homemade halloumi and anari cheese from the friendly villagers. Absolutely delicious!
Further details
A £100 non-refundable payment is required at the time of booking, with the balance due six weeks before the start of the rental. A refundable breakages deposit of £150 is payable with the final balance. This will be refunded within two weeks of your return home (subject to a property inspection by our local representatives and the return of the keys). The deposit is to cover any major damage to the property or its contents.
The cost of using the air-conditioning units is included in the overall rental price.
Payment can be made by cheque of bank transfer.

Each bedroom has its own private balcony. Also, the dining area opens out on to a private patio/terrace, which is the perfect place to relax in the day and enjoy the scenic views, or have a glass of wine and look at the stars at night.

“Second stay as good as the first!”
I returned to this property a year on. The house and development was as good as I recalled from the previous stay. Comfortable accommodation, well served by the air conditioning units which were definitely needed in early July temperatures of the low 30s! The mattress in the main bedroom was a little soft for my friend who experienced a slightly bad back, but nothing significant and mattresses are very personal things - a move to the second bedroom solved the issue with a slightly harder mattress! The kitchen has everything one needs for preparing meals but there's a restaurant easily within 5 minutes walk for a great meze and friendly owners. Nice lounge area for chilling out with a glass of wine in the evening, if not sitting on the balcony with views across the nearby countryside. The communal pool literally within one minute's walk is clean and well-kept, and a small cafe on site provides snacks and drinks, although this wasn't open in May 2014 so it may only be open in high summer. Wifi available in the pool area but not in the house, which meant a proper break from the Netbook and iPad :-) The weather I experienced both times (in May and July) was perfect, wall to wall sunshine and high temperatures, which are very persuasive in making for a totally relaxing holiday. Car hire is essential but with three main towns (Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia) all within 45 minutes drive, and the beautiful scenery of the Troodos Mountains on the doorstep, there's lots to see and do. I should aim to go again when I won't feel resentful leaving the pool to see some of the sights! Some excellent restaurant recommendations were provided by the property owners in their very useful on-site notes, four of which were tried during this trip and all well worth it. Thinking you might like this place? Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

“Sun, sea & sand! Relaxing holiday, ideal location & friendly.”
Rental apartment gave us the benefit as a family to have a balance of privacy and access to great facilities; tennis court and swimming pool. Location perfect to drive to nearby seasides and towns. Lovely local restaurants and supermarket nearby!

“Great central location and easy access to both beach and city life”
Clean tidy house with modern appliances. On a small development with a mix of permanent residents and holiday lets. Very short walk - less than 1 minute - to a clean, sparkling pool, which I had almost to myself on most days. Free wi-fi access available around the pool area. Some excellent restaurants around, the village is walking distance but you might not want to do so in full summer heat! Car hire necessary, but easy to park outside the house. Balconies to both (en-suite) bedrooms, small terrace for evenings. Air conditioning. Easy drive to both Larnaca and Limassol - about 30 minutes each - and just a little further on to Nicosia. Beach about 10 minutes away by car; fantastic scenery in the Troodos mountains and lots of nature trails / hiking routes to follow.

“Fantastic holiday in a lovely property in beautiful surroundings..”
My wife and I along with our 3 daughters (aged 6,10 & 15) recently returned from a 2 week stay at Hillside House and I can quite safely say this was one of the best family holidays we have ever had ever!! From the moment we arrived at the beautifully presented property till the moment we left (with a little tear in our eyes!) we had the most perfect time. Everything you need is provided at this property including all the usual things you worry about like iron/ironing board, TV,DVD etc. We woke up every morning to blazing sunshine all day every day which did not disappear until the sun went down. The views from this property were breathtaking and facilities including the Play Area, Tennis Courts and the shared Swimming Pool on this development(which by the way we almost had to ourselves most days) were well utilised - while we were not out & about exploring all that Cyprus has to offer of course. This property was very centrally located so within an hour or so you can be in Paphos or Ayia Napa and even sooner you can be in Larnaca or Limassol with beautiful beaches and places to explore. It was our first visit to Cyprus and it was a lovely country with very friendly people. This property comes highly recommended by us and we would not hesitate to encourage you to try it for yourselves.

“Excellent for money! The real Cyprus experience.”
Excellent value money! Modern, fresh and spotlessly clean accommodation and a beautiful swimming pool that we had to ourselves most of the time. We loved the location, plenty of authentic Cypriot eateries nearby and only a 10 minute drive from the beach. We explored many places including Limassol, Larnaca, Nicosia and Paphos. Having visited these busy and lively towns, we were pleased to come back to the peace and tranquility of Hillside House. We enjoyed spending time exploring the local villages. Zygi on the coast was great for seafood restaurants and we found a wonderful Cypriot restaurant in Tochni, ‘The Tochni Tavern’ - a great atmosphere there on the BBQ night when we visited. A trip to Kykkos Monastery in the Troodos mountains is also well worth a visit. We would definitely recommend Hillside House for anyone looking for the real Cyprus experience. We enjoyed our relaxing break in the Cyprus sunshine and look forward to coming back next year.

“Lovely complex in an Ideal location for touring Cyprus”
We spent a very enjoyable 2 weeks staying at Hillside. The complex is modern , clean and is in an ideal location as a base for visiting any part of the Island. The pool area offers a great alternative if you just want to relax for the day. There are lots of interesting places to visit locally and most amenities, shops, restaurants, bar are available within walking distance. If you are looking for a lovely modern place to stay, then we would highly recommend this complex,as an ideal place to base yourself for a touring holiday.

“Quiet & Chilled Holiday Home”
Compact holiday home on outskirts of quiet village. OK local restaurants. But it's awful hot walking in Summer! Swimming pool is shared, but not too busy even when we were there in peak season. Small cafe with free wife at pool area. House very modern and clean. Well equipped and furnished Nice layout for families. Only drawback, is that a/c in bedrooms is on 2 hour timers - not ideal in height of summer when temperatures in high 30s, even at night. Choirokoitia relatively central and great base to explore Cyprus from.
