We loved this place! Spacious enough for us and right on the beach. So happy to be able to bring our dog with us. Priced right for our first ocean front. Definitely want to come back and get more family in the other side!!!
“Nice Rental in Emerald Isle”
This house has some good and bad features. Great location but beware that you cannot see the ocean from the deck because of the dunes. You'll need to walk out towards the beach and use the rockers, which is really nice but if you want to see the ocean while eating lunch or dinner outside, that's not an option. The first thing you see when you get in the house is a small spiral staircase that leads up the two bedrooms upstairs. While it looks neat, the novelty wears off pretty quickly as it's very narrow and not easy to get up and down, particularly when trying to get your luggage up and down stairs. This house has an awesome kitchen and includes pretty much anything you are looking for in pots, pans, etc. This was probably the best stocked kitchen in any house we've rented, and we've rented several through the years. Some of the drawbacks are that it does not have a true outside shower. While it says it does, it's not enclosed so you can't use it for a regular shower. No grill either, which was disappointing and very uncomfortable living room furniture. Some of the pluses are that the WIFI is excellent, beds were comfortable and the bathrooms are very nice. Overall, this is a nice property, just make sure you can deal with that staircase.
“The unit was very comfortable - and the weather was perfect all”
The house did not have any frying pans or hot pads. Making bacon and eggs on our first morning was a challenge. I called Emerald Isle Realty and asked for the missing items - which were delivered the same day. I also had to call Emerald Isle Realty because there was a wasps nest on the deck. They also took care of that and searched the deck for other wasp nests. The description of the property in the Emerald Isle catalog/web site stated there was a DVD player in the living area. It was not. It was in the bedroom. Two older women do not know how to move and connect electronics. We were very disappointed about that because we had brought movies we wanted to watch - and didn't want to watch them in the bedroom. This property was rated Gold - and I didn't consider it of that quality.
We loved this rental! My wife was very happy with the kitchen. I was happy because my daughters and I caught 24 bluefish from the surf! The beds were comfortable and it was nice having the downstairs to ourselves after the girls went to bed. I thought not being able to see the beach from the first floor was going to be a bigger issue for me than it was. The deck was nice and there is a nice seating area on your way out to the beach.
“Excellent locations on the beach.”
We rented both sides for a family gathering. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was nicely furnished. It was nice to open the door between the two duplexes. The narrow spiral stair chase to get to the upper bedrooms was difficult for small children and pets.
Carolonina Dune East was exceptionally clean one of the nicest places we have stayed. Hospitality Service was very prompt when needed. Guests need to know can't see the beach from the first floor. Wonderful views from 2nd floor and deck view
Response from the manager Thank you for your review of your stay at Carolina Dune East and for your kind compliments of Emerald Isle Realty and the services we provide. It pleases me to know that you arrived to clean accommodations and found everything within the home to be pleasant. I hope you will revisit Emerald Isle and this duplex soon. Please call us when you begin making plans for your next stay - 1-888-832-0140.
“Caolina Dune East”
We have been vacationing at Emerald Isle for 36 straight years. We just love the beach, and all the many reasons there are to come to heaven on Earth, "E.I". Our kids are now grown and they're vacationing with ther families there now as well. See you in 2011!
“Finally took a vacation after 5 years”
We really enjoyed our vacation. We were able to bring our 3 tiny dogs. We will be back again.
“A week of memories never to be forgotten.”
This house is in a great location. It is very well equipped, except there is no frying pan. We love it (2nd stay here) except for the spiral staircasw. It is difficult to carry suitcases up it and for the children and older family members to navigate,
“First time staying in a duplex”
This property is very nice and well furnished. We stayed 2 weeks enjoying every day. If I have to make any negative comments they would concern issues that were beyond control of the realty comp. We had trouble with the wireless internet connection with several laptops as well as no cell phone sevice in the house (this involved 3 different carriers). We had to go outside to the back porch or the dune deck to recieve or make calls and for those of us that are baby boomers, the spiral staircase can be a challenge, but we did master it! We have been vacationing in Emerald Isle for 20 years and this was our first experience in a duplex. You do take a chance with neighbors sharing a deck and walkway, it is difficult to find an affordable oceanfront property to stay 2 weeks and bring pets. The first week we had a very enjoyable family sharing the house but the second week we were not as fortunate and had a few small problems. Overall this is a nice property with the only big disappoint being the inability to see the beach from the deck. Of course it is difficult to determine this from the listing and the booking agents cannot be expected to know all of the properties. Emerald Isle realty is wonderful and very responsive to any needs. They are friendly and do make your stay as problem free as possible. I was upset that we had to pay for a tax increase that was imposed after we had totally paid for our property. This should have not been retroactive, just charged for properties rented after the effective tax date.
