Very Good

“Loved It!!!”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2014

All the comforts of home, a ten minute (or less) walk to the beach, friendly to fur kids and some shade no matter what time of day you decide to sit outside! What's not to love?

“Very private and all the comforts of home, plus.”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2013

We very much enjoyed our stay. It's a short walk to the beach and it's located in a very nice, quiet, shady neighborhood. The home had everything we needed, except a vegetable steamer. They're only a couple bucks so that would make a nice addition. I have no complaints about the house. My little dog would complain about the steepness of the steps, especially the back ones.

“A beautiful backdrop for your summer memories.”

First of all, check-in was a breeze. Very well orchestrated by the Emerald Isle staff. This was our third visit to Tarheel Timeout so we thought we knew what to expect. It was better than what we expected. The house had been newly updated and as always, was bright and fresh. I liked the fact that the back yard had been fenced since last we were here and it was a comfort that my dog could roam the yard without a leash. We had an easy time getting down to the beach. It was a short trip to the beach boardwalk and was made easier with the use of the wheeled cart provided by the homeowner. While on Emerald Isle we took in the NC aquarium, Go-Karts, Stand Up Paddle boarding and the good food. We made good memories at Tarheel Time out. I would have to say that our only complaint would be that the beds were not very comfortable.

“Nice Place that could use just a little tweaking.”

The home was very well updated and maintained. Very nicely decorated (living area furniture would be great for entertaining - not the most comfortable for "sprawling out" after a day on the beach. Fenced in yard was a great plus for dog. Only drawback was that our 10 pound dog could get through the slats on the gate at the bottom of the back stairs. Would add some wire over them like there was on the other wide slatted areas. House was stocked well for basic cooking needs (would add some more silverware, cereal bowls, plates, & cups which didn't last the day for 5 people & 3 meals). Warning, mattresses were extremely firm! Almost to the point of being uncomfortable if you have any kind of back or joint issues. No pillow top mattresses here! That was really the biggest drawback of the house. Lot was nicely shaded and secluded. Ceiling fan on screened in porch was great in the summer heat. Bit of a walk to get to the beach but then again it's ocean side! Enjoyed our 24th stay at Emerald Isle as usual!

Wonderful place to stay. We enjoyed the location. It is a pretty cottage and well designed. We liked having the laundry room on the living floor. It was dog friendly. The screened in porch and fenced backyard were great. The linens were great. The thing we missed that would have improved the experience would have been rocking chairs on the porch and a more conveniently located clothes line. Also, instructions for turning on the entertainment system could have been clearer. It was unplugged when we arrived and it took us a day to figure out how to turn it on. Also two of the three smaller TVs in the bedrooms either did not work or we couldn't figure them out. The kitchen needed more serving pieces. Overall it was a great experience.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review of your stay at Tarheel Timeout. This home is quite lovely and the convenience to the beach makes it a great place to spend one's vacation. I'm happy to know that you and your family enjoyed it. Certainly, we would have sent someone to assist you with the televisions so please let us know about things like this during your stay. We look forward to your next vacation so please call us when you begin making plans - 1-888-832-0140.

“Super time will slight hiccup”

Reviewed 6 Jul 2011

Tarheel Timeout is a very good place to stay in order to get away from the exorbitantly priced beachfront homes. It's a very short walk to the beach with very little street traffic. The four bedrooms were perfect as well as two separate bathrooms. A nice feature...all the light switches are labeled with what they go to. It is equipped with everything you need. The furniture is not my style but it's not mine so who cares!!! The only problems associated with our rental was the house had not been cleaned prior to our moving in at the normal time. The dryer didn't work. A repairman came a day after we called. Said it was fixed and stopped working 5 minutes after we turned it on. We called maintenance again but no one ever showed up for the rest of our week. There was a rather large ant colony on the front deck. We figured maintenance would never show up so I bought a couple of ant traps and took care of the problem myself. Emerald Isle Real Estate has the bead on getting people checked in and checked out but they need to work on their maintenance department. In spite of the minor problems we would rent it again if we were going to the area for a vacation.

Nice home and nicely appointed. Great driveway for bike-riding. Close enough to the beach and very convenient to town.

“Standards in Rental Property”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2010

Had to wash all dishes by hand. Dishes had permant stains and hard to remove residue and material. Outdoor shower, used almost exclusively, did not have shelf for supplies, seat or proper lighting. Carpet torn, burned. Had to cover couch with blanket to sit due to shreds, stains and general feeling of material against skin (wet?) A more accommoating table than one that seats four would have been nice. No recycle bin available. Had to take recycles to EI public facility which didn't have slots for clear plastic and glass. Dryer took one and one half cycles to dry medium permanent press load (not heavy cotton.) Spice caddy on counter. I'm not sure if this is a good idea. As spices age mold grows especially in humid conditions. At least one hot pad would have been nice.

“Wonderful Home”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2010

This is a nice home in a quiet neighborhood. 5 minute walk from the driveway to the ocean. Our little dog loved to sniff around the fenced yard and have a littel "off" leash time to roam. The kitchen is more efficiently stocked than most rentals and nice cabinet space. The house layout was perfect for our needs. The amenities appreciated the most were the screened porch, beach chairs and the small beach cart (this was not what we expected, but it worked). The staff at EIR were pleasant and willing to answer questions with a speedy check-in and out. We want to come back again!!
