“Great place, Nice rent company, but going from room to lving roo”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2012

The title says it all. Be prepared to handle the Russian River cold whenever going from your room to the living room and kitchen... Otherwise, there's a small usable but broken dock, old wood stairs lead to it and caution is advised, but it is somewhat charming. There is a huge deck with a great view. The house is near a local Bar/coffee and people there are extremely helpful and friendly. Overall, if you travel without infants and cold does not scare you it is highly recommended.

Response from the manager Hello! Thanks for sharing a review for The Rhondavous! The layout is different than most houses... But we love it too! The living room and kitchen are on the street level and with the big deck looking over the river. One bedroom and bathroom is in a Granny unit on the deck (yes, you have to cross the deck to get to it). The rest of the bedrooms, bathrooms and little rec room are on the lower level - down an outside set of stairs. To get to the river, you continue down the stairs - yes, wood - but they are stable - and down to the water. We have photos of both the stairs and the dock area on our website. It's definitely not a full dock. :) Megan Perkins Russian River Vacation Homes

“Great River access!”

Reviewed 27 Feb 2012

I rented this house for a couple nights in June to celebrate my birthday with a few friends and it was great! The river access was perfect-we floated right to our dock! It was nice to have the master room separate from the rest of the house but the house also had plenty of room for both couples and singles. It's a little tricky to find the first time around but in the end that just adds to the appeal :)

Response from the manager Hello! The Rhondavous is an awesome river house! Thank you for sharing! We definately recommend that folks use the written directions we provide - NOT GPS or car navigation to get to this house or any other in Summerhome Park - as most GPS systems get it wrong... :) Megan Perkins Russian River Vacation Homes

“A lovely escape on the river”

Reviewed 15 Feb 2012

We stayed in the property as a group and used it as a base to explore wine country. We also took a canoeing trip with Burke's which is just down the road. I'd highly recommend that. If you are thinking of canoeing the river this place is perfect! You can stop for lunch half way. For the most part, the place was really comfortable and exactly what we were looking for. Our one complaint was the futon... It's really uncomfortable so I'd avoid having anyone sleep on that. I recommend it though, it's a great base and has everything you need.

Response from the manager Hello! Thank you for sharing a review! The Rhondavous is a newer property for us and we think it's great... Perched right over the river, nestled into the Summerhome Park community and well laid out for a group to spread about in the house. We appreciate hearing about the futon and will pass it on to the owners - hopefully, it can be addressed before the house opens up for the spring/summer! :) Megan Perkins Russian River Vacation Homes

“cabin in the redwoods over the river”

Reviewed 29 Nov 2011

We (4 adults and 2 kids) came to the area for a wedding and chose this over a traditional hotel. We had the comfort of a large living/dining room, bedrooms for everyone, and a spacious, well equipped kitchen for less cost than two hotel rooms. We also woke up to a spectacular sight every morning of the redwoods in the fog as the morning sunlight gradually cleared the air. The road was definitely an adventure, especially since we arrived in the dark the first night but once we got used to it, it wasn't a problem. It was also October so it was quite chilly until the space heaters were able to warm the place up. Once it was warm though we were comfortable, and the wood stove in the living room felt wonderful. Internet and cell phone coverage was good at the house too, which was very helpful. The location was within reasonable driving distance of Santa Rosa where the festivities took place. There was a Safeway in town not far away, and we were close to the coast and armstrong Woods, two places we wanted to visit. We were glad we chose to stay at this home. Our Ca experience was much better and more beautiful than it would have been in a hotel. It seemed that every effort had been made to make the house comfortable and accommodating for guests, and we had everything we needed.

Response from the manager Hello! Thank you! Your review is a fantastic description of The Rhondavous and sounds like it was the perfect house for your family! We love hearing about good "pairings" - families and vacation homes, just like food and wine! We think The Rhondavous is pretty darn fantastic too! Thank you for sharing your experience! “Relaxing”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2010

Loved the views. Cabin was very clean and supplied all the ammenities needed for a stay. The parking was not great but we made it work. I would stay there again...thanks. Kathleen, Arizona

Response from the manager Hello! Thank you for sharing a review! The Rhondavous has fantastic views - I could lounge on the deck all day long! Summerhome Park Road is not known for great parking, but we are trying to make it work too... There are a couple spots further along the street to park and walk back - on a first come first served basis. Though, we encourage carpooling! I hope we'll see you again! :) Megan Perkins Russian River Vacation Homes

“We enjoyed our stay at the Rhondavous and would do it again!”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2010

The Rhondavous rental has a terrific location on the Russian River. We had a great view from the deck and could pass the time watching the canoes and kayaks go by below us. We had fun swimming in the river. The road to the house was "amusement-park" thrilling. Fortunately, a family member scouted the road before our arrival. The accommodations were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Summer Home Park has a very interesting history and the Rhondavous house is part of it.

Response from the manager Hello! The Rhondavous IS an awesome hang-out-and-watch-the-world-float-by spot! And I drive that road extra slowly too... Megan Perkins Russian River Vacation Homes

“Lazy days...”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2010

We had 5 adults and 2 children there for 5 days. Photos on website make house look a little more spacious than it is, but there's plenty of room. 3 BR/3BR plus a room with a futon (we brought an air mattress to use instead). Kitchen is set up well with everything you could need. The deck overlooking the beach is wonderful. There are stairs that go down to the river from the back of the house...to enter the river there you'd need a raft or have to start swimming (I don't think you can touch bottom there). We walked to one of the 2 beaches each day and would paddle on a raft to the stairs up to the house to get anything we needed...The river is pretty shallow by the beaches so it was fun for my 2 and 7 year olds. The house is set up well with nice linens, etc. The only negative is that you could hear noise from room to room or if you were downstairs you could hear people walking upstairs. Wouldn't prohibit me from staying there again though. We had a great time there. The rental agency was very helpful and returned our deposit within 14 days with no issues.

Response from the manager Hello! Glad to hear you enjoyed The Rhondavous! It's a new vacation home with copious improvements made by the owners before we started renting it this summer. And they promise to do more too! The futon in the rec room is on the list! Like so many traditional Russian River area homes, there's not an abundance of insulation between rooms and levels so you can hear loud conversations or children bouncing around from floor to floor or room to room. It's a quirk many of us, in this area, have learned to live with in our homes. The two private beaches are great and kept nice and clean by the homeowner's associations! And you can certainly swim from the river access at the bottom of the stairs! Fishing is probably good at that spot too! Thanks for staying and sharing with us!
