“Great Experience!”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2011

This trip to Big Bear was a last minute plan, I went through pleant of 1 bedroom cabins. However this one stood out beacuse the amount of space for 2 people, when it is really meant for 4. Upon arriveing the outside was just what I was looking for, the inside was clean and looked comfortable. It had plenty of ammenities to offer, we where very happy and will return back to this cabin again.

“Fresh air”

Big Bear is an awesome place to visit. However, the cabin we rented was dirty and the bed was not made. The towels were on the floor. After calling the office house keeping came and fix the problems. Nonetheless, the first impression was not good. Love the lake!

“Great time, plenty of amenities in cabin.”

Staff at check in w/BBV. was outstanding and very informed, professional and good nature'd. The cabin had plenty of room for the three of us and enough privacy for sleep. Kitchen was amazing and if you like to cook, I mean if I wanted to bake a cake, grill some fish, make a casserole, you name it everything is there. dvd/vcr combo(Good Cable too)washer/dryer, linens soap...the works came with this place. Also you have a private deck out back w/table and chairs, grille and 2 car parking. Very close to all including the village. like 2 blocks over. We caught the weather perfect. We will be returning for the winter. Overall, I have traveled a bit and to drive just 3 hours and have all this was very pleasing.

“Average at best”

The promo pic (above) made this place look secluded and alpine. It was just an average cabin in an average neighborhood, with some fairly funky neighbors and no privacy to speak of. There were cigarette butts scattered around the exterior, and no soap to be found. Worst of all, it was 1000 degrees inside and didn't cool off until well after midnight. A BBV rep should have visited before we arrived to check things, and turn on the fans and open any safe windows. Otherwise, an average accommodation.

“Great cabin in a terrifc location!”

This cabin was great for a family of four. It is walking distance to the Village and marinas. We rode our bikes to Swim Beach. The fact that there is no Internet is inconvenient, but it was nice to be unplugged for a week! The only complaints we had were no kitchen towels were provided, which was ridiculous considering there is no dishwasher. Secondly, the neighbors are a messy crew of long-term renters. From the back deck you get to look at the neighbor's stockpile of trash and laundry piling up on the side of their house.

“Small, no frills, but near town”

Actually this was our 2nd time at this cabin. I had forgotten that we had stayed here several years ago. In this day and age, I think cabins without the WiFi is really silly. Even if the owner doesn't like it, the Vacation Company should have wireless is all their cabins. Video/movie selection is a complete joke, I hate to say, but no one uses VHS anymore. Ma & Pa Kettle? Really? Pet peevs: Why are there no napkins/kleenix/paper towels? Why is there no salt and pepper? Probably the most depressing part of this cabin, even though very affordable, there is duct tape covering seams to the ceiling and walls, in several areas. Are you kidding? If there is a draft problem, then you need to actually fix the gaps in the ceiling/walls. Bathroom has real bad dry rot, sorta disgusting. Had I remembered I had already rented this cabin once, I would not have rented again, even though it is cheap. Kids had fun. This cabin needs some attention. Owner: time to renovate and fix the issues. They will only get worse.

“Horrible experience”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2011

We stayed with Big Bear Vacation Rentals in September 2010 and had a horrible experience. We paid 600+ to stay on Magic Moon and upon arrival, there was no heat nor did the cable work. We complained and a maintenance guy showed up, but was unable to fix the problems. The next day we were offered a $100 gift card to return for a future stay. So, in February 2011, we decided to give Big Bear Vacation Rentals a second shot. This time we stayed at The Main Escape. After a long trip up the mountain, we spent the day snowboarding and checked into the cabin around 4 pm. As we arrived, we discovered the driveway was completely covered in several feet of snow. We called the office and were told that there was a shovel inside. A shovel! Now, when I pay $300+ dollars to rent a cabin, I would expect that the least they could do would be to shovel the driveway before guests arrived. So we spent 45 minutes shoveling our own driveway. Is thos the way to treat a fuest from out of town? To top it off, the cabin was terribly dusty and the cable didn't work again! So as anyone can imagine, it was a horrible, horrible experience not once, but twice. Not only will we never stay with this company again, but we are going to make sure none of our friends make this mistake either.

Response from the manager We're sorry your stay was not up to standards, the driveways were in fact plowed and walkways shoveled during your stay. (There was no snow on the ground) It sounds like the issues you've experienced have surpassed our company and been Big Bear related in general. Our maintenance staff confirmed at the Magic Moon that the TV was on the wrong channel and the heat was not set properly. WE at Big Bear Vacations not only believe in the quality of your stay but in the experience of your vacation as well. We gave you and your group the $100 certificate in good faith for the problems with the controls and we would still love to have you back. Maybe net time your stay will be better.

“Wonderful & Charming”

The place was great! We had a wonderful time! Thanks for the experience!

“Great Value!”

Reviewed 6 Dec 2010

I stayed here for two days and enjoyed the cabin. Its great for a small family or a group of 4 people. There is a master bedroom downstairs that sleeps two plus a loft that has two queen beds and has a toilet upstairs and one full bath downstairs. The cabin is clean and has all the basics you'll need including a washer and dryer. The only complaints I had was the cabin ( renters?) to the left of the cabin property were loud and boisterous till about 2am on Friday night. and #2, don't use the driveway when it snows. I had parked my vehicle in the driveway and due to the angle of the driveway and mix of snow and ice, my vehicle slid down the driveway.

“Very nice cabin”

We got upgraded (free) into this cabin and never regretted it! It's a huge cabin, very cosy and we spent a great night there. I can definitely recommend it to others, it's also perfect for a small family. Great stay, will come back!
