Very Good

“Fantastic villa and staff, but a bit far from anywhere...”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2013

I cannot say enough good things about the staff at the villa. The villa itself is also really lovely. My only downsides are, it is a bit far away from anywhere, so if you want to go out you need to organise the driver in advance. Not so great for being spontaneous. My only other grumble is that you have to buy everything and I mean everything - even toilet paper and water. I think this is a bit mean. Otherwise fantastic.

Response from the owner I just wanted to say that we offer to all our guests a free welcome package that includes the first dinner and the first breakfast. In the case of Ms Livingstone the welcome package was adapted to her vegetarian needs and was composed by the following items: - Freshs fruits (pineapple, bananna, watermelon...) - Strawberry jam - bread to make toasts - butter - coffee - tea - tofu - rice - a mix of vegetables to cook with the rice and tofu - 1 gallon of mineral water - paper napkins - and 3 rolls of toilet paper When the guest is not a vegetarian we also include milk, eggs and chicken. So it's simply not true that we make our guests pay for everything, not to mention other free services we offer like WIFI internet, laundry etc. Regarding the location, it must be understood that Lovina is a rural area, a number of typical indonesian fishing towns along 15-20 km of coastline. So if you rent a villa in a rural area, you can't expect to have a lot of shops and restaurants around it as if you were in a city. Villa Beranda is in a neighbourhood of 10-12 villas in the town of Dencarik. There is a restaurant and a small spa on the beach at 100m and a number of "Warungs" and indonesian shops along the main road at 700-800 meters of the villa. There is also a small tourist center in the town of Kalibukbuk at 6km of the villa. To be spontaneous in such an environment you can always rent a scooter and go anywhere in a matter of minutes.

“A great place to relax, kick-back, and enjoy!”

Thank you Jaume and Mula for letting us stay in your beautiful Villa. Especially we would like to thank your friendly, reliable, competent staff for making our stay in Bali a wonderful experience and one of our best vacations ever. Putu -Driver was a great tour guide, helpful translator and thoughtful organizer. Putu-Gardener has not only landscaping talent, but organized quite a few things for us like getting us water. Putu-Security was not only a welcome face when we came back to the villa after our island tours but took special care of us and organized a great farewell party. Wiwin is an amazing cook and housekeeper. We only had the chance to eat the food she prepared for us when we arrived because the night we arrived she had her baby. The staff impressively organized the next morning Komang to take-over while Wiwin was on maternity leave. Komang took great care of us and her food was amazing and better than the restaurants we ate at. The staff of the villa were the most genuinely friendly, reliable, punctual, and helpful people I've met in a really long time. They also organized so many things to make our stay as perfect as possible. Well beyond call of duty, Putu-Security and his wife took our two girls (8 and 10) with his daughter for Legong dance lessons. On our last night in the villa, my husband and I wanted to invite the staff for a going-away-party with a "Babi Gulling". Putu organized the children of the village to come over and show us their traditional dancing and music, too. Before the party they picked up our girls and took them to get their hair and make-up done, and dressed them up like traditional Legong dancers. We had such a great time as they tried to teach us their dances and how to play their traditional instruments. The party with the locals was unforgettable and something that not just any tourist can say they've experienced. Thank you again for everything, and we look forward to coming back again soon!

“Nice and quiet villa”

We had a wonderful stay in this villa. The housekeeper is a wonderful cook and we enjoyed her meals every day! Never tasted such good indonesian food (and my parents are born in Indonesia!). Wiwin (but also the other staff members) took really good care of us. They are all very nice and helpful. The kitchen is fully equipped but we missed a kettle or water cooker for the tea. Also the kitchen towels could use some replacement. Villa has a spacious lounge on the roof with a nice view of the garden, the swimming pool and rice fields. We really enjoyed this terrace in the evening because of the breeze at night. Bed rooms are good (AC no fan) with a good bed and bath room with toilet and shower. A nice swimming pool which we used frequently: a refreshing swim in the morning before breakfast or in the afternoon when it became very hot. The villa is not extreme luxurious but has enough ammenities for a long and comfortable stay!

“Villa Beranda & the staff of Villa Beranda have stolen a piece o”

Thank you Jaume for renting your incredible piece of paradise to us. Thank you Wewin for looking after us so well. Thank you for the meals that you prepared for us, thank you for shopping for us. We loved the smells that drifted from the kitchen as you cooked. Thank you Putu (garden & Maintenance) for your never ending smiles and waves, when I think of Villa Beranda, I see your smile. Thank you Putu & Komang (security) we never once felt unsafe with you around. Thank you for running around in the storms & saving our laundry and keeping things dry for us to use the next day. Thank you also Putu (Driver) for all of the great trips and short hauls that you took us on. An incredibly wonderful place to stay and we hope to be back. To Wewin we wish you all the best for your family and the new baby when he arrives.

“A little paradise in Northern Bali”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2012

A month's stay in this wonderful residence with the staff was an incredible source of pleasure. The Villa has all you can hope for. Being offset (but only 50 meters) from the beach afforded us the privacy that is missing from all beach-front villas in the same area. A small disagreement for beach lovers... although the black sand beach was kept relatively clean by the staff of the nearby villas, the seawater itself was somedays of dubious salubrity... The villa has a wonderful pool we enjoyed several times a day. We would definitely return again.

Response from the owner I just wanted to make a comment about the beach. When there are troubled waters in the sea they can bring dirtiness to the beach. This is an occasional phenomenon that can happen anywhere and it happens sometimes in Dencarik. But apart from that the water in the Dencarik beach is perfectly OK. When I am there I go swimming almost every morning and it's a fantastic swim, refreshing but not too cold. In addition it is a beach very suitable for the children because of its shallow waters, fine sand and total absence of rocks, currents or big waves.

“The best house, staff and location!”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2012

We have just stayed in villa Beranda for 4 weeks and it wasn't a day too long (quite the opposite). We are a family of four and the house has been perfect for us. We have been spoiled rotten by Wiwin the housekeeper, who is not only the greatest cook, but also very sweet and keeps the house spotless. There are plenty of things to do and see while you stay at Villa Beranda, but we can highly recommend the trekkingtrip in Mayong area and the snorkeling at Menjanan Island. The only bad thing about Villa Berand, Bali and the people of Bali is, that it is a 24 hour trip from Denmark! Don't hesitate to book this house - seriously!

“Loved our stay here!”

We stayed over Easter weekend 2012 - 3 adults (ages 30, 58 and 63) - and had a great time! We arrived Friday midday and found our driver  It is a bit of a drive to the north side, but the driver was great with the twists and turns. If you get car sick in the mountains, you may want to bring your Dramamine. We arrived and Wiwin, who takes care of the house, had a delicius dinner prepared. She asked about breakfast the next day and worked with our schedule. We requested dinner as well and gave her some cash for grocery shopping. She was really great and the food always hit the spot! She helped us make arrangements for our days. Our same driver took us for snorkeling at nearby Menjangan island. We were a small group and it felt like we had the water to ourselves. My mom doesn't swim well and it was her first time snorkeling. The guide put a life jacket on her and held her hand the whole time, which she appreciated so much. The driver came with - fun was had by all! Great snorkeling! The same driver took us back to the airport Monday with a stopover in Ubud for lunch and shopping. He slowed down or stopped whenever we wanted to snap a pic. Everyone related to the villa who helped us out was so wonderful.  The villa itself was great. The pool is outside the kitchen and we went for morning, afternoon and evening swims. Upstairs you have great views and can shoot some pool. We used the inflatable kayak at the nearby beach. It is black sand and without many shade options. Of course for the walk back you're a lttle more tired carrying the kayak. But two of us managed okay with some rest stops. The water at the beach is a little dirty by the piers, but further out is clear again - although with the black sand it appears murky. We had a fun couple hours and went to Lovina for dinner.  I would highly reccommend this villa to others and we thought it was well worth the rates charged!

I would like to express my many thanks to the owner and the superb staff namely : Wiwin, Wuwan, Putu & Komang for making our visit and honeymoon so pleasurable. Why eat out when the best cuisine can be cooked on site for you with Wiwin's ever friendly smile and delicious food. The villa is of a superb design and is a genuine 75 meters to the beach, but without the distractions of the super expensive villas on the beach (if only those people knew). I would and do highly recommend the villa to any traveller as a place of peace and tranquility, of expansive exotic gardens and a tropical pool like paradise. We will be back again to sample natures true masterpiece, Jaume & staff keep up the excellent work. kind regards Geoff & Kristins
