“Great Getaway”

Reviewed 19 Oct 2016

My family(husband, adult son, teenage daughter) had a wonderful experience at Knob Hill Ranch. We chose this location because of the horseback riding and its proximity to Indio(we had tickets for the Desert Trip concert). My daughter is an avid rider but not so much a fan of old rockers therefore having close access to horses and trail rides kept everyone happy. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with wonderful views. It had convenient access to the Joshua Tree National Park as well as to the town of Yucca Valley. The horses were well kept and fun to ride. This was not your boring nose to tail trail riding. My daughter rode daily and had such a great experience thanks to Natalia and Don. This is a great place for anyone looking for a base to explore Joshua Tree National Park as well as anyone who enjoys horses and riding.

“Amazing!!”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2014

Me and a friend did a road trip an wanted to visit Joshua Tree Nationalpark. We discovered Knob Hill Ranch on the internet and were immediately thrilled when reading that Nathalia and Don also offered horseback riding trails. The friend I travelled with is really experienced in horseback riding however I only sat on a horse once in my life so I wasn't sure if it would work out for me. Nathalia was really helpful in advance, answered all mails right away and even managed to switch dates with another customer when I discovered that I sent here the wrong date for our visit. Upon arrival Nathalia and Don were really welcoming. We had time to practise which was especially important to me. My friend and I were the only customers on the trail which made me feel even more comfortable due to my lack of experience. In the end the trail had become one of the most amazing experiences. Nathalia and Don know their horses very, very well, are caring and know the needs of their animals as well as their customers. Anybody who has the chance to take a trail should do that. It is just amazing to experience Joshua Tree on the back of a horse.

“Great stay !”

The accommodation is a nice and little independent house very well equipped in a calm place. We had a very warm and friendly welcome by Natalie and Donald. Horse rides were great with scenic views in the desert. Our kids (12 and 14) were so enthusiastic about these rides that they wanted to stay more.

“Perfect hospitality, breath-taking views, amazing experience”

Reviewed 10 Feb 2012

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home and that any way the hosts could help or provide for us, would be met. And we weren't at all disappointed. The guest house was spacious and fully equipped with anything you could want. Free internet and cable television are provided. And the bedroom and living areas are extremely comfortable, clean and beautifully furnished. The trek was a wonderful experience. And the ranch owner, Natalia, helped to coach about the horses responses and advised throughout. The horse I rode, Phoenix, was wonderful - extremely well behaved, while being responsive and made me feel safe in a climate I hadn't experienced on horseback before. Throughout the trek I felt secure and comforted by both the horse and Natalia's expertise. The ranch itself is full of life with the most friendly and adorable animals, and is also a pet friendly environment for anyone wanting to bring their extended animal family along with them. You are also only a small drive from restaurants and bars from the ranch if you want to head into town. Providing everything you could possibly need while also being able to also enjoy the solice of the desert. At night it feels like you can see every star in the universe in that clear sky. It was such an amazing and beautiful sight. I could not recommend this more for anyone wanting to experience something a little different. Whether you are looking to escape the city, experience western life from the back of a beautiful horse, get away from cares and worries, looking for adventure or even a romantic getaway - there is something for everyone at Knob Hill Ranch. I can't wait to go back!

“Relaxing, atmospheric, adventurous, breathtaking scenery, welcom”

Reviewed 9 Feb 2012

I had the pleasure of staying at Knob Hill Ranch recently and wanted to let others know who were thinking of going on a ranch style vacation to seriously consider this place. From the moment we pulled up to the ranch we were made to feel very welcome by the owner and the animals! We were shown our guest house which is situated just a short distance from the main house but still quite private and self sufficient. The guest house was clean, well equipped with everything you would ever need and was warm and cosy in the evenings. Free internet access and TV to keep you entertained if you wanted to relax in the evenings but only a short drive into town if you wanted to adventure out to a restaurant. The trail ride was brilliant, felt just like a cowboy on my horse in the desert. Natalia the owner was really helpful and informative and made sure I was on a horse suitable for my riding abilities which made me feel a bit more confident. Overall the stay was just what needed, a million miles away from the normal humdrum of life this break was just the best!

“The Highlight of my Vacation”

Reviewed 8 Feb 2012

Staying at the Knobhill Ranch was a truly positive experience. I wish I had the chance to spend more time in the lovely Yucca Valley and absolutely intend to return for more of Natalia and Dons hospitality, either on my own or with another group of friends. The guesthouse was clean, welcoming and well equipped. A great deal of effort has gone into making all the sleeping accommodations are comfortable. The 3.5 hour horse ride my father and I participated in was geared towards our riding level (advanced) and was both a challenging and rewarding experience (exactly what I was looking for). My embarrassing lack of riding gear was cheerfully overcome and I was loaned both gloves and boots. The horses were safe and well trained but not plugs. We came home tired and happy, having gained a new appreciation of the dessert. On the night we arrived Natalia went far beyond the call of duty to make sure we managed to see some of the local attractions when she actually had us follow her all the way up to Pioneertown for dinner the night we arrived. She does an excellent job of promoting other local businesses. I can't wait to go back!

“We had an awesome time here!”

This guest house turned out to be a perfect place to stay for our family. Don and Natalia were very accommodating with recommendations for my kids and with advice about exploring Joshua Tree. This was the ideal location for us - right outside the National Park and close to all the stores in Yucca Valley. The house was immaculate, private, and well-stocked with everything we needed. The decor was cool and artsy. Best of all were the horses on the property - friendly and totally different than what we're used to in the city. Natalia worked out some riding lessons for my kids that they will never forget. I can't say enough good things about this trip and property - we can't wait to go back.

“Peaceful vacation in a wonderful spot with lovely hosts”

Reviewed 15 Dec 2011

I felt very welcome by the ranch owners who did everything they could to make me feel cosy ! Their home is very well equiped and so comfortable. I loved the peacefulness of the place and the breathtaking beauty of the landscape. Horseback riding "just around the corner" is amazing. The staff is very professional and make you feel absolutely safe. I can only recommend this desert retreat ! The only inconvenience: you don't want to leave !

“Incredible!!”

Reviewed 9 Dec 2011

What a tremendous experience! The quiet beauty of the desert combined with horseback riding, excellent accommodations, and a fun-filled staff make this the best vacation destination in the area. If you like a no-hassle stay in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place to go. Great prices, easy access to Joshua Tree National Monument, Yucca Valley's growing amenities (good food, live entertainment, etc.). It's a wonderful getaway for a weekend or a week. Just 45 minutes from Palm Springs (and PS airport), almost every star in the Universe is visible at night. We loved every minute of our time there.
