Description

The Retreat is a unique Caribbean style home, reminiscent of the island days of Flynn and

Hemingway, nestled in lush native gardens. The incredibly beautiful Grace Bay Beach is 190 steps

down a manicured path. The freestanding yoga deck looks out to the turquoise sea and the pearl

necklace of the reef. As you pass thru the white picket gate into the serenity of 25 year old gardens

you will feel the magic serenity of this well loved property

The main house, originally built in 1987, has evolved from a small beach cottage to a

delightful ramble of indoor & outdoor spaces, surrounded by greenery & filled

with a superb collection of Caribbean art and antiques.. It was completely renovated this summer.

Travertine & brightly painted wooden floors invite barefeet and the multitude of decks make room

for several simultaneous activities. Naturally cooled, the house is sited to catch the breezes and view

the ocean from under the shade of the sea pines.

Sleeping accommodations are in the Main house w/ two en suite pods, The Cottage & The Villa.

The Villa is furnished w/ a queen bed, chest of drawers, hanging closet, couch & coffee maker & microwave and fridge. TV and video library. The room is cooled with ceiling and floor fans. A shower bathroom is one step up. French doors open to a small patio garden. The Villa is a retreat in its own right and may occasionally be rented separately

The Cottage, shaded by palms & seagrapes, is an airy, art & bookfilled hideaway, connected to the main house by a raised walkway past the outdoor dining area. Toilet & sink indoors, the shower is in a private surround under the Poinciana tree by the door. A twin bed, chest of drawers & reading chair complete this room with A/C and ceiling fan.

The Main house has Master ensuite, diningroom, full kitchen and livingroom.

The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, arising from which, one can see the sea, a large closet and a garden view. Ceiling fan & A/C, The adjoining bathroom has a rainshower with garden view & a water saving toilet.

The airy ocean view living room has a reading/napping alcove, wall mounted Tv w/ Apple Tv, ca. This spacious room opens onto the well furnished North deck which in turn leads to the beach path, yoga deck and a covered side deck topped w/ a moongazing tower.

The indoor dining room seats 6-8, the full kitchen has a gas cooktop and Profile oven, all utensils (we love to cook) dishwasher, fridge w/ icemaker.

The Retreat on Grace Bay was envisaged as a center and gathering point for yoga and meditation

retreats with additional accommodation at adjacent houses.. It serves equally well for family and friend gatherings, weddings and just hanging out.

Please note we have resident cats who are cared for by the staff and geckos behind paintings.
