“Magical”

Reviewed 24 Jan 2014

We've been fortunate enough to stay at this property for two and a half months. Its the perfect blend of luxury and comfort. The wow factor is off the chart and we cherished everyday we were there. We have been visiting Nantucket for the past twelve years and we normally bounce around all over the island to try new places. This is by far our favorite. Amazing grounds, beautiful sunsets, extremely comfortable beds and cozy furnishings, fully equipped kitchen, space for large families or groups of friends, very close the uncrowded Sesachacha Pond and Quidnet Beach, walking distance to the trails in Squam Farm and the nicest, most accommodating owners. We thank Bob and Virginia for sharing their incredible home with us.

“Wonderful autumn week”

Reviewed 12 Nov 2013

Our stay at this property was wonderful! The view of the rolling backyard and the location is idyllic. This was our first visit to Nantucket and this rental contributed greatly to a most pleasant experience. This home is spacious, comfortable and stocked with every amenity. Big screen tv with cable, kitchen with more than ample cooking supplies, wi-fi and oversized dining table that accomodated 8 of us are some of the comforts of home. House was very clean and ready for our arrival. Beds are comfortable with nice linens. Towels are plush and ample. Washer and dryer are an added bonus. Given that we visited in the off-season (the week of Thanksgiving), we made use of mild weather by walking (to the beach, around the cranberry bogs, to/from altar Rock and around Nantucket town). The beach is welcoming and observing the seals just 10 yards out was a thrill! We did some Black Friday shopping downtown. On rainy days we enjoyed the extensive collection of reading materials, especially the coffee table books on Nantucket! The owner is extremely helpful and readily available to address any concerns or questions. He recommended restaurants and offered suggestions. We loved the Whaling Museum but didn't allow ourselves enough time for a complete visit. Guess this means that we will have to go back! Overall, a great home and a great place. You must have a car as this property is located several miles out of town. “Perfect place for a large family reunion”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2013

It was the perfect place for 4 siblings and spouse to hang out. The rooms are spacious though we draw cards to decide who gets that gorgeous room that walks out to the deck. We won, and that makes the stay more perfect for my husband and I. Having 4 bikes gave us so much freedom to explore. Nantucket is a perfect place to bike, relatively flat except 1 day we had to fight against strong wind. It was a bit hard to find at first, but it is quite convenient to get to the main road. It is not walking distance to any business, so it provides the quiet and seclusion one might look for in vacation. There is everything you need in the kitchen: we boil lobsters and grilled fish, meat and vegetable outside. We feast out and in for 5 days. In case we want to get away from the group to do some work or are fighting for bathroom, we can also spread to the "outhouse" - a very lovely self contained carriage house. Lastly, I really appreciate how helpful Bob has been before our stay and after, ensuring us with a wonderful stay. Though I have never met him, I felt like I know him from our email exchanges. Only complaint, kitchen utensils not always thoroughly cleaned.

Response from the owner Thanks Fern. We are glad that you enjoyed your family reunion on Nantucket. Thanks for the feedback. We will check out with cleaning service or perhaps need a dishwasher upgrade. Thanks for choosing to rent with us. We hope to have you back again.

“Beautiful, Comfortable, and Serene”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2013

Our family of five (Dad, Mom, and three kids; 13, 11, and 7) had a wonderful one-week stay at Bob & Virginia's house in Quidnet last summer (2013). The house is very comfortable, and the property is very private. We neither saw nor heard anyone other than ourselves while staying at the property, and neighbors/guests we'd occasionally meet on the road to the house were incredibly friendly. We made full use of the bikes on the property, riding the bike path into Sconset, and taking the very quiet & low-traffic roads into Quidnet & Wauwinet. It's about a 10-minute bike ride to the nearest public beach at Quidnet, which has both the ocean and a very large bay. Our favorite features of the property were the second floor deck off the master bedroom, the patio, and the outdoor shower, which was fantastic after a long day at the beach. Not many native Nantucketers we spoke to knew where Salti Way was. That's how you know you're staying somewhere very private. Have to add that Bob's recommendations on restaurants across every price range were spot-on, from dinner on the beach at The Galley, to a late night pizza from Pi. We'd stay again in a heartbeat. If you've never been to Nantucket before, you should know that Quidnet is roughly a 15-minute drive from town & the main ferry landings. If you plan on going into town often, you'll want a car.

“Perfect Family Getaway in Nantucket”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2013

When we pulled up for the first time and saw the property with our own eyes - my heart skipped a beat!! It was perfect, so amazingly perfect! The house has the most beautiful, soft cozy linens and the kitchen is so well stocked that I didn't even need to bring anything! (I brought my cheesecake pan from home thinking there was no way they would have one, but guess what?! They did!!) Every bed is super comfortable, every chair was warm and inviting and we were delighted at every turn. The kitchen table was large enough to host several very memorable family meals. We had experienced every type of weather, from calm and warm, to super windy and cold and then my favorite the "grey lady" exposed her amazing fog! But the house was so cozy the weather didn't matter, nor did it stop us from having a fabulous vacation. We spent many early days driving to our favorite beach down at Surfside, but then we realized that just a hop, skip and jump from the house, we found beach access just down Quidnet Rd. Not to mention the beautiful Sankaty Lighthouse (which we were so excited we could actually see from both the cottage and deck off the master bedroom!!) We used both the main house and the quaint cottage, and our only kid issue was who was going to sleep in the cottage in the amazing berth bed with skylight!! Of course having Grandma and Grandaddy in the cottage made them want to be there every more! For Grandma and Grandaddy the cottage was a perfect escape from the fast pace of a young family. They were able to use the cottage's kitchen to supplement our meals as needed, without having to get in the way of the hubbub of the main house. It worked out perfectly! Our communication with the owner was spot on from the very beginning. He was extremely attentive to our needs and questions, and worked very quickly to make sure that everything was perfect. All in all, as said in the beginning, this was the perfect family home!! We can't wait to go back!!
