“Best place in Umbria! Ideal to explore central Italy”
My husband and I spent two weeks at the villa in early September. It couldn't have been better! Malcolm and Giulia are warm, friendly and helpful and made our stay very special. This is a very large apartment, but welcoming and comfortable. It is beautifully renovated charming, clean and well-equipped. The location, very close to Orvieto is perfect as a home base for visiting the many beautiful hilltop villages, although we found our favourite days were ones spent relaxing and enjoying the grounds and the shade under the oak trees. We loved the al fresco dining on the balcony overlooking the rolling Umbrian hills and the magical sunsets on the lake. We helped Giulia harvest the figs and the berries, and enjoyed tomatoes fresh from their garden. I made a wonderful ricotta and blackberries cake and we shared it with Malcolm and Giulia under their porch with a lovely glass of chilled Orvieto. We look forward to visiting again this year, but this time we'll bring our friends to enjoy this beautiful place!

“Peace, Comfort and amazing family memories”
If you want peace and quiet while surrounded by beautiful countryside this is your place My family and myself, 2 adults and 3 teenagers stay at this fabulous property in the summer of 2011. It was centrally located and was our starting point for all of our day trips. After rushing around all day it was something we all looked forward to upon our return...peace Many nights we just sat on the veranda watching the night sky This was our first ever rental when travelling (many since then) and Guilia although not there was in contact with us and exceeded any request. All rentals that we have done since then is measured up to the standard that was set by Guilia, in a sense my own Gold Standard Thanks DB
“Fabulous place to stay, helpful owners, perfect location”
This is the second time we have stayed at this fabulous villa. We have always found the owners to be welcoming, extremely helpful and very friendly. The accommodation is finished and maintained to a high standard with all home comforts and the appliances you might require. The upstairs apartment is spacious, clean and very comfortable. The garden and surrounding areas are lovely and once again highly maintained. Even though car hire is a must, For us, the location is perfect. There is a short and pleasurable drive (approx 15-20 mins) to the beautiful shores of Lake Bolsena, where you can spend some time in the medieval old town or relax at different points around the lake. The location of the villa makes it very easy for taking in the numerous sights locally and a little further afield. There is so much to see in this beautiful area of Italy that we are going to have to return!
“Spacious, graceful, peaceful, wonderfully situated for touring h”
Our hosts, though not present, communicated fully and accurately, with directions for using the house and for visiting the area. The house is wonderfully accommodating, with large and comfortable bedrooms, an inviting lounge, huge and well-appointed kitchen, two decks, two clean and large bathrooms: perfetto. We cooked at night at home, half the nights, ate at recommended restaurants--in Orvieto and in Bolsena--half the nights. After a week in Rome, we basked in the quiet, and the long vistas, to the Lake Bolsena, across fields; and cherished the migrating birds, the lizards lounging in the sun, the bounding hares, the sounds of silence. You will miss nothing staying at this villa except bustle, well missed. Comfort and beauty at home, wonderful hill towns, wines, countryside abroad.
“A unique, relaxing holiday”
What a privilege to have 3 weeks at this interesting place ending each day with an evening meal on the terrace, watching the sun go down, usually blood red, but varied at 8,50 pm and then the stars! Seven times we saw the wild boar come out at sundown, usually 2, occasionally just one and once a family: three adults and three babies. Three times right in the field below us where we could see them without binoculars. So much to do in the afternoon and a lovely place to study or relax in the morning. Only ate out once- Bagnoregio - Hostaria Del Ponte- superb food/ menu and great views.
“Beautiful and well equipped holiday home.”
Malcolm and Giulia are helpful and knowledgeable hosts who have carefully restored their traditional farmhouse to a very high standard. We have stayed in the Bolsena Orvieto area many times and this has to our favourite holiday home. Meals on the loggia are a special treat due to the stunning view.
“TRANQUILITY AND INSPIRATION!”
We stayed at LA PORCILAIA villa in May 2009 and the experience is still with us, we are looking forward very much to returning again this year. "The primavera" explodes around the hills surrounding the villa in a multitude of flowers, rivers of yellow, purple cascading around the rocks, fields of crimson poppies dotted here and there by splashes of white and blue wild irises- wonderful for any working artist for inspiration. We would have been just content to sit and listen to the choir of the birds, but there was too much to see and discover in the nearby towns to allow us enough time for contemplation! The apartment was especially beautiful and well cared for, large, comfortable and meticulously clean; we had absolutely everything we needed. Easy shopping for any food supplies were found in nearby Bagnoregio with its delightful market and family run restaurants in Bolseno proved most enjoyable and good value for money. Although well away from it all but only twenty minutes from the railway station at Orvieto, we were able to get to Rome and Florence from there with ease. Tarquinia was one of the high spots of our visit with the museum unforgettable. There was so much to do and see locally that we did not manage to visit everywhere we wanted to in the 2 weeks we enjoyed so much last year. Can’t wait to return!
“A villa to die for!”
If you're looking for a beautiful villa in Italy for a holiday stay, this is definitely one for you. Recently renovated, the villa manages to be luxurious and welcoming at the same time. It is situated in hilly country above Lake Bolseno in Umbria, about twenty minues by car from Orvieto. The area has plenty of ancient Roman and Etruscan remains to view, and medieval cities to visit. The lake is great for swimming and cooling down. I would fully recommend the villa for a small family, or two couples.
“A lovely apartment in the country”
We stayed here for a few days at the end of our trip to Italy. From there it was an easy 2 hour drive to the Rome airport via Civitavecchia. There were plenty of sites within a 30 minute drive to keep us pleasantly occupied. Our favourite was the tiny hilltown of Civita. The apartment was well-equipped with lovely terraces to enjoy the view. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy.
