“Can't wait to return!”

Reviewed 13 Dec 2013

Jennifer - I just want to say thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home. The pictures truly do not do it justice! It is a beautiful villa in every way and you go out of your way to make sure that first-time visitors like us have a great time on the island. We enjoyed new restaurants each day and took a trip to St. John on Monday. We had perfect weather and some great time on the various beaches. My brother made an entry into the visitors' journal and I think he said very eloquently just how much we enjoyed our stay. Thanks so much for everything. Roderick

“Little slice if heaven.”

My husband, friends and I spent a little under a week at Villa Margarita last month. The short list of our requirements were easily met when researching rentals and finding this home. The reviews were also important and the location seemed perfect. The initial drive to the villa is some what of a culture shock, but in all honesty, we picked up the driving no problem. Having patience and driving slow made it easily adaptable. When we arrived at the home, we were blown away. The views from the home are breathtaking! The layout of the house is so unique. The way the home is built into the side of the cliff, it sort of felt like being in a tree house. The pool was perfect for cooling off and relaxing. We felt safe being in not only a gated neighborhood, but also a secure gated home. The air flowed through the house constantly, we never had to use a/C, which surprised us for July, but sleeping with the breeze and the calming sound of the waves breaking below was divine. We spent a lot of time at Magen's Bay, which was a 2 minute drive, we enjoyed restaurants in RedHook and hopped the car ferry to St John for the day. We really had a wonderful stay! Jennifer was really easy to work with and the amount of detail she has left at the house for it's guests, in terms of restaurant guides and things to do, really exceeded our expectations. The only "flaw" of our trip was the lack of phone and internet service. None of us had been to the island before, so we weren't prepared. This was for the island as a whole, not the house. Things are slower paced in the islands, so don't expect to be able to connect like we do on the mainland. Also, reach out to your cell carrier before you go, they can adjust your service so you are covered-should your phone roam. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation. Villa Margarita definitely lived up to our expectations!

“Villa Margarita is amazing!!”

Villa Margarita was an amazing destination. We were traveling with both our children who are 10 and 11 years old. We lucked out that Ray and Jen were on the island when we arrived. They showed us all the destinations that would be family friendly. The villa was perfect in that the kids each got their own rooms and a bathroom to share and we had the master suite with its own bathroom. The kitchen was located in a separate building and was perfect for breakfast and dinner. We got to BBQ and make the majority of our meals which saved us quite a bit of money. The kids loved the pool and would never have gotten out if we hadn't forced them. The views across the decks were breath taking. It never got too warm for us as there was always a breeze. The kids also enjoyed checking out all the lizards that live in the gardens around the villa. All the rooms have wall to wall views of the ocean and surrounding islands. It was wonderful to sit on the veranda and enjoy the evenings while the kids were in the pool!! All the amenities were in tip top shape and it was nice to have access to a washer and dryer. We traveled with only our carry on. Ray and Jen gave us great advice on what to see and when to visit town to avoid the Cruise Ship onslaught of travelers. If traveling with children, Coki Beach is a must, but we would never have known about it without Ray and Jen. They even had an umbrella and picnic stuff so we could bring all that to the beach. We did the ziplining, snorkeling, sailing, scuba diving and went to Moutaintop. All of it fabulous!!! We would recommend that if you are renting a car, get a 4 wheel drive! We definitely would go again, if the opportunity presents itself.

“Looking for a Spectacular place in the Virgin Islands ? This is”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2012

The photos are accurate ! If anything they don't quite capture the jaw-dropping views from this place ! We have been coming to St. Thomas for over 30 years, always renting a condo. I so wish we had discovered Villa Margarita a long time ago. The house is not the Ritz Carlton, but it's plenty comfortable and very spectacular ! The kitchen is great, the bedrooms are fine, with good mattresses. The main family room is awesome with killer views, comfy furniture and a good entertainment center with a very good selection of movies. The 3 bedrooms are in a separate little house which is great for those early risers. There is a wonderful breezy shaded area and stairs up to the incredible pool which is a level above the house! We continued to be blown away every moment we were there. All this is in a private gated community with a big secure entrance gate into this compound. We felt totally safe at all times and the privacy was wonderful! And gorgeous Magan's Bay is 5 minutes away ! The only negatives were that there is no aC in the main house and there are only window units in 2 of the 3 bedrooms. The owner suggests that you leave the doors (with screens) open and let the constant breeze do the cooling...and that works OK. I personally like aC and it worked fairly well in the master. We got no complaints from our grown kids who took the other 2 bedrooms. Also, the sliding glass doors are a bit hard to operate - especially to lock and unlock. Altogether, one of the 2 or 3 coolest places we have ever stayed - and we have traveled the world ! Very nice owner too ! Highly recommend this place ! -Richard S, Atlanta Ga

“Perfect”

As many other reviews, we can only confirm. The place is absolutely among the best. We visited some of the resorts on the Island, and enjoyed going back to the quietness of our "home". Villa Margarita is clean, well equipped and the views and the sound of the ocean is unmatched. The "jungle" in the backyard is beautiful too, and gives some funny experiences. We had a curious Gekko visting us nearly every night, and a couple a leguan looking at us at the pool. If you dont like them they will go away if you say buuh :-) The guide provided by Jennifer on restaurants, shpopping, supermarkets etc. was very helpful. And yes, the North Side Bistro is worth a visit. We never had to turn on the aC, because of the sea brease. On arrival, Elliot was very helpful (delayed and layed arrival), and made us pass a supermarket to get the basic necesseties. Location is very good. It is quiet, but not more than a 15-20 mins easy drive from whereever you want to go (Charlotte amalie, Red Hook, Beaches, etc). Magens Bay is 5 mins away (a top 10 National Geographic rated beach in the world). Crowded ? No, even before the day-tourists from the cruiseships go back in the afternoon, you will still have lots of space. As a family we do travel a lot. If you want a nice, well equipped, quiet place with beautiful views, close to everything on St. Thomas; this is it. Driving on St. Thomas is easy and in a slow pace. But I will recommed a car with a certain size engine. We had a Ford Focus the first day, and it just drove backwards on some of the hills. The Ford Fusion we had the rest of the holiday made the job with no problems. A tip - if visiting tourist attractions like diving or kayaking, go late in the afternoon. All the tourists from the cruise ships are gone, and you will have it alle by yourself. Enjoy your stay.

The bedroomsvall have great sea views. The master shower can see down the cliffs where the sea waves break against the rocks... It's mesmerizing. The pool is alittle cool.. But really refreshing. The whole house is so private along with the pool area.. I can't wait to go back!!

“great place”

Nice house! Awesome view !! Always breeze so no air-conditioning needed. The wi-fi connection is not that great (I think it's just a matter of weak antenna signal). Wild beach is just 10 -15 min walking distance!

“Great Time, Gorgeous View”

Reviewed 15 Dec 2011

Our family stayed at Villa Margarita in mid November. The home has the most fantastic views imaginable!! We actually set our alarm clock to watch the sunrise. The home is very accomodating and we soon found that it is the perfect location to travel to all the "hot spots." The home is very private and it has everything you need to make your vacation a stress free stay. We didn't use the pool only because we were too busy exploring the nearby beaches! I'd also like to thank Jennifer for being so kind, cooperative and patient. My husband and I had intended on this being a second honeymoon trip, but at the very last minute, we decided we wanted to being our two daughters. Jennifer was very understanding an helpful with the last minute change. We loved St. Thomas and Villa Margarita!!

“Perfect Vacation”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2011

Villa Margarita is beautiful and the property sits on the side of the cliff. Every single room on the property has a phenomenal view of the sea and a small key island. As soon as we got out of the airport, the house manager showed us the way to the villa, which we would have never found on our own. The villa is in a private gated community atop the St. Thomas island in the area near Magen's Bay (featured in National Geographic). The villa has a separate building for the kitchen and living area. This was perfect for the early risers to begin their day, without waking up the company that wanted to sleep in til noon. The fantastic private pool, overlooking the sea, was perfect for the late night social gatherings. The breeze from the sea kept the rooms cool, especially since the middle of the three bedrooms did not have air conditioning. The best restaurant on the Island, the Old Stone Farm House, is only down the street from the villa. All their guests are invited to visit with the chef to help their clients make their decisions on the excellent food. It was the perfect setting to get engaged! We looked forward to returning to the Villa Margarita everyday, after beach exploring and snorkeling. Villa Margarita was the perfect home away from home.

“Slice of Heaven”

Our stayed started with Ray meeting the six of us @ the airport. We got our rental car and followed him to the house. The girls rode with Ray and he shared a ton of info. I'm not sure we would have found the house without him. Once we arrived @ the house Ray went through eveything with us and gave us a ton of tips for the week. The view from the home is breath taking. Each room has it's own ocean view and to listen to the waves @ night was wonderful. I have to say we spent a fair share of our vacation hanging out @ the house. We had everything we really needed right there. The guy's spent a ton of time haning out on the deck watch Sea Turtles and Iguanas below. The gals spent a ton of time by the pool. Once we got out and about we found the town very easy to get around. I would love to come back to Villa Margarita. Thanks Jen and Ray for sharing your home with us and taking such good care of us. I have to say you take very good care of your guest which just adds to the experience.
