“Great deal in T ride”
I would recommend staying here if you were looking to go a little economical. Great little kitchenette with all the necessities. Clean room with 2 nice beds. The staff was outstanding and so friendly.
Response from the manager Thank you for your review. Mountainside Inn is the affordable lodging in Telluride and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Please come back anytime Sincerely, Heather White Manager
“Hassle to check in and check out (parking/room availability) but”
I do recognize that we did not choose the most expensive option during Bluegrass Fest, but this was a real hassle. Of course Telluride is overrun for the fest, but I did not realize how impossible parking would be. Of course the 15 spots were full for the 85 rooms, but advertising made it seem like we'd be able to park easily at Carhenge down the street. Of course that was full on Thursday as well. Street parking was nonexistent as well. We finally were allowed to leave our bags (after our second stop at the inn and asking)in the lobby since our room wasn't ready yet. I appreciate that at least. I understand that the room wasn't guaranteed available till 4 p.m., but I've done a lot of travelling and anytime I've asked for early check in I've never had to wait as long as we had to. (It might have been ready by 3 or 3:30. And I know that there couldn't have been that many guests that checked out from the night before because most people staying there were staying for the festival and wouldn't have come in the day before the festival just to leave. So, it shouldn't have taken housekeeping 5 hours to get a few rooms ready. Finally we had to drive up to Mountain Village to park and ride the gondola down. Also, when I called in the morning to check about early check in I was told to go to the downtown office to get my key. When I got there they said they had the wrong guest and I should go to the inn. All total from the time I got to Telluride to the time I was able to drop my bags off and find parking it took 2.5 to 3 hours. That is an extreme waste of my time and I wish that I had paid more to have a place with a parking spot. Or perhaps better advice early on offered from the hotel to drop my bags and go up to Mountain Village. Other than that the room was dated, but fine. The building wasn't too loud except for some kids running around in the hallways in the a.m. The cookies were the one thing that I would really rate positively.
Response from the manager Thank you for your review of the Mountainside Inn. Bluegrass is a very busy time and we do our best to try and accommodate our guests. But we appreciate your feedback and will take this into consideration to help our future guests have a better stay.
“Relaxing vacation in a beautiful, open space.”
Great house, easy location, and very spacious! Plenty of room for everyone. Easy walk to the river and downtown. Kind of a hike to the park for festivals, but still a great stay!
Response from the manager Thank you for your review. We are always happy to hear when a guest has enjoyed their stay. Town park is on the other side of town, which is a ten to fifteen minute walk. We hope you will stay with us in the future.
Small room with two beds crammed in. Cheap finishes througout. Minimal lighting. Clean. Classic crackerbox.
Response from the manager Mountainside Inn is Telluride's most economic accommodation, providing all the basic necessities for your visit. Be sure to call our sales department when planning your next visit to see if one of our many other options would better suit your needs.
“Had a very pleasant experience at the Mountainside Inn”
Had a great time, everything went according to plan with the Inn being very accommodating.
Response from the manager Mary Ellen, Thank you so much for your review. We enjoyed having you with us at Mountainside Inn and Telluride. How about that Bluegrass Festival? We look forward to your return stay.
“Good basic accommodations”
The room was good for two people on a budget or ski bums. Kitchenette was great, but the view doesn't warrant even opening the blinds.
Response from the manager Scott, Thanks for reviewing your stay at Mountainside. Glad to hear you found our accommodations to be a good value! For future reference, if you let one of our sales agents know that a room with a view is important they will do there best to accommodate you! Thanks again for the feedback.
“Not what I hoped”
We stayed here in July 2010, the weather was hot and it had no air conditioning. It did cool down enough to sleep eventually but workers started yelling and talking at 6:30am. Then a large crane and other construction equipment was started up at 8am just outside our window.
Response from the manager Thanks for taking the time to review your stay at Mountainside Inn. You are right, the beginning half of July was unseasonably hot! It's good to hear the room cooled down enough for you to sleep at night though. Fortunately the construction next door is going to be all finished by October, so for future stays it is not going to be an issue. Thanks again for the feedback, and we hope you come back to Telluride soon!
“Not relaxing stay”
We stayed at the Telluride Alpine Lodge. The room was fine. However, the other occupants along the hall (ski racers- college age) were loud and would not keep their door closed. After asking them to close the door 4 times, I called the emergency number provided. It took 4 calls to the emergency number to get someone to answer (the first three went to voice mail), and apparently I was interrupting because I was RUDELY told to call 911 and talk to the Marshall-this would be good information to be given out up front. The second issue was the construction. And although we were contacted and told there was construction, normally workers don’t work over the weekend, but the pounding started at 0730 both Sat and Monday (President’s Holiday) mornings. But beyond the noise, the construction workers had all the available parking Fri afternoon and filled the small parking lot in between the units, while at the same time filling the adjacent parking lot. Overall, Telluride is a nice area, but we will definitely not use your property if we return. The final insult was that every restaurant in raised their prices on all entrees on Valentine’s Day. And while I understand the practice for romantic type places, Smugglers Brewery was in on it to. We felt “price-gouged”. Additionally, why would the mountain host ski races that close runs and crowd the mountain on a holiday weekend? If I was a vacation home owner, I would be upset. We have skied all over the word, and while Telluride’s skiing is nice, I’m not sure the experience is worth the cost.
