The condo overlooks the white beaches and aquamarine waters of Destin. I was with my family of (6) with 2 in college and 2 in HS. The unit was perfect configured to meet our sleeping needs. The kitchen was modern and functional, and the common areas were more than adequate for our needs. We spent a lot of time on the porch enjoying breakfast and watching the dolphins, and in the evening, enjoying sunsets with cocktails. The condo is also convenient to shopping, food, and restaurants. It was a real winner
“Great Condo on a beautiful white sand beach.”
We especially liked the wonderful ocean views from the living room, master bedroom, and large balcony. The condo had everything we wanted: lots of room, comfortable furniture and beds, well equipped kitchen, and close to dinning, shopping and golf. We loved the small gated building and convenience to the exercise room, hot tub, pool, and beach. We would recommend this first class unit to anyone. Sarah and Blake Ohio
Our stay at Dunes of Crystal Beach 204 was good. We love Destin and being right on the beach was great. However, the unit was in need of some repairs. It was large which was good. However, the mattresses were not very comfortable and one of the bedrooms did not have a closet or window. The dresser in that room was extremely hard to open which meant the kids couldn't open it. One of the bathrooms needed some repairs (caulk, faucet fixed) and I am sure these problems have been known for a while now and it was frustrating they were not fixed prior to our arrival. The large refrigerator was broke so a small one was put in the hall by the kitchen. The pool is very small and you have to walk through the garage or parking lot to get to it. Not very safe with little children. You also need to remember 3 different number codes to move about the complex. Quite annoying. On the bright side, the picture from the balcony is accurate and the view is amazing, so if you are there for the view this condo would be great. Although your paperwork would say extra beach setups are $15 a day, they are really $20 a day. I just think for a condo that cost approximately $4000 a week you should get more than you do. Wouldn't stay there again.
Response from the manager We are happy your group loved Destin and found the beach front of Dunes of Crystal Beach great. We also appreciate the constructive feedback on how we can make stays for our future guests more enjoyable. We agree, everything should be in working order and we strive to make sure that is the case. We would never intentionally allow maintenance issues to go unrepaired. We are always grateful when guests report issues we may have overlooked so we can address them. All the items mentioned including the large top-of-the-line stainless refrigerator have been repaired. In addition to the free beach chair set up that is included with the rental, additional sets are $20 per day. (most in Destin are much higher) The typo has been corrected. The codes can be a challenge to keep up with, but the reward is the exclusivity, privacy, and security they provide. Please accept our sincere apologies for a less than perfect stay.
“We had a great week, beautiful weather, in a beautiful condo.”
The Dunes condo# 204 was lovely. The many security codes were a bit overwhelming at first, but we felt very safe and secure there. The pool and hot tub were enjoyable as was the beach. We also used one of the grills one night which was a nice amenity. The cost was substantially more than we have paid in the past but we will certainly consider staying there again next year. Staying in a place with fewer units meant quick elevator use and a quiet place at night minus loud partiers. My only suggestions for making it better would be, more trash bags for the kitchen, and clearer security code instructions.
“Spectacular & Magnificent”
Dunes of Crystal Beach provided us an extraordinary anniversary and a bit of heaven on earth. The accomodations were "above the rim" and it was great to live the lifestyles of the rich and famous. The beach manager was fantastic and the 2 world class golf courses wihtin a 5 minute drive iced the cake.
“Very nice condo that could be even better”
The code didn't work, fairly quickly resolved, but still. The gate entry is the worst, you have to get out of your car to key in the code? Condo floor plan is great, very open, spacious bedrooms. Kitchen is nice, the under counter ice maker should be required in any condo. But the kitchen was pretty thinly equipped, random glassware, little plasticware, no large cooking pots/pans, etc. Nice, but needs some attention. Very nice coffee maker with built in grinder. Linens are pretty standard fare, sheets pretty thin, not the top qualifty 800 plus thread count you'd expect in a truly top-end condo. All of the pillows need to be replaced. Nice big dining table, but 6 chairs? If you have more than 6 some get to sit at the breakfast counter of the kitchen. Again, needs just a bit of tweaking. As does the furniture. Very comfy but getting a bit used. Spots on the couch, etc. No linens for the pullout bed. In 2011 a top end home or condo will have LCD flatscreens. Not here. No biggie for us, we don't come to the beach to watch tv, but another little item that keeps this place from being truly top shelf. Balcony is awesome, full width. View is fantastic. The balcony had 5 working chairs and 1 table for a condo that will sleep up to 12. Take turns enjoying the view? Again, a detail that in a top end unit would have been tended to. This is a very nice condo, the location is awesome, the beach uncrowded because it has such a large beach frontage for just 20 units. A lesson to be learned if you are thinking "highrise." It looks very upscale, is very open and large. It just isn't quite what it could be because a lot of litle things, yet you are paying pretty much top Destin dollar. I would definitely stay here again, but only in shoulder season when the rate reflects the level of condo a bit better. With some upgrades here and there this would be a luxury unit. But understand, it is pretty darned nice as is!
“Great with suggestions”
The overall accomendations were great including the security with the type locks used. I was disappointed in the Tv's. When you pay at ther upper end for a condo you would expect flat screen Tv's with one remote(not Three). Also digital cable. I do not believe that is asking a lot when you pay $4,000.00. A comment about the fire. This facility should be if it is not already a smoke free building. I was told it was started by a smoker. And yes that was me and my two sons that put the fire out before the fire department got there. Do I smell a discount for this year or next? Room 204, Mike Landry
For our stay, we brought three generations together ranging in age from 2 to 65 years old. This condo was perfect for all of us (10 total people). The beach accesss was awesome and not too crowded. Chairs were set up and taken down for us every day. We used the pool and fitness room daily (they are small, but just enough). The balcony was large enough to store our bikes and still have plenty of room for eating and enjoying the view from it. The kitchen was well appointed (the separate, under counter ice maker was a huge hit!) and parking was never an issue (we had 3 cars). The condo has a great, open, one-story floor plan so we never felt crowded or separated by three levels. It was also appointed well from a technology perspective...great cable, wireless, DVD players, etc. The building has an elevator and carts available for arrival, departure and shopping trips in between. We have done the rental thing on numerous occassions and this one ranks up at the top. I highly recommend it!
“This condo is fabulous, perfect for a large family”
I absolutely would stay here again, condo very nice and clean, the staff with compass realty was superb to deal with and the location is the best in destin!!
“Total Relaxation in Style”
I love the Dunes of Crystal Beach. All the units at this condo are beautiful and oh so comfortable. We spent 10 days just hanging out with the kids and found this unit to be totally perfect.
