“Wonderful Vacation Destination”
My husband, two grown children and I just returned from an amazing week in Sonoma. The house was in an excellent rural location, but only minutes from Sonoma Plaza and many vineyards. The house is completely updated with a beautiful kitchen and bathrooms. Both of the bedrooms have access to either the lovely backyard or a small private deck. The yard was an oasis to return to after a day of sightseeing and wine tastings. We loved the hot tub, which was very clean and worked well. Spa towels and plastic wineglasses were provided. Donna has thought of everything to make your stay so pleasant, including a complimentary bottle of local wine. She even invited us to use the abundant tomatoes, eggplants and herbs from her garden. Her communication with us was exceptional, including a welcome email upon our arrival with some suggestions for local activities I would highly recommend this property for anyone visiting the area.
“Best Home I've stayed at--could not ask for more”
I have enjoyed staying at Casacalenda at Carneros several times and each time I've been pleased and impressed with the cleanliness of the property, the thoughtful touches Ms. Dell has taken the time to do in anticipation of my visits, the easy access to downtown Sonoma as well as the reasonable pricing. I look forward to returning as soon as my schedule permits and would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in visiting the area.
“Beautiful house in an ideal, quiet setting!”
I stayed in this house with my husband and another couple in april, 2013. We had been looking for a house that was close to the town of Sonoma but quiet and peaceful; this was exactly that! It was a 5-8 minute drive to get to downtown Sonoma square, where we ate and walked around the square. In the evenings then we would return to the house and enjoy a glass of wine on the back patio and then later the hot tub (which was very clean). Since it is out in the country a bit, the sky was perfectly clear and we could see the stars. The only noises were crickets and the occasional horse whinny; no cars or city noises! The backyard also had a cute playhouse that would be perfect for young kids. We cooked dinner at the house one night using the kitchen and grill and both were more than adequate. Simple essentials like seasonings and butter were already available, too. The internet was amazingly fast- about 13mbps both up and down.
“Excellent location, wonderful house, beautiful setting!”
This is the first house we have ever rented in Napa/Sonoma. Past trips have been at hotels. No comparison to the experience! This house is roomy, clean, has a full kitchen, two baths & more. We loved the country setting. It was peaceful, quiet and allowed us to savor the experience both inside and out. We loved the beautiful views, surrounding farms and neighboring local vineyards. Stars at night were incredible on the back porch. If you are heading to the wineries, a great restaurant or grilling at the house and almost anything else you want - you can find it a short distance from Casacalenda at Carneros. We will be regulars renting this house from year to year! You can't go wrong!!
Response from the owner Dear Guests, Thank you for your kind comments. While the pillows on the beds are down and somewhat soft, you'll find firmer fiberfill pillows in the closets, if preferred. I agree that the new firm Simmons Beautyrest mattress in the master bedroom seemed a little hard - we have since added a 2" hypo-allergenic down alternative featherbed for your comfort. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your visit to Sonoma's wine country. We look forward to your next visit to Casacalenda at Carneros!
“This place was perfectly adorable!”
We loved every inch of it and will recommend it to all of our friends. The choice of colors, furniture and accessories were wonderful and created a comfortable, memorable experience. We were able to use everything the house had available including the wine cooler, grill and even the large TV for a late movie night. The patio was perfect for dining or just watching the stars with a glass of wine. We can't wait to go back!
“Relaxing and comfortable stay in wine country”
My husband Steve and I had a wonderful stay over Memorial Day weekend with our son and his wife. the house was charming. Donna Day thought of everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was very well equipped and we cooked a wonderful dinner. There was even a fast-chill wine bucket for our white wine! The garden was lovely and we appreciated the access to fresh herbs.
“scenic setting in wine country”
A great home and homeowner in the Sonoma/Carneros area. Donna has created a warm and upscale accomodation for my friends and I to relax in. The house is completely remodeled and her patio is lovely to eat breakfast in the morning to the sounds of birds. The area is gorgeous for bike riding rolling hills planted with vines as well as horses. This home is in the best location for wine tasing both sonoma and carneros wineries. We are planning the next escape to Casa Calenda next May. The weather was perfect, not too cold or too hot.
“Wonderful stay in the wine country”
This is the first time when visiting the wine country I stayed in a home, instead of reserving a room somewhere. What a delightful experience. We were very close to many wineries, close to restaurants and downtown, but in an area with a quiet rural charm like you would see in a movie and grapes growing right across the street! One day we went into town, (so close you can ride a bike) and had lunch, visited a couple wineries and even got a massage, then found a great pizza place for dinner. The second day we choose to stay in this lovely home. It is decorated both comfortably and beautifully, with a spacious kitchen, living area and back yard. We had a romantic candlelight b-b-que in the backyard with our favorite wine of course. We will be back! This home is newer, larger, closer to everything and less expensive than our previous stay in a "room" at an Inn in Calistoga. It would be perfect for 2 couples or even a "girls" weekend. I will certainly be telling my friends.
