“Peaceful, beautiful, perfect get-away”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2014

We traveled to Ashland for a family gathering. Without a doubt, our Singing Birds get-away was the highlight of the trip. Accomodations were cozy, fresh and grounding. Thank you. We'll be back!

“Our Magical Cabin”

Reviewed 20 Nov 2013

David and I have stayed at Singing Birds 3 times now, and it's built itself into our lives as a romantic getaway, and we'll probably make our visits a tradition as we start having kids...that is, until we can build our own cabin too! The cabin is always open and ready for us when we arrive, with a fire built and ready to light on the first night...Anita makes a homemade baked good and includes it in a gift basket full of fresh fruit, granola bars, treats, and a bottle of wine...the best welcome ever! The cabin supplies as well as lovely notes around helping advise during our stay make it pretty convenient and adventurous to live off the grid for awhile. Both anita and Bob are such gracious hosts, and make themselves available, whether for answering any questions, or to share in a game of pickle ball! Each time we visit we feel at peace and so in love, and though we've spent days in a row there, we always are left yearning for a few more days to explore the property again, do another local hike, and enjoy another breakfast bundled up on the sunny porch, gazing at the beautiful pines. David and I highly recommend this little cabin, and the only reason we haven't reviewed it sooner is because selfishly, we wanted to preserve it's specialness and quietude in the country. :)

“Our stay at the singing birds cabin”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2012

To start out with wow!!! This cabin brought us such pleasure. My boyfriend and i had a peaceful and sweet time, that it took us back to ten years ago when we began. One day i was wanting to go somewhere and we both like the rustic look and far from others and our 6 year old daughter came in the computer room and hit my arm and i clicked the mouse and landed on flipkey and fell in the with the singing birds cabin and needed to go. The view, the peaceful sounds and the miles and miles of nice walks with your loved one or ones is great. The time we spent was great and stress free and we played games and talked and watched 2 movies. I am greatful for this cabin and the lovely couple who shares their part of heaven. Thank you to all who make this happen. The thing i liked the best was that there was time to remember and reconnect with others the way you forget to in your everyday life.

Response from the owner Sally, we are so glad you could come and that it was so special for you. Hope you can come back. Anita and Bob

“Awesome place to stay.”

Reviewed 9 Jun 2012

This was a wonderful choice for our vacation. We wish that we had more time just to sit back and enjoy our stay. Next time I we will skip the plays in ashland and opt for having a fire outside. There was a wonderful fire pit, horseshoes and a grill. It was hard getting a warm shower all the way through but it was all worth it just being able to stay off of the grid. The cabin had extras that where a very nice touch as well such as: coffee, cereal, sugar and plenty of warm bedding.

Response from the owner Thanks so much for coming and for taking time to write a review, Karen. I am sorry to hear about the shower problem. We will get a plumber up right away to check it out. It is an on demand hot water heater, so there should be an unlimited supply of hot water. We look forward to having you back again. Anita and Bob

“What a find!”

Reviewed 12 Oct 2011

Holy cow, what a great place! I can't even begin to tell you how absolutely perfect this cabin is! My wife and I recently spent five days here for part of our honeymoon, as she'd never been to Crater Lake, a short one hour drive away. Well, you could have knocked us over with a feather when we set foot inside. Everything was just... amazing. The view, the property, the cabin, the peace, and especially the owners who were incredible. This place makes you feel like you can just let go and relax. By the end of the five days my wife and I were truly saddened to be leaving. We ultimately stayed an additional night, as we didn't wan the magic to end. I simply cannot overstate how fantastic this cabin is. We've already told the owners that we'll be back; only next time we're bringing another couple to share in the experience. Thank you singing birds cabin for helping to make our honeymoon truly unforgettable!!

Response from the owner We were honored you chose to spend some of your honey moon at Singing Birds Cabin! Thanks for the great review. Anita and Bob

“Being in the Cascade Mountains during July and august was great.”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2011

My husband and I wanted to get out of Texas for some of the hot summer months. Singing Birds Cabin was a great spot for us. The temperatures were perfect for us. I would love to stay in the winter also, but the skies were blue, the days warm and the nights were cool. We even had a fire on two nights. Anita and Bob were very attentive to our needs. They are also gracious hosts. Anita invited me to hike with her group of friends at Howard Prairie Lake and on Mount ashland. Anita and Bob also invited us to their home to meet their friends. We liked the idea of living "off the grid". Some of our friends were amazed that we could be without TV for such a long time. Anita did help us by letting us use her modem for internet. The computer and other appliances had plenty of power from the solar system. It was great fun to stay at Singing Birds Cabin. Thanks anita and Bob.

Response from the owner Thanks so much for taking the time to review Singing Birds Cabin, Laura. It was great to have you visit us. Come back soon!

“Don't tell anyone about this cabin!”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2011

I'm hesitant to write a review because I know it won't be long before there is a long waiting list to stay at this wonderful cabin...however, I do feel I owe it to Bob and anita for being such gracious hosts. My partner and I were looking for a place to vacation with our two large dogs, and we were searching the internet for a pet-friendly cabin that was far enough away from other homes, roads, white water...anything that might prevent us from allowing them to run free. "Singing Birds Cabin" couldn't have been more perfect or beautiful. Not another structure in sight, the dogs were able to spend hours roaming the meadows and woodland on the property, the log cabin was adorable, and it was only a few minutes drive to several breathtaking lakes, creeks, and hiking trails! We picked two gallon pails of wild huckleberries and made some delicious pies, and we played many rounds of pickleball on their "natural-setting" court (surrounded 360 degrees by views of the forest and meadows). We were also lucky enough to have a couple of our dearest friends join us for a few days - we couldn't have had a better time swimming all day, throwing horseshoes, sipping wine under the trees, dining on the porch and gazing at the stars. The entire experience far, far exceeded our expectations. We can't wait to return! Thank you Bob and anita for the delicious banana bread and wine and other yummy welcome snacks. We can't wait to see the ranch in the winter!

Response from the owner Thanks for taking time to respond, Jaime and SAlly, and for the many kind words. We are so pleased you had such a wonderful time. And we give you a prize for really taking advantage of all the wonderful "amenities" up here on the mountain... ie, lakes, meadows, forests, hiking trails, etc. We look forward to your return.

“Tranquility”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2011

My wife, two daughters (12 and 9), and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Singing Birds Cabin. We were looking for peace and seclusion and we found it here. Located on an 160-acre property, the cabin sits alone surrounded by beautiful grounds. There were plenty of options to keep our kids busy. There is a "pickle ball” court, which is a fun cross between playing tennis and wiffle ball. There is also a basketball hoop perfect for a game of H-O-R-S-E, tree swings, and a horseshoe pit. Or with that much land, you can just tell them to run free and enjoy while you watch peacefully from the comfortable front porch. We had no problems with sleeping arrangements for the four of us. One daughter slept on the futon in the TV sitting area and the other slept on a pull-out couch in the fireplace sitting area. My wife and I slept up in the loft. The cabin is completely off the grid and solar-powered, and we had no issues with electricity, hot water, or any other similar concerns. However, we made sure we were practicing energy conservation to keep it that way. I cannot say enough about the hospitality of the hosts. Prior to our stay, we received multiple email communications with very helpful directions, suggestions of things to do, and other pieces of wisdom to help us enjoy our stay. I mentioned in passing in one email that we were interested in hiking trails only to find an elaborate hand-written map with directions to local hiking trails awaiting us upon arrival. Also upon arrival was a wonderful welcome basket with wine, fresh fruit, banana bread, and other tasty snacks. My wife was thrilled to find the banana bread as it is an old favorite of hers. These are the kind of special touches that go far with us and we are already planning on when we can come out again. Thank you Bob and anita!

Response from the owner Thanks so much for taking time to tell about your stay. We are so glad you had a wonderful time, and we look forward to your return visit! Anita

“Great time at Singing Bird Cabin”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2011

My wife and I had a great time at the Singing Birds Cabin. We walked in the snow, sat by the fire and read books for two days. It was so refreshing. The area is beautiful, the extremely private and the little extras like wine, fruit and fresh muffins made it a very special weekend. We'll be back!

“Just book it”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2011

Our friends thought we were nuts driving all the way from Seattle for this place, but it was worth every mile. This is a lovely, cozy cabin on a wonderful piece of property with perfect hosts. We cross- country skied each day from the door and felt like we were in another world. If a private, peaceful retreat is what you are looking for, this is it. I wouldn't be surprised that, if in 20 years, the area is populated with folks who once rented this cabin. We're already planning our return. Enjoy!

Response from the owner Thanks for taking time to review, Jennifer. It was great to share Singing Birds with your family. Anita and Bob
