“Great location to experience village life”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2013

Nice large apartment ,spacious rooms,a/c, near to lots of shops, excellent location in an area that is just at the edge of the old town...easy to walk everywhere..to the beach, restaurants ,train station. Muriel was very helpful and gracious. We would definitely go back.

“Great basefrom which to explore”

Reviewed 12 Nov 2012

We have stayed in this apartment a few times, and it has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We found it to be as described on the website, and found it extremely convenient for the shops, and seafront (just down the stepped street that runs past the front door)! It was ideally situated for both the train and bus (both of which are only minutes away. The aircon was an added bonus, as it gets hot outside! There was a bit of noise as you are at the edge of the old town, but then we found that it was balanced out for us by the fact that we didn't have top drag our suitcases through cobbled streets to get a taxi to the airport. The apartment was very clean, comfortable, and the high ceilings in the living area, and tall windows were lovely.

“Our Great stay at ' the Olive Tree'”

Reviewed 4 Nov 2012

It was our first stay in Villefranche, and The Olive Tree apartments, and thoroughly enjoyed both. The apartment was very well situated, for transport links, cafe's, restaurants, shops, a market, the seafront, and a great little patisserie opposite for your breakfast croissant! It also had all 'mod cons', and the one small problem we had, was sorted out very quickly and efficiently by the apartment manager. We will definately be staying there again, and can recommend it highly.

“Prepare to loose your sleep :-(”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2012

We have just stayed at this apartment for 10 nights and we would like to pass on a few words of warning for future guests. The apartment as such is actually nice and easily accommodates 4-5 people. On paper it seems like a good deal. However, there are a few negative sides that you need to take into consideration before booking: 1) Its located right next to a very noisy street/intersection with lots of traffic from very early in the morning until late at night, mostly from mopeds and motorcycles (sounds like they are doing racing laps). 2) There is no built in airconditioning - only mobile aircon units. This means that you need to have the windows open to use them which again leeds to item 1: noise. Other than that, the apartment and especially the area is great. Good luck :-)

Response from the manager Dear Thomas, thanks for your review. Well, I am sorry you did not see all the details about the location, about the portable air con units, as anyone who's rented with me and exchanged emails, knows that I tend to give all the details, and especially the true ones, and renters are always surpised to find out that I am more pessimistic on my emails than reality is. I am also sorry that you went for a last minute booking. I agree, The Olive Tree is not like Heaven's nest you rented last year, but the price of the Olive Tree is 30 % less a week than the other. Now, you're right, in the summer the double glazed windows cannot be closed while running the air con. That will be fixed for next year by getting the pipes to be set into the wall allowing all the double glazed windows to be shut while running the air con. Pricing will then slightly change. Muriel
