“A very nice Condo”
202 Chesapeake is an excellent unit. I was genuinely impressed by it and found few issues. Wilgus did fine. Location and facility is very nice and I enjoyed a few sunrises from the balcony. The Private beach of Sea Colony was a bit pebbley and rocky and had broken shells at the break line, but we were able to collect some shells as well!
“A relaxing, enjoyable week in a very pleasant condo.”
Wilgus was very helpful in arranging for the rental, and helpful when the coffee pot didn't work (they provided another one). The condo was well equiped and tastefully furnished. The location, with a wonderful view of the ocean, was ideal. The ability to read, see the sunrise from the balcony, relax in the hot tub and pool and enjoy Bethany's many shops were what we liked best.
“overall a positive vacation rental.”
We thought the furniture could have been a little more comfortable.especially the mattresses on both beds. We loved sea colony, very clean, and friendly. We are willing to come back some day.
“"Didn't want to leave"”
A first time stay is always a learning experience. Once we were acclimated (about one day) we enjoyed everything very much. The only sour experience we had was at check in, first dealing with one particularly inhospitable woman at the Wilgus office. Checking in is a real hassle, We were weary having driven for 7 hours in a trip which should have taken 5 and had to check with Wilgus first, then go to the other office to get our beach badges and parking sticker, then getting through the security gate and trying to find out where to go and where to park with someone who barley spoke English. Once we learned where we supposed to go, we could find no means of conveyance to get our luggage to second floor so had to make many trips ( same thing when it came time to leave). Once we were past the horrors of the first night, we had a great time. Only other problem was the curtains in the bedroom do not block out the parking lot lights sufficiently. It was brighter at night than it was in the day.
“This unit is not fancy but exceeded our expectations”
We rented 202 Chesapeake at the end of September mainly because it was inexpensive and on the beach. We had never been to Sea Colony or Bethany Beach before. Judging by the online photos, we thought we were probably in for some grunge. The furniture is funky and dated; we called it the Turquoise Palace before we even arrived. We were pleasantly surprised to find that while the furniture was indeed unusual and the carpet was worn, the whole unit was spotlessly clean. Other things were a nice surprise: We expected a sliver of an ocean view, but in fact one wall of the living room was floor-to-ceiling glass looking right out on the ocean. We left the screen sliding door open all night so we could hear the waves. Also, the furniture turned out to be great if you have kids. (We have 3, ages 8, 6 and 3.) It's all wipeable and easy to move around. The bedroom has two full-size beds, which was handy with kids. We just put all three kids in the bedroom and closed the door so that we could stay up and enjoy the balcony and the sea air. The pull-out sofa is just really shot; nobody over age 2 could actually sleep comfortably on it. We just put our air mattress on the living room floor and slept there. The Sea Colony buildings are definitely hideous, concrete '70s throwbacks, but if you can get past that, it's all kind of a brilliant set up, with every unit probably having a fabulous view, with a nice stretch of beach, with an indoor pool, with an easy walk into Bethany. We really want to come back next summer when all the activities are going on.
