“High Praise for High Dive!”
This was our second stay at High Dive and we cannot say enough good things about this beautiful property! We have three small children (3yrs, 1 1/2 yrs and 6 mths) and the house was comfortable and functional. Having the pool and private beach access was such a wonderful accomodation. The electronics are an added bonus and we enjoyed listening to our ipods through the speaker system while we were enjoying the outdoors. We were fortunate to have great weather every day and the children had so much fun. We hope to spend many more family vacations on the beaches of Seagrove!!!
“What a great trip”
The house was great. Plenty of room and fantastic view. The kids had a great time in the pool. The outdoor shower was fun and very useful in keeping the sand out of the house. Fun area with bike/walking trails all in every direction. We spent most of our days on the beach with a few trips to Sea side for dinner and ice cream and one trip to the outlet mall in Destin. Garrett Realty was very easy to work with. Overall a perfect vacation.
“"Blue Chairs" overlooking the ocean says it all!”
We were able to check in quickly and found the house clean and ready to be enjoyed. We were more than pleased with the amenities and convenience. Our families enjoy playing in the ocean, the pool, riding bikes and EATING. Our plans included cooking various meals and of course, eating out at Elmo's and The Red Bar. The decor of the house is tasteful and comfortable. The sound system - incredible and we really made the most of it-even connecting our entire Guitar Hero Wii system! We appreciated the extra pillows and blankets for the swing beds for naps and relaxing. Storage was sufficient especially since we stocked up for the entire week. But Publix was only a short bike ride away for any incidentals. We only found a few things we needed for the kitchen such as a muffin pan, additional teflon pans and an ironing board. (They delivered an iron when we discovered we didn't have one-thank you.) The Outdoor Shower is indescribable and I'm trying to figure out how I could install one at my home but it wouldn't have the view. The Carport Bedroom was perfect for providing additional private space. Bonus - We got to hear our own Hoover performer- Ryan Kinder at SeaSide Wed. evening. We can tell the young family/owners have made an effort to make High Dive the perfect beach get away. We look forward to returning next year! Please pass along to the owners! “Great view and comfortable home”
This is the second year we have stayed at High Dive. The house is very comfortable and continues to have additional upgrades. The pool is well kept and the yard is great. There is plenty of room for young children to play in the yard. The view is great with a deck on the bluff overlooking the ocean. I really enjoyed the sun room and spent a lot of time there. We will definitly be back.
“Perfect Beach House”
High Dive turned out to be the perfect beach house for our family, from grandparents to little ones. Everything was there: all one level, enough bedrooms/bathrooms and playspace, on the beach with a pool. Wow! Although it's an older house, the updates work to make it very functional and so comfortable. Got a bit too warm at night in the detached bedroom at night; an independent cooling unit might help. We can't wait to go back!
Great house and perfect for families with kids. I would recommend this house and plan to rent it again myself.
“Wonderful, perfect vacation spot”
We've been renting from Garrett Realty for years and have always had a pleasant experience. We stayed in High Dive for the first time in Sep 2008 and can't wait to get back there again. the location is perfect, we biked everywhere we wanted to go. the house is just big enough for a small family, the private pool is a delight, the deck that overlooks the beach is absolutely breathtaking. one of my favorite experiences was the outdoor shower - what a great idea!! we love the beach in September but the weather is always a risk at that time of year. bad luck, a hurricane threatened the first week we had booked and Garrett graciously rescheduled us at no extra cost. they are the best in Seagrove and have my business, without a doubt.
“Nice home, but issues with county”
The house is fine except for the detached bedroom. The air vents do not force air into that area, so basically, you should count it as un-airconditioned space. Our group LOVED the outdoor shower. I don't think anyone used any of the indoor showers. It's very private, hot/cold water, open to the sky. We loved the pool. It was great to have that since we had a small child in the group. Our biggest issue came with Ft. Walton County. We had left our stuff on the beach at night. We'd put it under our shelter when we left the beach for the day. We did this nightly. On Wednesday morning, we woke up to find every single thing GONE. The county had come by without warning, and under the 'leave no trace' policy, had taken every single thing we owned that was on the beach: all of our beach chairs, our brand new pop up shelter, shovels, buckets, games, beach coverup...everything. Indeed they left no trace. By luck, someone told us that it would be dumped at the Blue Mountain dump so we got some of it back. We estimated our loss at $600 because much of the stuff was new and had been bought for this specific trip. They claim it's to protect the sea turtle nests, but we couldn't believe that because they were bringing dump trucks onto the beach to collect it all. That made no sense to us. We received no warning the day before. We did receive a sheet at check in from the Realty company that mentioned the leave no trace rule. I think we simply did not understand EXACTLY what this meant. We thought we were OK by keeping our tent at the back of the beach and putting things up each night, but apparently it was not so. So, the house was fine, Ft. Walton County authorities were not.
Response from the manager Garrett Realty Services has printed a flyer that we staple to the outside of every check-in packet explaining the "Leave No Trace" code. We do not want our guests to experience any loss of personal possessions. It reads "Per Walton County Code Enforcement, you can leave no personal items on the beach overnight. All items left there will be removed from public and private beach areas nightly. Beach items interfere with beach maintenance, emergency vehicles and nesting turtles." We also keep a copy of the county "Notice" in our rental lobby. We are sorry for this unfortunate experience. Carole Rental Manager Garrett Realty Services
