We have been to Topsail Island at least 7 times and LOVE it there. We don't always get the same house because we have different numbers of family attending each year, however, 3 couples always come together. We stayed one time in Surf City, but really prefer N Topsail Beach. Have stayed at Hampton Colony one time and the others were single family - always - ocean front homes. This house is a very pretty house with great lay out. However, it is desperately in need of TLC... Upon arrival one of the beds was broken to the extent that no one could sleep in it so we had to take it down and put the box spring / mattress on the floor. NO ONE could figure out how to get the radio working - only two stations appeared to be available and it quit working after the first day. No CD player either so we could not listen to music. BIGGEST complaint were the Roaches! We have NEVER seen roaches in any of the homes we stayed in any time we have been there. Additionally, there were several broken chairs on the deck; and spindles missing from deck rails. The steps down to the beach at the mid-bottom level were needing cleaned up/grass growing in from the sides. The Jets in the Hot tub did not work and quite honestly we did not try to use the hot tub until Friday before we left and that is when we realized it wasn't working properly. Overall, we did like the house/set up, but were very disappointed in the general cleanliness. We probably left the house cleaner than when we arrived. There was no mop and it didn't appear the floor had been mopped before we got in. there was a broom and a broken dust pan. The garbage can was not placed by the previous tenants early enough and therefore we had no place to put our garbage until after it was picked up on WEDNESDAY! with this many people in one house, there was a lot of garbage and I am sure that somehow contributed to the roach situation, although again, we have NEVER seen roaches before! The microwave door / handle was completely duck taped; there was a hole in one of the screens on the deck which was duck taped...there were chairs around the high counter to the kitchen broken and pushed to the side. I know this review is not well organized, however I am trying to put all the issues out there. I also would like to mention some of the positives... loved the set up generally; liked the lay out of the kitchen. loved that there was a separate ice maker! loved the access to the beach. the parking area was good. location generally great! living room furniture was comfortable; recliners especially. My issue with Treasure and/or the owner of this house is that in looking at reviews from last year the same complaints were made. i.e... broken spindles on deck; broken chairs for the deck, roaches, lack of garbage cans. The response last year was that the issues would CERTAINLY be addressed and obviously were not; That is disappointing. General maintenance and cleaning should be better. There should be maintenance done on the stereo system to make it easier to use and ensure that it works WITH the speakers placed all over the house and decks. We will not book this house again for fear of these issues not being resolved. Our vacation with our family on this beach was wonderful - aside from the fact that our accommodations were less than optimal.
“Great house, but needs thorough cleaning”
The house is in a prime location and has a wonderful open space for the whole family to gather. We had a major problem with roaches on all 3 levels. There is only one trash can, so there is no place to put your trash other than in the lower floor by the door (if you put them outside the mice chew through the plastic and leave a mess). By the end of the week you have a major stack of garbage, which is a breeding ground for roaches. The master bathroom shower was dirty, and had a used bar of soap when we arrived.

This home is treated to prevent bugs, but we can always send an exterminator out to administer additional treatments as necessary. I will pass along your comments about the trash to our maintenance department and see what we can do about getting some additional trash bins for this home. During the summer months, the city picks up trash twice a week (on Tuesdays and Saturdays). Unfortunately, sometimes the guests ahead of you may not take the trash to the curb, so that the bins can be emptied as scheduled. We have stayed on Topsail for 20 years. This house and the location was great. We did have some issues. Hot tub not working but this was addressed very quickly. Refrigerator was leaking and this was also addressed very quickly but not resolved until after we left. The house was beautiful and we loved every bedroom having its' own bathroom. Very nice layout. The kitchen was so well stocked and we appreciated that. We did not report the steps going down to the beach. There were exposed nails and boards that were so worn down. We were so glad that we did not experience an injury and really should have reported this.

“Beach front was awesome!”
We loved the house except there were just too many steps. If the house had been only 2 levels, it would have been much easier on the ones who have trouble going up and down steps. We had an issue with the TV in one of the kids rooms. We weren't aware until after the office was closed on Saturday, so we had to wait until Monday to call for repair. The guy finally came - said he would be back that afternoon but never did. In total, I had to call 3 times to get this replaced. The icemaker never worked properly on the refrigerator. I called about this on Monday at the same time I called about the TV. After the 3rd phone call, someone was nice enough to bring us ice but no one ever came and repaired the ice maker the whole time we were there. We had to continue buying bags of ice.

“To maney things wrong”
The ocean was incredible,but the house neede lots of attention ,the fridge ,the icemaker was not working ,on all floors plus outside the light s needed to be replaced,dishwaher did not pump properly ,the phone was not working ,the outside chairs werebroken ,and not enough chairs ,spinles werebroken on the deck, The tv had problemns, It most likely cleared up ,but we had a full day of people t traighten the problemns out ,we had to call 2 days in the row to get most of the problemns resolved, The slipcovers in the living room needs cleaning. Its a lovely home ,but the owners should make sure that the house is ready for the renters,.

“easy, stress free, relaxing”
The best, most relaxing, easy vacation i have ever booked. We drove in from Long Island(16 hours with a 3 and 5 year old) and we were welcome with open arms (though we were early)!We booked it on line and had confirmation by mail a few days later. All questions were answered by phone before we even arrived. When we arrived, some sea shells got stuck in the trash compactor, got jammed and was fixed within the hour of the request to be fixed. Also, it was the year hurricane Earl came through. Treasure Reality came that morning and batten down the hatches, so to speak, to keep us and our family safe. They came in and were gone without us even knowing they were there. Our vacation wasn't disturbed at all. We are booking our next vacation with them as we speak! Go Treasure Realty!! You Rock!!

“We all had an amazing time!”
The home was beautiful. Clean, large and the deck furniture was a plus. The hottub was great and used alot. Access to the beach was very good. Location on the island was perfect-favorite part was that we saw a turtle hatching about 3 houses down. Least favorite was that the trash (outside) had not been emptied upon our arrival and was overflowing by the time we left. We did have to call maintenance one time & they came right away (I think for the hottub?)

The home was clean and near the beach. There was plenty of space for multiple families.
“This house saved our vacation!”
Upon arriving at the house we had rented, we found it to be less than acceptable. I called Treasure Realty and they worked quickly on Friday afternoon (after 4 PM) to find us another place, which turned out to be this house! We loved it and all was well. Hats off to a very understanding office manager whose goal was to have a happy customer! This fall will mark our 5th year at Topsail and we have always found the office staff to be very cordial and accommodating!
