A bright two-bedroom apartment on the first floor of a small, quiet residence, furnished with comfortable English furniture, (two double beds and one single, bath/shower, fan-assisted oven, microwave, fridge,T.V., washing machine and radiators in all rooms).There are fans in the bedrooms and living room. French windows in the living room open onto a balcony with a superb view of Port-Vendres harbour, and there is a second balcony overlooking the yachting harbour and the Albere Mountains. There is a private car park at the rear. Overlooks charming harbour on the Vermillion coast, with easy access to shops, restaurants, harbour and clean beaches. Port-Vendres is a lively fishing village and port with breathtaking scenery where you can stroll in the vineyards or bathe in the clear water of a secluded cove. Linen hire. Climate & Surrounding Countryside: Sheltered by the Pyrenees, this part of France has an exceptionally mild climate and more than 300 days of sunshine a year. The Tramontane wind comes from the North West and chases away any rain clouds! Port-Vendres lies in the foothills of the Pyrenees, on whose steep slopes are grown some excellent wines, notably the delicious fortified wine of Banyuls. Those wishing to walk can follow the many mule tracks through the vineyards or walk along the cliff tops and experience breath-taking coastal views of the Corbiere mountains to the North and the Costa Brava to the South. The rugged coastline provides charming secluded beaches and opportunities for fishing and scuba diving.
Beaches & Attractions: There are a variety of beaches within easy reach. There are several small beaches in Port-Vendres itself, restaurant-bedecked beaches at Collioure and Banyuls, a nice family beach surrounded by vineyards with bar and restaurant at Paulilles, (which takes five minutes by car or can be reached on foot along the cliff tops) and long sandy beaches four miles to the North at Argeles.
In Summer, a little yellow “train” runs from Port-Vendres to the historical village of Collioure, passing through the vineyards. Famous for its clock tower and chateau, it has long been the haunt of artists, such as Picasso and Matisse, and artists can be seen at work around the harbour.
The region is steeped in history and many interesting excursions can be made to its medieval villages, fortresses, Cathare chateaux and beautifully restored Romanesque abbeys.

Port-Vendres is a charming fishing harbour and port situated on the Mediterranean coast 15 miles South of Perpignan and ten miles North of the Spanish border. It is reached by road via the N114 which leaves the motorway network just South of Perpignan. There are Summer flights to Perpignan from Gatwick and Port-Vendres is only an hour from Gerona airport in Spain which is served by Ryan Air and flights from regional airports.
With a population of 5000, Port-Vendres is animated by its small working port, which is sometimes visited by cruise liners and the arrival each day of the fishing boats with their catches of anchovies, tuna, etc., which are sold at the fish market or from the boats themselves. The Palm-lined yachting harbour quayside has an abundance of shops, cafes and seafood restaurants and the Place Castellane provides a venue for open-air dances and the many cultural festivities.
