“Nice location and condo that skimps on nice amenities and could”

Reviewed 27 Mar 2014

The condo is in a lovely area and has many nice furnishings and nice appliances but that's where the high-end feel ends. From scratched-up very junky cookware, to awful wine glasses to rough, thin, old towels, cand racked plates they are clearly trying to save money but just a few hundred dollars would go a long way. Additionally, the patio furniture is old, there are no lounge chairs, and no patio chairs on the upper lanai. Walls are dinged up, bathroom cabinet area is warped from shower water, toilet seat doesn't stay up because it was built incorrectly against a shelf. When we arrived the windows were very greasy and had a film on the inside with fingerprints, like maybe a little kid was there with a prior renter and rubbed sunscreen all over. I left Tim a message and he never had it cleaned nor even returned my call. I did later call about the cookware, glassware and towels, a few of which were replaced by a lovely cleaning/maintenance woman but weren't really much better. I appreciate she tried with what Sullivan gave her. The condo does have nice furniture and nice bedding and again, is in a nice location, but Sullivan/owner is skimping where they can. If you like to cook/drink wine/sit on the lanai, this condo does not have what you need. Also, the entire complex does not have any hot tubs. My fault for assuming, but a word of warning in case you enjoy a hot tub.

Response from the manager Aloha Lizbeth, I'm not the housekeeper, but I did call the housekeeping company we use and she said she would go back and take care of it, so I assumed it had been taken care of. I will have to have a chat with them. It's unacceptable in my eyes. Regarding all the other issues you had we will tend to those items. Thanks for taking the time to fill out the review, it's very much appreciated. Mahalo, Tim Wendling 1-888-669-032

“Beat expectations, we'd like to keep this place secret because w”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2013

We stayed two places on our trip to Maui. 5 days here, and 3 days at the Westin Villas in Kaanapali. We preferred it here, at about 1/2 the cost of the Westin. We definitely plan to return, probably next year at the same time. I give 5 stars not because it was perfect... it was near-perfect, but for the price it can't be beat. We first picked the Kapalua beach because we wanted to be near a beach that was calm and had great swimming and snorkeling for our almost 3 year old toddler and our 10 year old. After doing some research on accommodations we found the bay villa's and picked 38G3 because it seemed to be a very close walk to the Kapalua beach. We were impressed and upon arrival learned that really any of the units 38 - 35 would have been great in terms of distance to the beach. We walked to Kapalua or Napali beach nearly every day we were there. We were impressed with the unit itself and how updated it was. While it did not affect us, we noticed it may be difficult for wheelchair bound to access the unit. When making the reservation a previous review on tripadvisor stated there was a problem with the aC, and it was fixed later in their week. We didn't have any issues with the aC. There is so much to say about how much we liked this location and contrasting with Kaanapali it was far less crowded and felt way more relaxing. Keeping in mind that we loved the unit and will be back, here's some constructive feedback: The hide-a-bed could be more comfortable. Maybe a different mattress where the springs can't be felt. A nice memory foam one from amazon may fit the bill. Frankly, maybe next time we stay we'll ship one there and can work with the owner to give us a credit and we'll just leave it there. There wasn't really a great place to hang wet clothes. We used the stair rail, but a shower string or an outdoor place to hang wet clothes would be nice. Set the wifi password to the door key code, and that would make internet secure and easy.

“2nd Visit, Wonderful again”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2013

We have stayed in this unit twice in the past two years with our son, now 6.5 years old. The unit is nice with a spacious bedroom, two lanais, a very workable kitchen and decent bathroom. There are also enough things to do and the other scenery is so fantastic, I don't mind the golf courses. The unit is away from any hustle and bustle, but the two nearby beaches are five minutes in either direction but completely different but great in their own ways. At one, huge turtles literally at your feet with calm water and a concession stand. And at the other, waves, fewer people and soft sand. The big lawn at the rear of the unit is great for kids or laying out. Birds, geckos and toads provide a bit of wildlife. Cocktails and a sunset looking at Molokai and Lanai from the terrace of the Plantation House were stunning. One of the most spectacular and pleasant experiences I have had in recent years. On the downside: the unit is in some ways looking a little worn in places. The carpet has spots in it where it looks like someone tried to clean with bleach. And the bedding is a bit thin, to the extent that the bottom sheets don't stay attached at the corners, which can really mess up one's sleep. On our first trip, there were sand toys and boogie boards in a closet to use which were fantastic and unexpected, as well as a table and chairs on the upper lanai. This time they were gone and I missed them. Overall, I really like this unit and the experiences I have had and would rent this unit again, but I would speak to Sullivan Properties about the bedding and the missing table upstairs. It is the only place I have stayed on Maui, but from my research on the area, the price is fantastic for such a spacious and private condo compared to the shoebox-shaped hotel rooms at other nearby resorts.

“Ideal Location but Need more air”

Reviewed 22 May 2013

Nicely furnished, with lots of room for two people to spread out. It was equipped with everything needed for cooking and the washer and dryer were great to have available. Location is great - just quiet enough but close to everything. Three beaches within walking distance. We snorkeled at both Kapalua Bay and Napili Bay and had a great time. Beautiful coastal walking trail right in front of the condo goes to all 3 beaches I would give 5 stars if not for one problem. To explain, let me say that one of the things I love about Hawaii is the nice breezy weather and the fact that you rarely need aC. We love fresh air and open windows. It is my fault that I did not look closer at the details before booking and assumed the windows that I saw in the photos were mostly windows that open. When we checked in, the unit was very warm and stuffy. They were still there cleaning and the aC had not been turned on. It was a rather warm day (about 88) at about 3 in the afternoon. We discovered that most of the upstairs windows do not open. There is a lanai off of the bedroom and it has a door, but no screen. There is a tiny window in the bedroom but it is near the floor and partially covered by the dresser. The afternoon sun hitting the big windows makes the room very warm and no way to get a good breeze in there. We turned on the aC and it literally ran the entire night and finally cooled things off by the next morning. None of the windows had screens on them so I worried that bugs would get in. but really did not have any problems with bugs even with the windows open so we did leave them open as much as possible. We tried to use the aC as little as possible but some days, we just had to use it to cool off the house since their is not enough breeze in there. If not for that, this condo would be ideal.

“Nice unit-no air!”

Reviewed 14 May 2013

View from the unit was great; unfortunately, we paid for an air conditioned unit only to find that the air conditioner was broken. Upon arrival (Friday), we called Sullivan who notified us someone would be by to fix the unit. No one had come, so on Tuesday, we called Sullivan again, only to be told that the unit was broken and needed to be replaced. Sullivan indicated that it had broken 3 weeks prior. Funny, I received a confirmation email from Sullivan with no mention that the unit was broken or providing any other unit options or rental fee reduction. On Thursday one day prior to the end of our stay, with no notice, air conditioning repair men appeared at the front door at 8:30 am. As we needed the unit fixed,(even for one day), we allowed entry - while still in our pajamas. The repairmen were fantastic. Wish I could say the same for the service from Sullivan Properties. Very disappointed considering the cost of the unit and the fact that we paid extra for air and nothing was done about the issue prior to our arrival (especially since Sullivan was aware of the air conditioning unit's status).

“Relaxing location”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2013

Our unit was very spacious with comfortable furniture. Although it was set back from the beach, we had a good view of the ocean from the upstairs bedroom. There was a good walking trail which led to one of the nearby beaches. The location of the complex was a short distance north of the busy Lahaina area, which was good for relaxation but not real accessible to moderately-priced restaurants. The kitchen could have used a few more utensils, and the promised coffee starter pack was missing in action but delivered upon request the next day. When we arrived, the unit was warm and stuffy, and we were unable to get the a/C to work. Upon request, a maintenance man came the next day but could not solve the problem. He said the a/C repair people would come to solve the problem, but no one came during the five days we were there. As a result, the unit was warm, but due to ceiling fans, was not unbearable.

“Beautiful location”

Stayed here two weeks. Very nicely furnished with stainless steel appliances and confortable couches and bedroom. Short walk to beach, nice deep pool with grill.

“A totally awesome family vacation”

Reviewed 21 Sep 2012

From check in to check out we had nothing but perfect service. The true aloha spirit! Any questions we had were answered immediately. Couldn't have been better and will do again and again. The Villa fit the size, and needs of our family very well. The furnishing were very up market and comfortable. The outdoor space provided a comfortable tropical feel. We felt we were within walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shops. Lots of snorkeling and beach walking, I loved the feel of the Villa inside and out. It was tropical and comfortable with a kick off your shoes feel. We would have loved access to the Ritz pool.

“very nice facility and help when needed from Sullivan Properties”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2012

Erin took really good care of us in making the reservations and everything else connected with our brief stay, and the home was very, very comfortable. Location was excellent being very close to the ocean and with a great view. Sorry, can't pick out one thing that we liked. Can only say that we liked it all and are looking forward to coming back next year.
