“Could not have been better.”
My sister-in-law is a seasoned traveler. She loves the Big Island of Hawaii. When she said she wanted to do Hawaii the way I do Hawaii, I was thrilled, but nervous. By the end of our nine day stay, she is the one that said it could not have been better. The ocean breezes and view were mesmerizing to her. I frequently caught her staring at the the beautiful ocean view from our lanai. The ccondominium has the hotel feel with amenities but with the privacy and comform of a condo. She loved it and so do I!!! Minutes from restaurants and shopping. On the beach!
“A super pleasant experience for us.”
August 2013. All 3 of us walked into #231 amazed by how nice it was. Two terraces to sit outside. All appliances new & working; two flat screen Tv's w/ DVD player, washer/drier; soaps, towels, shampoo, paper towels, etc., all there. Even a boogie board & noodle. We parents used king bed in bedroom, teen daughter slept on sofa in living room w/ sheets & blanket provided; but a roll-a-way bed in closet could have been used. Minor negatives: tap water, good enough to quench thirst, tastes odd (not like good NYC water), so you need to buy bottled water 1.5L for 99cents at small grocery store across street, with which to make morning coffee. Parking spaces at Sands are too narrow, hard to open car doors once parked (free parking came with our unit #231), but there are plenty of spaces at Sands. Also, as a lap swimmer I would have preferred the pool open at 7 am rather than 8am, but as it turns out, I was comfortable swimming parallel to the beach in the ocean fronting the Sands, for the equivalent exercise. We grocery shopped for staples, at a Walmart near airport, after picking up our rental car, on our way to Sands of Kahana (40-50 min drive from airport). No veggies or fruits at that Walmart, but good for drinks,, bread, milk, liquor of all sizes-types-prices, chips, lotion, bathing suits and most everything else. A recent edition of Maui revealed is a terrific guide (our used 2010 edition worked). Has detailed maps & descriptions keyed, e.g., to best beaches, pools beneath waterfalls, eating places, surfing, scuba, hiking, snorkeling, etc. The authors have been to all the places anonymously and rate them. Well, have fun. I don't think you'll be disappointed staying at the Sands of Kahana, at least while at #231.
“Not as expected”
The condo was very adequate in space. The bed was comfortable. I found cockroaches!! Not acceptable. The fans were dirty, the fridge was dirty, as well as the freezer. There needed to be a better job done with cleaning overall. If everything was to be cleaned within an inch of its life, it would have been more comfortable to be there.
Response from the manager We are very concerned about any issue involving the cleanliness of the condos that we manage. We do review each unit on check-in day to assure they are ready for the incoming guest. Please, in the future, call us, we are close by Sands of Kahana and we will address any concern you may have about the unit you rented. Mahalo, Steve Moses, GM Sullivan Properties, Inc.
“Condo good, surrounding noise factor a problem”
We liked the condo, the view, etc. But, this was negatively impacted by the noise from the Engineering Dept. just below the condo.
My wife and myself really enjoyed the stay in this condo, very comfortable clean with all the things to feels like home, but with a beautiful ocean sound and view!!! We will defenetly come back
“wonder stay and great view”
Very nice unit with excellent ocean view. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
“Don't stay in SOK Unit 231”
We stayed at Sands of Kahana from 9/8/12 through 9/15/12 in #231. Unit 231 is directly on top of the "Maintenance/Engineering" Department. They make a lot of noise - welding, hammering, chopping up palm trees, etc. The way the unit is situated, the bedroom gets all the street noise, too. The unit is decorated with French details instead of island style, and we just didn't like it. One of the bathrooms has no opening window and no vent either. It is dimly lit and needs new lighting. The linens in the kitchen are old and stained. There is grimy dirt in the louvers of the laundry room door, and everything else was plain dusty right down to the baseboards. However, Sullivan Properties provided excellent service in terms of reservations, check-out, and even let us move into the unit early in the day. I own a week of my own at SOK, so it's just this one unit I'm so unhappy with.
“Fabulous Room with great views!”
Loved our recent stay in #231! Wonderful condo that had everything, even and air conditioner in the bedroom which was very nice. Rooms were very clean, and everything we needed was there. Sands of Kahana is close to all the things we wanted to do. Our favorite part of the condo was the 2 patio's. In the morning we sat facing the ocean, in the afternoon we sat facing the mountain..Perfect weather the entire time we were there! Will definately be back!
Response from the manager Aloha Missy, We are glad you enjoyed your stay at the Sands of Kahana. Now as a return guest, please call us the next time you are planning a Maui Vacation. Mahalo, Steve Moses, GM
