“Steep Driveway”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2013

Stayed in this house and the house next door (Carolina on My Mind, which I would rate Excellent!) for one week. Worked out well for us because we wanted two houses together, and could use the other house's parking. Cons: Super steep driveway, with limited parking; No pantry or other space to store food (only a locked owners closet-which by the way, needs to be labelled) Limited cookware; Counter chairs (metal legs) noisy in room below Pool, a little small Dining Room table sturdy but top is deteriorating Pros: Overall very comfortable Oceanside, but still a bit of a walk to the ocean because you can't cut through the yards to get to townhouses for a shortcut Has a pool Bunk bed room is on lowest level- only a con if you want to be on same level as your kids Wood bunk set is nice (prefer wood over the squeaky metal ones) Housekeeping/maintenance comments (Corolla Classic Vacations): Numerous lightbulbs not working Cobwebs and spiders inside in kitchen light areas Good, fast response by exterminator when we reported ant infestation, although he showed up at lunchtime, between 12 and 1, not ideal because we had to clear kitchen counters.

“Great location, get a little workout, and enjoy your stay!”

Our 3 families (one from pa, NJ and Toronto) arrived to this Corolla escape for a week-long vacay on august 18th. The steep pitch of the driveway would've been a surprise, but luckily we had a head's up by some recent online reviews (that weren't available at the time of our booking) so it took a couple tries to figure out the best way to park our minivan (enter/park frontwards, back out slowly - all attempts reversing up the drive scraped the undercarriage). We looked at the pool right away - basic, rectangular and on the small side, with a hot tub tucked away in a far corner of the patio area. Besides a good sweeping, it all looked fine enough for our 5 young kids to use for the week and we were happy to find the clean, outdoor shower next to the pool. Inside the 3 story building we were very pleased with the layout (master bdm by the kitchen, 2 queen bdrms on the 2nd floor, flanked by the twin bdrm for our young girls to use, and the older boys claimed the double bunkbed room for the week). Perfect setup for our needs. Thanks to those online reviews, we knew to bring a lot of our own cooking equipment and lower our expectations of the kitchen's appliances. The thing we noticed right away, was that the house had an ant problem in both the kitchen/dining areas (incl the dishwasher!) and the guest bath. We purchased ant traps for the week and it seemed to alleviate the problem. There were ample linens in the house (although there was one old, used towel in my bathroom), there's a deck from every room (and great views since the house is elevated, so private too) the beach/Oceanfront Grille was a short 5 min walk from the house, and due to the steep driveway, there was no need to bring the garbage can to the curb on trash day (bonus!). Take advantage of the resort programs - just skip crabbing or save $2 and bring your own chicken leg (you're welcome!) This house suited us fine - just go with a relaxed attitude and know that you're working your quads for the week!

“Disappointed”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2013

We were disappointed with this house in many ways. It is hard to tell from the picture but the driveway is so steep and dangerous, especially to children walking or running down it. It hard to even drive your car up this driveway! The appliances were old and worn out. How frustrating to have a silverware basket with holes in it so all the flatware fell through. The coffee pot did not work. Refrigerator made a lot of noise, ice maker not working well. Tvs were very old, no flat screens and still had Vcrs on most TVs only one DVD player. For as much as they charge for this rental, it is time to update this house to 2013. The pool was awesome which was the saving grace.

Response from the manager I am sorry to hear you were disappointed in this home. We are going to replace the coffee pot and have the Maintenance Department check out the ice maker. Should you ever find appliances that aren't working correctly again, please don't hesitate to give us a call. We would be more than happy to fix them for you during your stay! Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you letting us know so that we can make improvements for the future! Mallory Communications Coordinator mallory@corollaclassicvacations.com

“For the price, I expected more...”

Reviewed 6 Jul 2013

Shore to Please is a spacious and pleasantly-decorated beach house, but it has some significant flaws: the driveway is extremely Steep--far more than the photo indicates. Our 4-wheel drive was a necessity for parking in the carport to unload passengers and groceries. The master bathroom only featured a small shower (Corolla homes that rent for less feature bathtubs and even Jacuzzi tubs). The kitchen was seriously under-equipped (pans without lids and only 2 serving dishes and one platter. Few kitchen linens and only the lowest quality of countertop appliances. Dining room table showing significant wear-and-tear. Household electronics (TVs) are due for an upgrade--even the Corolla Hampton Inn has plasma tv. Home décor is pleasant and comfortable. More attention to kitchen and master bath would go far to provide value more reflective of the rental price.

Response from the manager Thank you for your feedback. I will share you comments with our Property Assessment Manager who makes recommendations to the homeowners. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know where we can make improvements! Mallory
