“Ok but challenges”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2014

Great location. Nice decor and furnishings for a vacation rental. Great back yard. negative: very dangerous stairs for young children. One of our guests had an asthma attack and the rental company has been far from helpful- we too paid a $100 cleaning fee and didnt expect to have issues with pet hair. We also wondered what we paid for if we had to empty all the trash and put the dishwasher on or risk another cleaning fee, seemed a little much and we have never expereinced this with any other rental we have stayed in.

“Beautiful home with everything you need ...”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2014

The rental company was extremely friendly and made the entire experience, from check-in to check-out very easy. The home was in a great location, just a few blocks from town. The decor was updated, the entire home, including the back yard was extremely clean and well kept. We were very impressed and will definitely stay again!

“Great weekend!”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2014

We had such a wonderful time! The home is cozy with everything updated. Nice patio to have your morning coffe and read the paper. Nice kitchen with everything that you need to cook a nice meal and very convenient to walk to town. It is just missing like a hot tub... We will stay there again. Also the management company was really good!

“Great house in downtown Paso”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2014

Great house walking distance to downtown Paso. Very clean and comfortable. Good size kitchen and living spaces. Great outdoor spaces. Nice quiet neighborhood. Would have liked to have access to a washer/dryer. The backyard would have been lovely with a fire pit - but understand this is a rental. Parking was on street - no problems. I would totally stay here again. Some missing items in kitchen - i.e., there was a hand mixer but no beaters.

“Nice Charming Getaway”

Reviewed 8 Jan 2014

The Good...the house is in an excellent location. The walk to downtown Paso is mere minutes. With so many restaurants and bars and shops, you never need to get into your car while staying there unless you want to go to the wineries. The place is great for dogs. Both the front and backyards are fenced in so your pooch can hang outside without you having to worry about it getting out. Also, the surrounding neighborhood is a nice place to a dog walk. The furnishings are stylish yet comfy. The Bad...the downstairs bathtub hadn't been truly cleaned in awhile. It is a nice jetted tub that calls out to anyone who likes to take a nice bath. Well, once I filled up the water, weird algae-like black blobs started to appear. Then, when I turned on the jets, more black stuff came out of the jets and the bath became a swirling cauldron of yuck. Another negative, and this might sound nitpicky but I will still mention it, no Kleenex in the house. I think the bathrooms should have a small box of tissues. The staircase is extremely steep. If you are elderly, have bad knees, or have young kids, the stairs could possibly be dangerous because they are so steep. Lastly, there were check-out instructions left on the counter in the kitchen. Two of the items mentioned on that list were sort of lame considering we paid a $100 cleaning fee when we rented the place. The first was that we had to take out all the garbage. The second was we had to do all the dishes or else another cleaning fee was going to be assessed. I get not wanting to leave the place in shambles but after packing up the car and getting ready to leave, we had to go to every waste basket and collect the garbage and take it out to the black trash can on the side of the house and wash and dry the 2 wine glasses we used while there and put them back. What does the $100 cleaning fee go towards? All in all, it is a nice house with some quirks with a great yard in a stellar location. I would stay there again.

“Great times in Paso!”

We had an amazing time! The location was excellent and we enjoyed the house very much!

“A great getaway for family of six”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2012

The house was attractively decorated and, though small, comfortable for five adults and one three year old. Located on a pleasant street within easy walking distance of the large tree-shaded central square with its playground. We spent a week there and enjoyed both the house and historic Paso Robles and surroundings. Well appointed kitchen, small garden, no washer dryer.

“The best 30th anniversary.”

Reviewed 2 Mar 2012

What a great time we had at Olive Gate. Felt just like home. The backyard is awesome. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised at how much we loved Olive Gate. The front porch was our evening place for a glass of wine and watch the sun set. It was only a few short blocks into the heart of town where we had dinner every night. We will definitely come back.

“Fun & relaxing 40th birthday with friends”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2011

There was 6 of us who had a blast @ olive gate we loved the character of the house. This place has an amazing backyard where you can relax with a bottle of wine and look at the stars. My friends and I would definately recommend olive gate and the rental company. They even helped decorate the house for my friends 40th birthday. Can't wait to go back.

“Lovely historic house in downtown Paso”

Reviewed 7 Jun 2011

What a great experience! The house is on a smallish side but charming, its historic character fully preserved even with all modern conveniences. The size of the garden and the wonderful seating areas in the backyard fully make-up for the smallish living-room as you'd want to spend as much time as possible al fresco. 5 adults and a dog were as comfortable and happy with the arrangements as possible. Walking distance to the charming Paso downtown.
