“Smart Cottage”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2013

Greybeard personnel were wonderful. The cottage was adorable. Loved the neighborhood; peace & quiet. The driveway was a tad intimidating but the walk to market & cafe was exhilarating and convenient. Including 2 baths in a 1-bedroom cottage is just Smart! Black Mountain is an adorable, quaint town, and the access to asheville allowed the best of both worlds. Great Choice.

“Interersting/enjoyable for our first time. (see comments)”

The Sparrow Cottage (house) was great. The following comments apply: driveway/access...Terrible television/cable...Archaic Cheshire area/location...Great Greybeard personnel...Great I look forward to next year and another rental.

“Fun week at Sparrow Cottage”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2012

Nice little cottage with a great view and nice surroundings and great location. Well appointed for a rental, very comfortable bed. Driveway is a little challenging but not a problem. Nice walking neighborhood, easy access to restaurants and grocery store, easy drive to asheville, hiking in Montreat or other adventures.

“Awesome Get away!”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2012

My wife and I had a fantastic time on our "baby moon" in Black Mountain. It's suceh an amazingly beautiful area. We have friends in the area and love to visit. They have a new son so we wanted to give them some space and us some rest before we welcome our own new addition. We looked at places on Tripadvisor and this one fit perfectly. We loved the area, it was close to their home in Old Fort and was reasonably priced and more provate than a hotel. Plus we could bring the dog! Very modern cottage, perfect for 2 or even 2 + some children. Great location right near downtown Black Mountain within walking distance of a few good restaurants. Friendly people in the new neighborhood. Just a really great spot! Make sure to visit Foothill Family Farms at the Saturday Farmers Market in Black Mountain and pick up some great food for your stay.

“Petite cottage with a great view - perfect romantic get away”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2012

I've stayed at the Sparrow at least 10 times. It's the perfect spot for me. It's a small cottage but has everything anyone would need, including washer/dryer, full kitchen, fireplace and a lovely view of the mountains. Constructed and appointed in an arts and Crafts style this place is filled with light. I've been there alone and also with my better half. The Cheshire community also offers complete satisfaction with great eateries, a fantastic artisan Market and gorgeous homes just steps from the front door of this place. It's a walkable community where everyone greets everyone else with a cheerful smile, at the very least. My only complaint is that, while the Sparrow is still very young, it's starting to show a little age. The exterior is beginning to ask for a little attention. Otherwise, the place delivers on the promise of comfort and and convenience in a place that's really wonderful.

“Perfect Location”

Reviewed 30 May 2012

Cottage was very clean and even smelled good! Everything worked including the grill. Even had fresh ice cubes in the freezer and the pumpkin bread was a surprise...and thank you Greybeard! Shop at Ingles for your basics and a must at the artisan Gourmet Market in the village for your special items. We parked on the street in front of the house which made it very easy. The location to asheville and the surronding area was a dream. Hoping to relocate here!

“Wonderful getaway cottage!”

Reviewed 28 Dec 2011

My husband and I rented the Sparrow Cottage for four nights for a pre-Christmas getaway. It was a wonderful spot to stay! The cottage was the perfect size and quite cozy for the two of us and our dog. We enjoyed the balconies, the mountain views, the gas fireplace, and the community it is in. It's very easy to get in and out of both Black Mountain and asheville from this location. It is well equipped and quite comfortable. The driveway is not nearly as bad as I had feared based on other reviews. If you have the chance, check out the Morning Glory cafe in the neighborhood for breakfast, and nearby Pisgah Brewery (which is a little hard to find at night, but well worth the effort). My only word of advice about staying here is to bring flashlights. With or without a dog to walk, it's very dark at night going in and out, so we were glad we had a flashlight in our car. We used it a bunch! There also wasn't much hand soap, so we had to buy some. Not a big problem, but something to be aware of! Thanks Greybeard for such wonderful service, a wonderful cottage and the tasty pumpkin bread. We will be back!

“Very nice place”

This place is very nice. Rental company a pleasure to work with would recommend to anyone wanting to enjoy the mountain experience. Easy to find, close to restaurant and shopping.

“Loved the weather, very relaxing environment, will return”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2011

The house was perfect for a very relaxing week. The driveway presented a challenge but we figured the best way for us to park. When we arrived the house was very clean. We did appreciate the wonderful towels. If I had one negative thing it would be the sofa/chair needs to be updated.

“Nice view and peaceful”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2011

This house was nice, but the driveway was a bit difficult. Do not park in the easier lot next to the house because the neighbor will come over and bark at you. I would recommend this home to a couple or solo traveler with an SUV.
