The rental experience through Greybeard was flawless (other than a wrong door code but that was fixed with a quick phone call). The cabin had everything we needed and the decor was fantastic. The view from the deck was great - you can see Route 9 in the winter when the trees are bare, but you don't hear the traffic unless you're out on the deck and it's not very loud. The location was convenient with asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock all being within a 30 minute drive and the town of Black Mountain even closer.
“A Cozy Cabin Family Stay!”
The remote cabin proved to be a palace by cabin standards with a remote control fireplace, tasteful furnishings, grand vistas from the decks and a paved driveway! About a 40 minute drive to asheville, we enjoyed the Blueridge Parkway, hiking, shopping, and dining when we were out of the cabin, but, for the most part wanted to spend our time together enjoying the cabin. The beds featured wonderful mattresses that made sleeping a dream, literally! All the kitchen was in working order except the manual can opener which proved to be a nightmare for cooking! All the other major appliances were in great working order and the easy check in, check out made the Blue Bear Cabin a destination that we'd like to return to in the future!
“Wonderful spacious cabin!”
We had a great time. The area has many attractions, hiking, shopping, dinning and waterfalls. The cabin has all the items you could want. The layout is perfect. The cabin is in a beautiful setting. Close to town but far enough away to feel secluded.
“fantastic cabin with beautiful scenery”
Working with Renda at Graybeard Rentals was a completly hassle free experience. The cabin was fantastic and the furnishings were everything we needed which helped contribute to an overall outstanding vacation. Being from Illinois (very very flat), we were completely in awe of the asheville/Black Mountain area. Loved Chimmey Rock/Lake Lure and hiking to several waterfalls.
“Very Nice Cabin - Well Equipped”
The cabin was very nice and well equipped with all the amenities we could need, including an extra sweet gift of delicious pumpkin bread left for us. It had a great back porch and view. The owners did a good job in decorating in a "bear" theme with lots of extra touches. It would have been nice not to hear the road traffic, even though we couldn't see the road. But you couldn't hear it when inside.
“Wonderful peaceful stay in the mountains”
Cabin is conveniently located off 9 and not too far off the beaten path. Was wonderfully appointed, clean, awesome views and my fur babies and hubby loved it. Cant wait to come back and would definitely stay at this cabin again.
“Secluded mountain cabin with great view!”
Beautiful mountain home tucked away in Black Mountain. Nestled between Lake Lure and the town of Black Mountain, we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the area. Many evenings and mornings were spent on the covered back deck overlooking the view. Cabin is fully equipped and accommodates 6 easily. Greybeard Rentals is very professional and accommodating - check in/out was so simple.
We had a great time at this cabin. Great location, beautiful views, and everything we needed for a getaway. The straight away cafe and pub was a great place to go.
“Nice cabin, bad policies”
The blue bear cabin was very nice. However, when we arrived the fridge and freezer door had been left open and therefore neither was cold. The whole fridge then wouldn't start back up so we needed to unplug and then it took several hours for the fridge to work again. We had to go to the store and buy ice to keep food cold, which was a pain! Also, the dishwasher was not draining properly, all of the dishes stunk that came out after washing, so we were forced to hand wash all dishes, which was not idea. My biggest complaint is the 10am checkout. Wtf! A bit ridiculous considering check in is at 4pm. I will not rent another cabin from you because of this early checkout. It is in your best interest to push it back until at least 11am, if not 12pm.
Response from the manager We are sorry about the fridge and freezer being open and any issues with the dishwasher. Please know that you can call us at any point during your trip to report any of these issues. FYI - All of these issues have been fixed now. The policy with a 10am check-out time is very typical of vacation rentals. Unlike hotel rooms, it takes quite a bit of time to clean an entire house and get any maintenance items completed with issues like appliances, etc. for same day turn-overs as yours was. All of this info (including max occupancy of our homes, etc.) is located in the lease that you were emailed and had to "Okay" as soon as you made your reservation. We hope this helps explain a bit about the reason for our check-out time. Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback though. Thanks, Greybeard Rentals Staff
“What a great way to start off our 1st annual "All Girls end of w”
The 6 of us usually do our tent camping, kayaking and hiking starting in the spring, but this year we decided to do something a little different. I always wanted to stay in a cabin, but it's usually too expensive. But once I did a little research thanks to Greybeards easy website, I was able to find this awesome pet friendly cabin for the 6 of us that makes spliting up the charges so very affordable!! What a nice cabin. Bring food and toilet paper and paper towels and that is all you will need for a perfect vacation. The cabin was so cutely decorated, great fireplace, great porch, games, magazines and yes tv and wifi, and Very comfy beds. There wasn't a complaint at all.The drive in to the cabin is I think 10 miles so make sure you pick up any little nessesities, like butter. :) If you want a great long weekend of relaxation, reserve this cabin, you definetly will not be sorry. Oh yeah, make sure you stop in at The artisan Gourmet Market & Coffee/Wine Bar on the way to the cabin.
