“Cottage Way Over Yonder - Sept-Oct 2013”
Excellent for family retreats with a feel of privacy but within short distance to necessities. I can't not compliment Renda Barnes enough, agent with Greybeard realty, as she was a huge help throughout my stay. Very Professional and friendly. Kudos!!!
“Nestled in the Woods”
I hate writing this as I really do not want to let the world in on this wonderful secret. The cottage was perfect for us as a family with small children, their parents and a grandmother. There was plenty of room for us with relaxing space and a great kitchen. The Fall was beautiful and we were able to use the deck while children ran in the yard. We could get into asheville easily but created some memorable meals in the kitchen and with the grill. It was a perfect week. Thank you. We needed that.
“Enjoyed The Cottage”
My group arrived for a week in Black Mountain on a Saturday evening. We had some difficulty finding the driveway entrance as the sign we were told to look for is farther up the driveway and not on the road as indicated. We put a balloon on a post at the entrance so we could find it the rest of the week. Also, the letter from the rental agent had two different house numbers. But once you know where it is, it is easy to get to from town. The cottage was exceptionally clean on the surface. The rooms were bright and well lit, especially during the day with all of the windows. The views were spectacular from the deck. The rental office was responsive when we had an issue with the TV, which we used only twice during our stay. Over the week, we found that the kitchen was not as well supplied as we would have liked. We bought, and left behind a shredder/grater and a whisk. Some of the appliances inside the cabinets had not been used in a while and were a tad bit grimy. Perhaps a cleaning there would be in order. The only complaint that we had was about the bedrooms in the basement. There was a musty smell upon arrival. We immediately started the dehumidifier, which then ran non-stop through the week. We also dug out all of the floor and box fans to help move the air down there. That and having the windows opened, made the rooms livable. But the two ladies with asthma were showing signs if respiratory issues by the end of the week. I would think twice about this cottage if any member of your group has breathing difficulties. Everything else was delightful. We had eight in our party and the house accommodated our needs very well. We enjoyed our time in Black Mountain. Everyone found many things to see and do. In fact, some of the things we had planned to do did not get dome because we were having such a fun time doing other things. We would love to come back to the area some day although rising gas prices might keep that from happening.
Response from the manager Thank you so much for your helpful feedback and for leaving the shredder and whisk for the next renter. We will be sure to pass this info on to the owner and housekeepers as well. We do hope you come again. Thanks, Greybeard Rentals Staff
“Home away from home”
We've rented the Cottage Way Over Yonder three times over the past four years. It has been a great home away from home for us...and our pooches who love sitting on the deck or front porch (as do we). Our adult children come for the weekends and it is a welcoming place for them.
“Our best vacation”
A perfect place for our family of 9 - with room for guests to visit. Spacious kitchen for cooking and large deck for grilling and eating. A kitchen pantry made food storage convenient. Nice view. Plenty of bathrooms. Bedrooms spaced out through the house to give some privacy. Qaintly furnished. Close to Black Mountain. A little hard to find the first time. Plenty of parking on the lot. The basement was a little musty.
“Great house, great location, great time!”
The house was everything we thought it would be and more. It's not on a mountain top, but convienience of being near downtown Black Mountain was wonderful and the Cottage was very comfortable and a bargain for being able to sleep all 7 of us. Had a great family get together and no issues with parking and a great yard layout for outdoor activities. We'll be back.
“Made the experience in Black Mountain complete and excellent.”
Arrival, check-in and check-out was excellent, as was the cottage. There is no down-side to the cottage, as it is a complete and very comfortable package.
“We had a relexing reunion”
We enjoyed being able to spent so much time outside at a place that was excluded from the world. The house at big areas like dinning, Kitchen, and living areas that our group could be in together to talk and catch up. We would suggest that you open the basement up a bit more so it is not so musky in that part of the house
“Cottage was adorable and met all our needs!!!”
I would definitely stay here again. I loved the cottage and the location. In fact, I told my husband that I would love to build a house just like it.
“Lots of Snow!!!”
The house was great, but because of the snow storm we lost power and had to leave after our second night. Greybeard was very gracious and refunded one night's stay. The house is great, but it would have been greater with heat!!!
