“Decent House right on the Canal near the entrance to Asseteague”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2016

As far as the Island goes, I would rate this house acceptable for the price. There are nicer places to stay but this house is serviceable. The kitchen is updated and decently equipped but small. The bedrooms are small. The overall décor is dated but clean. The one bathroom is old, has only a shower, and the washer/dryer is in there too. The living room has a big sectional with some odd kitchen chairs scattered around. Dining table seats 6. Big fireplace if you are there in the winter The Internet and TV worked good. There are NO amenities as far as bikes, crab supplies, boats, or anything more than a few books and some VCR tapes. Large deck with furniture/umbrella but too many mosquitos to really enjoy it though. The BIG plus - this house is right on the canal/marsh with water access. If you have a boat, it would be a great spot to tie up although there is no ramp. The view is great, lots of birds in the Marsh. Crabbing is not too bad off the yard/pier. The second plus is the location near the entrance to Asseteague. You really can't get too much closer to the entrance. All in all, I would stay here again if I could not find something a bit nicer but basically you get what you pay for. I would not stay with more than six people here as the place is small. If you are primarily beaching it, this side of the Island is where you want to be.
