“Serinity now... Ahhh :)”

Reviewed 27 Mar 2014

Nestled near the top of the Rangeley Overlook, this place was a home away from home with supreme privacy and an excellent view. Morton & Furbish were a pleasure to work with and as excited about our stay as we were. Love, Love, Love the area and this place was fantastic!

“Comfortable winter stay”

Reviewed 23 Jan 2014

We appreciate the well-maintained Matley house for our family ski vacation. This was the second time we stayed there, and we found it very convenient on both occasions. We are very happy to have a place which will allow our dog, and the house is close enough to Saddleback that we can come home for lunch. Being able to pull the car into a garage attached to the house for loading our gear is especially welcome on frigid days. The house is very comfortable with all the amenities of home, a well equipped kitchen, and everything has always been in good repair. The view is astounding, and I like the open feel of the interior. As a single family unit the space works for us, but multiple families might find the one bathroom a limitation.

“Very good experience - great place to enjoy time with a couple f”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2013

The house is extremely cheerful and comfortable and everything worked well. The modern amenities and the spacious modern design make life really easy and upbeat. We liked the privacy and quiet and the forest surroundings. Good, easy to use kitchen. The view of the lake is only from the upper level, but there are so many views all around the Rangeley area that that didn't matter that much. The one downside is that there isn't light enough in any of the rooms to read comfortably. This matters a lot at night if reading is your thing, and also by day since we had a lot of rain and spent more time indoors than we had expected. Also, the bedrooms are dark generally, which makes it harder to find things, get dressed, undressed, pack, unpack, etc. The rental agent was terrific.

“Location to snowmobile trails were convenient.”

Reviewed 21 Feb 2013

Excellent communications from the rental agency. Directions to the house are a bit unclear if you are from out of town. Upon our arrival the driveway was clear but during our stay there was a snowstorm and 4x4 Suv's were unable to make it fully up the driveway. The downstairs entry was a great place to dress/undress for outdoor weather while the heat from the oil furnace provided a way to dry gear. Having a garage was a bonus for working on sleds. The home was a beautiful post and beam which boasted lots of windows. The footprint was smaller than what appeared in pictures. Open concept helped the space feel larger but it would have helped if square footage was listed. A breakfast bar provided additional seating. A dishwasher reduced cleaning time. Kitchen cabinets were full and purchased groceries had to be stored on the counter tops. Teflon pans need to be replaced due to peeling. A dining room table with seating for 6 was an excellent way to spend time over a meal discussing the day's adventures. There were also some bird feeders in the windows which offered some natural entertainment. The living room was tastefully furnished with 3-seat leather, reclining sofa and a reclining swivel chair, but seating was limited to 4 guests. Beautiful thick area carpet added comfort to those that sat on the floor. Extra quilts were available to protect furniture if pets were present. Views of Rangeley Lake were impressive and the large deck would have been a great place to sit and enjoy. (We were unable to use the deck due to 2+ft of snow on it). All beds were very comfortable with homey quilts. Heating was inconsistent; master bedroom was cold and the loft was extremely hot (especially when the wood stove was in operation). Bathroom was bright and clean the bathtub was a bit short but was deeper than an average. Having a washer and dryer was very convenient. Overall it is a nice place to stay, clean and comfortable with spectacular views.

“Relaxing getaway!!”

Reviewed 28 Nov 2012

We loved our stay at the Matley house. It was off the beaten path and somewhat secluded. The interior of the house was nice and the beds were comfy. We cooked our Thanksgiving dinner here and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. We loved the wood stove which made it feel cozy. The view from the upstairs loft was great and the when leaving the house the view going towards Rangeley Lake was spectacular. We also loved that it was pet friendly. Our English Springer Spaniel loved laying by the fire. We also enjoy the wildlife Rangley has and had 17 wild Turkey outside of our window. We go to Rangeley every Thanksgiving and would definetley stay there again.

“Quality accommodations = quality vacation!!”

Sometimes when you see pictures of a place online, you wonder if it really looks like that up close...well, the Matley rental property totally lived up to my expectations! We were very impressed with the house, it was roomy, warm and friendly! It had a rustic feel, but with all the "extras" - wifi, tv, dvd, beautiful kitchen, dishwasher, washer/dryer. The daily visits from the hummingbirds were an unexpected benefit! The location was perfect for us - just a half mile from a decent hike on part of the appalachian Trail; swimming in Coos Canyon was less than 45 mins. away; ATV rentals right down the street. One of the local people we met even gave us directions to an area where we saw a couple moose!! Would gladly rent this property again and again!!

“Comfortable and relaxing”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2012

The house was wonderful. The scenary was beautiful. Very comfortable beds. The only thing that I didn't like was the check-out time. I think 10:00 is a little early. I think 11:00 would have been a little better.

“Great Cabin!!!”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2012

Had a wonderful stay despite the weather...No snow!!! The cabin was very clean and had a wonderful view and was very comfortable. Morton and Furbish are top notch and made the rental very easy.

“Rangeley Reunion 2011”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2011

My family met in Rangeley for a reunion, comming from North Carolina, Michigan, Arizona and Whistler Canada. All were very pleased with the area and the week was as good as it gets. The other property rented was the ark on Gull Pond. Another fine location! Properties well kept and memories made more positive because of it. Thanks

“Can't wait to go back”
