“Memorable, relaxing, family centered week at the beach.”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2013

The Blue anchor was perfect for our family. Loved the layout of the house, the large screened front porch, the deck and yard. The kitchen was well provided with dishes, glasses and cooking utensils and we took advantage of the gas ring on the grill to do a seafood boil. Large dining area was center for all our family meals on the closed in porch behind kitchen. Short block walk to the beach made it easy to return for lunch or potty breaks for grand kids.

Response from the manager Thank you for the comments about Blue Anchor! It's great that you enjoyed the large deck and grill. Our mouth waters just thinking about your seafood boil...

“another enjoyable winter walking the beach, playing golf, and en”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2013

This year, colder than most winters, challenged the warming capabilities of Blue anchor. Michiganders don't run from a little cold weather, though, so we made do and still enjoyed the natural areas, the park, golf courses, and an extra blanket. We'd like to sign a lease for 2014. Jacque Mosley has usually provided such a document prior to our departure, but we're still waiting to hear from her.

Response from the manager Mr. McDonald thank you for staying at The Blue Anchor again this year. Jacque will be following up with you today to sign up for next year. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

“Great rental company with wondeful service and rentals.”

Nlb is a great place to stay. Great sand on beach for walking or bike riding with nice flat beach that works well for small kids. Usually enough waves for boggie boarding. ther than directly onthe beach shady areas for walking and jogging and not being subject to sun all day long. Major feature is that there are a number of wondeful places to eat if you go south from Nlb--perrones and Chive B. Cafe just off 17 on the North Causeway to name two. Starting comingher einthe 1970s took some years away and been coming back for a decade and it keeps getting better

Response from the manager Dear Mr. Wetzel: Thank you for your nice review of Blue Anchor and our beaches and area. We are glad you enjoyed your stay again and look forward to seeing you next year or sooner! We will pass your kind words on to the owner as well. Thanks again! The Dieter Company

“A great Beach house for people and dogs!!! The setters loved it”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2012

We had quite a mix...2 dogs, 3 boys 7,8 & 11, 2 45 yr old Moms and 2 Grandma. Loved everything but the stove top!!! Needs to be replaced. The house was great and close to the beach. Everyone loved it.

“Perfect getaway place”

Reviewed 19 Jun 2012

Blue anchor offers a beautiful and classic beach house mixed with a private and wooded back yard (see deer too! & ticks, unfortunately). Things are a bit rugged outside which we liked. Inside was cool and bright. The ocean and beach were just a short walk away at end of the street. We met the most amazing people who live and work locally and truly appreciate the kindness and courtesy. Go to surf the earth for a soulful outdoor experience including kayak tours, they'll bring the surfin' to you. Check out Harrelson's seafood at Murrels Inlet - amazing creek rolls and best oysters! Sticky fingers ribs at Myrtle rock! Huntington park a nice activity. Roz's Cafe at hammock shops = Delicous! Marvin at hammock making demo is a great guy and shows the heart of the area - thanks Marvin! House conveniences of laundry room, enclosed sunroom/dining table plus den off back plus screened porch up front were highly appreciated and enjoyed! A few items need tweaked: stove knobs are worn and hard to read but was fun to use a cook top. Twin bed mattresses are a bit worn and soft. Hammock needs replaced as rope is rotted and unsafe. (Luckily we brought our own portable one and could enjoy the back deck area). Lots of Tv's so folks can have "separate spaces" to chill was very handy for mix of ages in our group! Stair climbing required and good exercise :-) Thanks for offering the Blue anchor - it was absolutely perfect for our group.

Response from the manager Dear Mr. & Mrs. Hall: Thank you for your positive review of Blue Anchor. We have forwarded your comments to the owner. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again soon at the beach! The Dieter Company

“The perfect location for a getaway!”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2011

Blue anchor haunts by dreams- in a good way. I've experienced the two most idylic beach vacations here of my life, and I've had a lot of beach vacations! The house itself is exactly what a beach house should be: comforatable and well-stocked with a great balance of private and public hang out space and plenty of outdoor seating options. Rocking chairs on the screen porch-check. Large back deck with grill, picnic table, and hammock- check. Fabulous outdoor shower overlooking a nature preserve- check! Not to mention ceiling fans in every room and air conditioning for those that are so inclined. This beach house is also in a great location- very close to the beach, grocery shopping, and a beautiful private garden. Blue anchor is an easy two block walk down a quiet residential street (close enough for a a handful of mid-day refreshement runs) takes you to a public entry point. The beach is uncrowded and clean; more days than not we saw dolphins in the distance! We went on grocery runs almost every day, so were thankful that the store was a 3 minute drive. Both times I've been to Blue anchor was with a group of friends, 4 couples in all. It's well suited to large groups- plenty of space, plenty of cutlery, etc., and plenty of parking. We all agree that it's the best and look forward to the trip every year. I can't wait for our Summer 2011 visit!

“We love the Blue anchor!”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2011

This is our second vacation down to the Blue anchor and now I feel that we have found our vacation spot. The house is relaxing and from the moment we arrive feel like we can kick back and enjoy ourselves. A huge plus is being able to bring our dogs. They seem to love it there as much as we do. We love the fact that it is an older home and not a huge over-sized mega-mansion. The home also backs up to a protected park and makes it very private while eating dinner outside. The neighborhood is pleasant and is easy to navigate. Getting to the beach is fast and once on the beach a short walk and you can have a very secluded spot, thanks to the park. The bedrooms are comfortable and pleasant & the bathrooms are nice and big. The kitchen is well equipped and can accommodate plenty of food and storage. Even with 8 adults we feel like there is plenty of space for everyone. We really love the Blue anchor and can't wait to go back this year.

“Litchfield Beach is the best vacation spot for our family!”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2010

We love Litchfield and up at the end close to Huntingdon Park, it is especially nice as there are few people to contend with on the beach. Overall the house is nice. It was not as clean this year as last...there were previous dog hairs on the furniture and around the legs of furniture. The one bathroom was not cleaned very well prior to our arrival. Towels from the previous tenants sat bagged on the porch until Wednesday when I finally called the office to tell them they were there. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs. Beds were comfortable. Air conditioning worked well. This is our second year in the house and we continue to rent there since we are able to take our little dog with us on vacation.

Response from the manager We are glad that your family had another enjoyable stay at Blue Anchor. The great location that backs up to Huntington Beach State Park and the ability to bring a pet help make this a very popular beach house. Because of feedback like yours, we have replaced the housekeeping service for all future cleaning in this home. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

“Blue Anchor Winter '10 Review”

Reviewed 19 Apr 2010

We enjoyed 10 weeks during Feb - early April at the Blue Anchor. As winter abates and spring arrives, the overall comfort level of warmth improves, and we acclimate to cool mornings and comfortable afternoons. Blue Anchor provides all the needed comforts for us and our Westie, and we all enjoy the quiet privacy offered by the adjacent Huntington Beach State Park. Beach walks, bike rides, and nearby restaurants add to the variety of daily activity, but our home base needs to be comfortable, warm to guests, and fully equipped. We are quite satisfied.
