It was spacious, nice and convenient to the beach and the town of Duck. It was my grandchildren's first visit to the beach. The Sea Turtle was a perfect fit for Grandma, Great Grandma, Mom, & Aunt plus 3 children 9,7, & 4. The kids would say the pool was their favorite, plus we could all sit on the sectional sofa together and at the table for meals at the same time. We all loved the swing on the 2nd floor deck. Of course everyone like walking and playing on the beach and collecting shells.
“Poor cleanliness and unresponsive help”
The house was a good value off-season. Unfortunately, the dryer was broken for the majority of our trip. It took many phone calls and as many days to get the situation repaired. Not what you want when you have beach towels and swimsuits lying around everywhere. The cleaning service did not take care of many of the cobwebs and bugs prior to our arrival.
“Relaxing & inviting...”
One of the best vacations we have had. The house was incredible it worked well for each family in our group. The pool was definitely a must and we used it on a daily basis - plenty of pool toys/floats. The rooms were generously sized and the great room was just that. It never seemed crowded or rushed. Plenty of things to do - close enough to town to walk. Excellent location to the beach.
“Outer Bank 2011”
Outer Banks Blue did a great job. The no check in approach was very nice to be able to go straight to your house after a long trip. The house did not offer alot of extras (toys floats for the pool, chairs etc.) as other houses do.
“Loved it. Great house/location”
The house was one block from beach, had a great deck and view. Warm and homey feeling.
“heaven on earth”
this was our second stay at the sea turtle. we absolutely love it and the weather was phenomenal which always helps. when we noticed the blender container was missing, we called outer blue and within less than 2 hours a new blender was delivered. this impressed and pleased us. What needs to be done is the living room tv should be a modern flat screen hi def television. the one in the living room is a dinosaur by todays standards.
We had a great time in Duck staying at the Sea Turtle. It was the farthest we have stayed from the "main drag", but it was also much closer to the FoodLion which was helpful. The house was clean overall, but was certainly showing some age with the applicances and pool pump. However, it fit our needs perfectly! The walk to the beach was only about 5 minutes at the most, and only b/c we were carrying all of our beach gear.
“Sea Turtle Review”
The house was nice but there were a few disappointments - we were very unhappy to find there was no internet in this house as we have booked several homes through Outer Banks Blue and they have always had wireless. The TV in the living room often came in very fuzzy, the "screened in porch" on the second floor was not screened in as one of the screens was completely ripped and hanging from its base. Also, the outside furniture was VERY dirty on the second floor. The windows on the second floor leading to the decks were so dirty you could see where people had "written" on them with their fingers through the mess. The pool area was nice and it was nice to be so close to the beach but I have to say out of the homes we have stayed in this was my least favorite and we all found ourselves frustrated at different things as the week went on.
“Needs some TLC”
I have been vacationing in the Duck since 1989. In the past we have stayed at Georgetown Sands and Don't Worry Be Happy in Sea Hawk. We were somewhat disappointed in Sea Turtle. Even though the house slept 12, there was not enough seating in the Great Room for more than 6 people. The kitchen was not well-equipped. The sink was leaking and the water dripped into a strategically-placed dog bowl inside the cabinet. One of the burners on the stove did not work. The light bulbs in the lamps were burned out, so we had to rely on the overhead light. The bedspreads were filthy, and I am not sure the sheets in the master bedroom were washed before our arrival. On a positive note, the pool was nice and the outside shower was very convenient. The house was a short walk from the beach making it an excellent location. The "keyless" entry was great, and we found the reservation process with Outer Banks Blue to be very easy, and the staff who we dealt with to be very helpful.
“Three families...one home...Tons of fun!”
We had a week of 90 degrees and sun. Not a drop of rain! The beach was a short walk down the block. Town was a short mile...great shoppes. I loves Outer Barks (for dog lovers). The house was nice with bath towels and bedding provided. The pool was great. The only disappointment was the kitchen. I love to cook and specifically asked for a well equipped kitchen with food processor (I could have brought my own). When we complain to Outer Banks Blue they showed up at the door with a brand new food processor. The kitchen still lacked the large bowls and platters necessary to feed a large crowd but we made do and I guess most people don't go to the beach to cook. I give Outer Banks Blue kudos for customer service for bringing the FP! The boys like the neighborhood setting and played basketball with the kids on the block. Close enough to the beach run back to the bathroom or for lunch. Nice decks. But don't expect much of an "ocean view" It does peek out over the houses and trees but you don't sit on the deck and enjoy the view of the ocean. I did not like that the room with bunk beds for the kids had sliding glass doors that lead to the back of the house where the gate for the pool was. I don't think that is a good room for smaller children. But I am paranoid about small children and pools. Enough said, Beautiful house. Dorothy
