“Fantastic family vacation”

Reviewed 6 Feb 2014

The cabin was very clean with new flooring, new bedding, and new towels. We had 6 adults and 4 young kids and we had plenty of beds and room to move around. With all of us in the cabin we didn't feel like we were on top of each other. The woodstove was nice and toasty after long days of skiing. We normally ski out west but decided to try powderhorn this year. We were pleasantly surprised! The kids (ages 5 to 9) thoroughly enjoyed the hill and didn't become bored. The non skiers enjoyed the snowshoe/cross country trails. The shuttle was also extremely nice for our large group and in case someone wanted to stop skiing early. Service was impeccable and super friendly!! Overall, we would rate the ski trip a 5 out of 5.

Response from the manager Thank you for a wonderful review! We are so glad you chose to spend your ski trip this year with us! We hope you stay with us again in the future and create some more of those great family memories!

“Bear summit is perfect for 4 couples..”

Reviewed 1 Feb 2014

We really enjoyed our stay. The bedrooms were really comfortable. It did take awhile to get the woodburing stove to get started. We did have lots of wood to burn. Our location was perfect for the snowshoe people in our group. !

“Lots of room!”

Reviewed 14 Mar 2013

We've stayed in several different Bpla accomodations. This one is not luxury by any means, but, it had everything we needed and a lot of stuff we wanted. There is plenty of room for a lot of people and lots of comfy beds to sleep in.

“Good”

Place was nice, not laid out the best for coming in out of the snow. Clean

“Just what we were looking for”

Reviewed 31 Jan 2013

The accomodations were what we needed. The only minor issue we had was that the wood for the fireplace must have been damp inside and there was not enough kindling so that we could not start and keep a fire going.

“Great Guys Ski Weekend Place”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2013

We had 8 guys on our weekend and so needed 8 beds. While the unit had only 7, there was plenty of room for an air mattress on the floor of one of the bedrooms. It was not the fanciest of units but it was perfect for us. The unit had lots of space for people to sit to watch TV and to eat. By shifting the large table, we were able to seat all 8 together for meals. The WiFi service was excellent as well as the selection of TV channels. The only downside for a group as large as ours was having only two bathrooms though it wasn't a big problem. It is a ways away from the ski base but the shuttle service is fantastic, it showed up only 5 minutes or so after I called and went right to the chalet. Diane did a fantastic job of helping set up the reservation and she even was there to check us in. She went the extra mile to help find a suitable unit and make us feel welcome.

“place to rest your heads”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2012

not really a 5 BR - the fifth BR is really the landing area for the second floor in between three other decent ones. For some reason, the owner or the lodging association decided to build a deck on the back while we were there so we had an entire day of hammering and sawing and general loudness on a rainy day when we were stuck at the house. There is a locked up area downstairs, inaccessible to the renters and several of the guests wrote some creepy things about it in the book, so we spent a few hours wondering what or who is down there. It is really a 2-and-a half star location, but not really a 3. We stayed in august, but I could see it as 3 stars if you just want to party and do some skiing over the winter. Not the greatest family vacation spot, but we love the area. There was a lot of construction debris all over the property, which was pretty much a mess. I do not think we would stay there again.

Response from the manager First, thanks for staying with Big Powderhorn Lodging Association. We value all of our guests and we regret that your experience was not what you expected. Our crew felt it had your permission to work on the deck as long as it wasn’t too early in the day and when they showed up the second day left immediately when you objected. Our unit owners sometimes choose to lock off certain areas for their private use or storage. That is the case at Bear Summit. On your next stay with us one of our Vacation Planners will guide you to a unit that my better suit your needs in terms of size and location. We have 100 units to choose from. “Pleasantly surprised with this "Economy" rental.”

Reviewed 16 Feb 2012

This cabin was very cozy. We came up skiing on the coldest weekend of the year, and were very comfortable in this cabin. Plenty of sleeping room. Neat and clean. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, considering it was in the "economy" category. Our group of 7 stayed during our ski trip and we had a great time. I'd definitely come back! Water pressure isn't the best, but nothing that would deter us from returning.

“great”

This cabin was very nice, clean, and comfortable!!! We had a great time in the area and we cannot express how happy we were with our stay

“unit was not clean”

Reviewed 2 Feb 2011

We have stayed in two other units w/ Bpla. This one was the least clean. There were mice droppings in the baking pans. The coffee pot had old grounds in it there. It was over-all rather worn.
