“Disappointed, but we made the most of it.”

Reviewed 23 Jan 2013

We were actually supposed to rent a cabin, Looky Yonder, that was further out of town. However, we were contacted just a few days before hand and notified that a tree had fallen on it, causing damage. American Patriot Getaways told us they had one other cabin available that was comparable to our original booking. I realized Christmas time is a busy season, but they only had one cabin to choose from, Alpine Romance. We didn't really have a choice, but to take this cabin. They claimed it was larger than our original booking, but we drove to the other cabin and from what we could see through the windows, Looky Yonder was the larger cabin most definitely. Alpine Romance would have been perfect for us had we not had our two children, but the bedrooms were right beside each other, leaving very little privacy. The master bath was very nice and the overall cabin was nice, just small. They claimed the kitchen was well supplied, but I guess I used different dishes and utensils than most because I got very aggrevated while cooking and learned to improvise quiet well. The water stunk almost our entire stay because of the rain. They had a note on the refrigerator about the smell of the water when it rained. Very strong sulphur smell. Our original cabin was listed as secluded/private. Alpine Romance is semi-secluded/private. I was also very disappointed that neither cabin was decorated for Christmas. We brought a small tree from home. I am glad we decided against the large tree. There would not have been any room for it at alpine Romance, unless we put it upstairs. My eleven year old loved the pool table and upstairs loft area. We enjoyed some family time up there also, where I lost every game of pool. Again, if it had just been my husband and myself, it would have been okay, but not suggested for a family.

“A great family getaway with a awesome mtn view!”

We really enjoyed the cabin. The kitchen had everything we need. We cooked most of our meals there at the cabin. We did have to buy water if we needed to boil anything. The bedrooms were perfect and with our 5 year going with us having the rooms right next to each other was perfect. The game room area was very spacious which was a plus. The hot tub area was nice. Very relaxing. The only complaints were that the main entrance didn't have any blinds and most of the security outside lights were blown. Other then we loved the cabin!

“Stuck in traffic”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2011

Do not come to the Pigeon Forge area during a car show, unless that is your reason for coming. Traffic was terrible, 3 hours from Gatlingburyg to alpine Romance. Alpine Romance is quaint, quiet, and very out of the way. It took two days to get a micro wave replaced that was broke when we arrived. Make sure you collect all of your belongs, before leaving. My nephew left a CD and personal CD player behind. I contacted the staff after arriving back home. They were nice but it took a week to get the CD back for a fortune, while the Personal CD player was never recovered. Staff could not find it. My experience was not great, but I can not hold that against this charming place. Better Luck to others who may explore this beautiful home.
