“This was an incredible mountain cabin!”

Reviewed 14 Feb 2014

Due to frozen pipes with a cabin we had booked earlier, Patriot allowed us to chose this cabin, at the last minute, for our 4 nights stay in January. We have stayed with Patriot 10 or 12 times before and Patriot has always been great to work with; good communications, listens to our concerns, gives us time to consider our options, goes above and beyond to be of help. The Original american Dream was a beauty inside and out. The view was unbelievable. Having a full size washer and dryer was nice and the beds very comfortable. The heating system worked great and we so enjoyed the double fireplace. The walk in closet upstairs was awesome and the downstairs bedroom even had a nice little closet. It showed that at one time, this cabin was someone's beloved home. The roads to and from the cabin were well paved, but quite steep and curvy; that was an adventure! Onto the negatives: the cleanliness here was not quite up to the Patriot standards were have grown to expect and the pool table was rickety and had no chalk. During a hard, windy storm on our first night, rain came in around the fireplace and ran down the left side of the 40 foot windows in the living room. We used pots and pans to catch what we could, then moped up with towels and blanket throws, which we then washed and dried. Looking at the wood in the leaking areas, it appreared this was not the first time for leaks. It would be a real shame for such beautiful wood walls and ceilings to be really damaged. We enjoyed our time at The Original american Dream, but would probably not stay again due to the steep roads.

“Big Wonderland”

Reviewed 12 Dec 2013

The view from the cabin was beautiful. The big surprise was the snow, and lots of it. We had a difficult time getting to the cabin, scenery was great! The motion light that was on the porch saved us that night. The cabin was very clean, and ready for us when we finally got to the top. We were hoping to have more blankets and pillows. One of the pillow case in the downstairs bedroom was soiled. We were unable to pull the sofa out upstairs to make out to a full bed, because of a problem that would not allow it to pull out. The cabin is furnished with beautiful leather sofa and chair in the living room. The mattress needs to be possibly replaced in both bedroom's. I would recommend talking a couple of your favorite pots for cooking. All in all the cabin is very well made, and the bathroom's was the best of all!!

“We loved The Original american Dream!”

What a place to relax and spend time with your family! Cabin is beautiful and the views are amazing. Everything was just right. Our only complaint is the road getting there! It is steep and curvier than we expected. Make sure you arrive during the day light. It's much easier to find! If you want privacy, peace, and quiet...this is your place!

Response from the manager Thank you so much for your testimony and the photos you attached! We're glad you enjoyed your stay! Best Regards, American Patriot Getaways

“Wonderful, relaxing, terrific views, Beautiful Cabin!”

Reviewed 2 Dec 2013

The view of the smoky mountains is breathtakingly beautiful from this cabin. This cabin has everything you could ask for if you want a slow paced relaxing getaway vacation. Location makes it easy to get to Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge very easily. Cabin was very clean, great decor, big well equipped kitchen, Gas fireplace, comfortable bedding, hot tub on the deck with a smoky mountain view. Even has a regular evening critter visitor to greet you. We named him rocky raccoon, and he visited us every night about 9pm. What more could you ask for in a mountain cabin vacation.

“Totally amazing!!!”

Reviewed 7 Dec 2012

Our stay in this cabin was just perfect in every way possible. We were looking for a cabin that was private, had an excellent view and with all the amenities of home. And we certainly got it with this cabin! We could not have been more pleased and definitely will be coming back. The location was very convenient also to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, which was a big plus too. I would highly recommend this cabin to future vacationers!!!

“First Experience”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2012

This was our first experience in staying at a cabin retreat. We were impressed with the Cabin. The Decor was wonderful, the Cabin was neat and clean. And the pictures on your website truly represented the Cabin. Will be back.

“Scary drive up”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2012

Great cabin.. wonderfully decorated. The drive up there was very very steep. I was afraid we wouldn't make it. So unless you are a strong courageous driver, I'd pick a cabin closer to the ground.

“Gorgeous cabin!!!”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2012

We had a fabulous stay in this exceptional cabin!!! It is as gorgeous as the pictures show! The view is amazing!!! The ride up is steep! Make sure your vehicle can handle it. Beautiful kitchen...if you want to cook make sure you bring basics..salt, pepper, seasonings, oil etc. the pots & pans are a nice complete set. Lots of towels, beautiful bathrooms! The location is ideal & the view off of that gorgeous deck is breathtaking! Looking down on the night lights of pigeon forge is mesmerizing! I hope to stay again next year!

“Awesome views from an awesome cabin!”

Reviewed 30 May 2012

Overall we were very happy about our stay at "The Original american Dream". Attention to detail was paid in every area. Inside the cabin is very roomy and open, and all the windows are designed to let in the wonderful view. A few answers for questions I had Can you get Espn, fox,CBS, ect. on the television (we love football)? Yes we didn't miss a football game. Verizon 3G worked well throughout the cabin with 3-5 bars of service. Can you see the sunset from the hot tub? In January not so much, but later in the year the sunset is the focal point for the wonderful view. How private is the cabin? There are several cabins nearby, but even in January with all of the leaves off the trees we had no issues with privacy. There is definitely more privacy here than in many resort cabins communities. Other reviews referenced steep drives and trash. The grounds around our cabin were very clean, and the drive is somewhat steep, but not as steep as other cabins we've rented. Are there additional video inputs for the television (for game consoles/cameras/etc)? Yes. The large television downstairs had all the standard RCa audio/video inputs we needed. Are there any games in the cabin? Yes we found dominoes, Jenga, cards, dice, and of course the pool table upstairs. Do Gps's really not work in the mountains as the disclaimer says because I've got a really good one. I used both an older GPS and my smartphone, both worked to a degree but I was glad to have the printed directions and maps in hand our first time to the cabin. We almost got lost listening to the GPS.
