“Beautiful stay for a reasonable price!”
This was our second stay at the Cottage Over Yonder and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit this year. The 2 story lay out was perfect when we had family visit from Florida. We loved the location and proximity to Montreat College, where our daughter attends, and Black Mountain. The price was more than reasonable for our month long stay. We would recommend this property.
“Great experience all around!!!”
Greybeard Rentals is a great place to rent from! Renda was so nice and helpful, and we loved the pumpkin bread! The cottage was a dream. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and clean. We had everything we needed from pots and pans to a washer and dryer. The surrounding area was green and full of natural beauty. Thanks for a wonderful week of respite and relaxation!!
I stayed alone as a single woman for the month of May and have never had a vacation so relaxing and comfortable. It was cold and rainy the first week I was there, and I wrapped up in quilts and comfortors, raised the windows, and threw open the shutters to hear and smell the forest and the rain and feel the mountain breezes. There is a large lower level, but I used only the upper level which was the perfect size for me and with the windows and shutters open gives the feel of a grownup size treehouse. Cottage Over Yonder is quaint, a little old fashioned, and felt like home. The home is not fancy and the price is very affordable. I slept in the little tiny closet room a couple nights just to say I did! For those of you who need TV, cable, and internet, you will be satisfied. For those of you who don't like bugs, please remember you are in the forest and these are common and will enter with you when you open doors. there are three tv's with cable and internet connection. In one month I turned on the TV once and used the internet connection to connect my smart phone. Would like to come back for a three month stay. Thanks to the owner and staff of Greybeard for the opportunity to stay.
“Peace and quiet”
Cottage Over Yonder is spacious and secluded, surrounded by huge, beautiful trees and located only about three miles from Black Mountain. It is an old cottage which explains why the floors are mostly slanting and many of the windows were stuck shut. The furniture is old but fairly clean. The day after we arrived, we notified Greybeard that several furniture items were in need of repair and that we needed to be able to open the windows in order to enjoy the mountain air. Their repair person was there the next day and fixed everything to our satisfaction. Kitchen and bathrooms were clean; carpet needed cleaning. Refrigerator is old; ice maker does not work; there is no dishwasher. If you are looking for modern luxury, this is not for you. If you want wooded seclusion and quiet, at a good price, this might be it. We had reserved the cottage of one month and extended our stay by a week, but next year we will probably look for something a bit more up-to-date.
Response from the manager Thank you for your honest helpful feedback. This info is helpful for us, the owners, and upcoming renters alike. We do look forward to having you stay with Greybeard again!
“woodsy seclusion yet close in to Black Mountain”
We booked for 4 nights and stayed a 5th. It was a good feeling to come "home" to this quiet place each day from our outings as tourists. If it weren't for that one barking dog, at all hours, a little ways off it would've been totally tranquil. Home was well stocked, clean and comfortable. We mostly used open windows rather than a/c and did very well. Other than the windows jamming to open and close, the window sills being kind of gross, and the porch needing some extra attention in regards to cleaning it was perfect. Thanks, Greybeard, I'd definitely use this svc. again if in the area.
Response from the manager Thank you so much for your feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve and will definitely pay some extra attention to window sills and porches. We look forward to having you back. Thanks, Greybeard Staff
It was very nice and relaxing. The location was nice for being near town.
