We cannot even describe how amazing our stay was at Ravenscroft. The location was perfect; the cabin was immaculate; it was as if they knew exactly how we would design and decorate our cabin and had it done just for our visit. My girlfriend and I fell in love with this place. We fell in love with the town and the people. We can't wait to come back and stay longer. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to get away and explore the beauty of Western North Carolina. Thank you! Cheers!
“Wonderfully Unique Mountain House... Will absolutely stay again!”
First of all Greybeard Realty was wonderful. The house I originally called about was not available so they suggested this one which had a special discounted winter price at the time. I called at noon, we picked up the keys at 5pm and the house was clean with pumpkin bread waiting on the counter when we arrived. The owners of Ravenscroft have taken the time to think of every little detail. The decor stays true to the craftsman style with an artistic flare. This house is like a mini-folk art gallery which you see immediately walking in the door with the large painting by the famous artist Cornbread. Throughout the house there is more of his work along with work by Kent ambler and a few other local folk artists. From the Carrara marble in the kitchen to the bead-board on the ceilings the house is charming but not overdone. The beds are very comfortable with plenty of extra bedding, blankets & pillows. You even have two robes hanging in each bedroom closet. The bathrooms are not large but fine for two people and the lighting is very good. There are balconies off of the living room and off of the upstairs bedroom that offers decent views but are still partly private thanks to a couple of trees. There is also a patio off the downstairs bedroom. One detail I loved was the books that are literally all over the house just like the artwork. There is a ton of reading on the local mountain area and blue ridge in general. As well as some good novels and even the works of Edgar allen Poe (where better to read the The Raven than at Ravenscroft)? If you're not a reader there is a DVD player w a few Dvd's & an up-to-date Hdtv w cable. The house is actually in a little village called Cheshire Village and is surrounded by beautiful grounds, walking trails and even a running brook. The only reason I didn't rate this house 'excellent' was the living room furniture is not very comfortable & the parking is tad challenging. Also there are a lot of stairs so keep that in mind.
Response from the manager We're so glad you had a good experience at Ravenscroft! It's a great house. We will pass along the feedback about the parking and furniture. Thanks again!
“Ravenscroft is a charmer”
Ravenscroft is a charming cottage with all the comforts of home plus a warm and welcoming decor...lots of books and interesting magazines added to the experience and made us want to stay longer. Great restaurants in the area too. Kim Cool
“Relaxing and Pleasant Get away”
The owner's of Ravenscroft did an exceptional job in decorating and furnishing this property. I have stayed at Ravenscroft a few times, but this was the first time my husband stayed at this property. He was very impressed. It is definitely my favorite unit in Cheshire.
“Wonderful views and outdoor seating areas.”
This house has the most peaceful, wonderful views and excellent options to sit outdoors, including the top floor balcony. There are only a couple of areas that make it not quite perfect (but still wonderful): lighting is poor if you need to actually see any detail. Pretty from a decorating standpoint, not so good from a functional standpoint. Also, the basement bedroom was really quite cold until we turned heat way up on the main level, and there was no way to get it warm otherwise. Finally, it would get too warm and have to be adjusted again. (We were there in april.) This house has quite a lot of stairs, so it's not for the mobility challenged. It is a great place for a quiet retreat and just lovely overall.
Picture Perfect and in an awesome neighborhood! This charming cabin has 3 levels with 2 Master suites on 2 different levels, one on the top & one on the lower level. It has decks with beautiful views on the 2nd & 3rd level and a patio on the lower level also with a beautiful view!!! It's charming and very cozy! The only down side, you only have room for one car to park at the cabin.
“An experience in relaxation.”
Loved the house and walking to eat at Morning Glory Restaurant. The house is serene, comfortable, interesting, and spotless. Loved sitting on the porches, sipping a drink, and reading a good book. Sometimes I just daydreamed.
We could not have enjoyed our stay at Ravenscroft more! The home is absolutely beautiful, warm, comfortable and relaxing. The location is very handy to wonderful restaurants, hiking and all of the other local attractions. We hope to return soon and often.
“What an amazing week!”
Loved this house! If you go for the "artsy" side, this is the house you want to stay in. It's super comfortable, very clean, and beautifully decorated. The location is great! Three minutes to the shops of Black Mountain and 2 big grocery stores nearby. You are close enough to asheville to go see the sights, but still have the experience of staying in a cabin, away from the bustle of the city. I have two children and they are already asking when we can go back!
“Ok location for those who don't need light to read and don't nee”
A mostly clean cabin in a nice neighborhood, very eclectically furnished. Very dark inside after dark, no lighting in dining area. Very slow wifi connection, but that's available close by at Ingles.
