“Beautiful comfortable digs in the Alfama!”
A wonderful place that exceeded our expectations! The location was a perfect place to call home while exploring Lisbon. Fantastic food seemed to be found on every corner and we enjoyed being close to places to hear Fado.
Response from the manager Thank you for your review. It was a pleasure to welcome you. Happy to know you liked the apartment and that it suited your needs :)
“Best girly weekend ever!”
We had such a great stay in this gorgeous apartment which is right in the heart of the charming old town. Perfect for friends or a family of four. Easy access to everything - fantastic!

“Lovely rental in Lisbon!”
My friends and I had a wonderful visit to Lisbon and truly enjoyed staying in the Chanceler apartment! It was a beautiful, comfortable home that is loved by the family to this day. The wi-fi worked well, the kitchen was easy to use, the 93 year old lady downstairs was an added bonus, and Antonio and Rita took good care of us. I would recommend it highly since it was near many restaurants, sites and shopping.
Response from the manager Thank you for your review it was a pleasure to welcome you also. I am happy you enjoyed your stay and that the apartment was as expected :)
“humid and loud accommodation in the Lisbon alfama”
The appartment is furnished with antiques which you might like or not, but we were received by a terrible smell in the bedrooms. It turned out that the accommodation is so humid that electric dehimidifiers had to run all the time. Opening the windows is not an option either because nights can be very noisy in the alfama quarter. Allergic persons beware! We were given a wrong mobile number and therefore lost two hours with checking in. What is written nowhere is the fact that the alfama is accessible only to registered cars. If you have rented your own car, you have to walk half a kilometer from the nearest accessible point and carry your baggage across cobblestones. As the accommodation is also quite pricey, I would not recommend it to anybody.
Response from the manager I am so sorry you had a bad experience with the apartment, I checked everything you said and tried my best to fix it so that it won't happen again. Has for the noise, you choose the Alfama Quarter which is the Fado neighborhood and the historical center of the city so it has lots of people in the street late at night. Some people like the feeling some people don't, it's a matter of taste. My sincere apologizes for any inconvenience.
“Charming apartment in alfama District”
This apartment is perfect for two couples or a family. It is furnished in tasteful antiques and has the "old authentic look", but with modern bathrooms and kitchen. We especially enjoyed the terrace on the warm evenings in april. The location is in a family neighborhood with fado restaurants jjust across the street and only blocks from the market square. It is on a steep hill so I would suggest it for those who like a challenging walk. It is also difficult to find - even for cab drivers. You cannot drive a car to the apartment so I would suggest the apartment for those that do not have a car. The public transit is great. Overall, I would highly recommend this home for those that want an authentic old Lisbon experience. The building is very old and smells musty inside despite modern updates,
Response from the manager Thank you for your kind review. I am glad you had a true Lisbon experience and that you enjoyed your stay. I do hope to hear from you again soon. Kind regards, Ema
“Great apartment in Lisbon”
We had a wonderful stay. Maria picked us up at the airport - an extra charge but worthwhile since the apartment may be difficult to find the first time. It is a lovely space, stylishly designed with antiques mixed with modern kitchen and baths. Her mom, Maria Jose, is the decorator and has superb taste. She is very helpful as well- she quickly replaced a coffee maker that had stopped working. We loved being in the middle of the alfama district- close to restaurants, fado clubs, and the street car line. Nice terrace with flowers for coffee in the morning. Only drawback- no view but walk 5 minutes and you can find one.
Response from the manager Hello, glad you enjoyed so much the apartment. In fact the terrace doesn't has a view but you can't have it all ;) Wish you all the best. Kind regards, Ema
