“Disappointed”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2012

The service we received was fine and the staff at the check-in and check-out desk were friendly, but at the end of the day, we felt "jipped." We opted for the studio condo based on pictures associated with the Groupon, it appeared to be any other studio condo. Not extremely small, but definitely some space to move. When we arrived at our location, not only was there very little space, but we realized our bed was stored in the wall. This type of arrangement was definitely not what was depicted in pictures. We were particularly irritated because we brought our infant with us and her pack and play and we literally, with the space given, were packed in like sardines. Basically, if we knew we'd be working with a room so small we would have foot the bill for a one bedroom. On top of our tight quarters, the room wasn't very clean. The pen and paper in the kitchen had hair and white paste plastered to it. A couple of the towels in the bathroom has red lipstick on it (I don't wear lipstick). Also, the room amenities were run-down. The kitchen sink faucet was missing a piece, the remotes were taped up, and the TV was banged up and couldn't come out of the TV stand so we could view it from another angle. We stay at Keystone frequently through their Rocky Mountain Blue program since we are both Military and I can easily say this condo was nothing compared to previous visits as far as space, cleanliness, and appearance (and yes we have stayed at other studios). Finally, there was no indication that the entire Keystone resort would be "Shut down" There were no activities (which we could deal with) but all the restaurants at the closest village were closed. To sum up our stay, I left extremely disappointed with the room including the banged up amenities, the cleanliness, and the misrepresentation online. Needless to say, I will never book through this organization. Our first mini-vacation since having our child was a complete disappointment and of very little comfort.

“What an amazing place!”

The room was beautiful, quaint and the perfect mountain lodge feel. It was clean, instructions were clear and very peaceful. Other than being put in a unit that had a heating unit blocking our view of the mountain, it was perfect (this was the only one that had the unit in front of it). We were disappointed to be put in this room since the capacity of of the lodge was very very low. We would definitely go back!!!

“Wonderful place for a getaway!”

Great location you are in walking distance to the ski lift. The man at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.

“Unbelievable Experience!! :-(”

Bed was horrible and very uncomfortable!!! I was sure this room consisted of bed bugs... No air Condition! No fan!!! Will not waste my time staying at this place ever again..very unpolite service... After hours are a joke...cannot get ahold of anyone at the office.. They charged for cleaning but nobody came to clean...

“Loved it...et al.”

Great space for one or two people...proximity to the Gondola and shuttle transportation to a-Basin and Breck exceptionally easy. Amazing all around experience.

“Overall a good experience.”

The bed/mattress was uncomfortable (like a fold out bed). Other wise the amenities were excellent, clean, updated and cozy. Very nice bathroom and kitchen. Gas fireplace w/ timer was also nice. Liked the patio w/ view of skiers on slopes. One sliding glass door blind was broken, otherwise everything worked well!

“relaxing”

It was wonderful to be right next to the gondola for such a great price. Everything was ready for us when we arrived and the condo was the perfect size for the two of us. I will use Key to the Rockies again.

“comfortable, great location”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2010

It was just my daughter and I so the studio was fine. It would be tight for more than 2 people. The location was fantastic for skiing. Cozy fireplace and nice kitchen. The people at Key to the Rockies were very friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tubs were very nice. suggestions: new blankets for the murphy bed and extra bedding. Also there was broken glass and other debris just outside the sliding door which should be cleaned up. We will use Key to the Rockies again!

“Studio”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2010

Well the service was through Key to the Rockies which has always been very professional and courteous. The studio was very small, very surprised that the bed was a hideaway. The location was my first at River Run nice and convienient. What I liked the best was probably location, the underground parking and easy access to elevator; the least would be the size of this studio unit, very very small.

“A Great Location”

Reviewed 18 Feb 2010

for avid skiers -- a very short walk to and from the gondola. Inside parking is a godsend. We actually spent two weeks in this unit. The murphy bed is not for everyone but we managed (mattress tends to sink towards the middle).. The kitchen is cramped and not well equipped for ones who want to eat in and the threat of having an inventory show up missing something is not well placed. Too many variables, i.e., small number of bowls (soup/cereal) compared to number of dinner plates. It would help if the refrigerator door was reversed; at least someone could get into it without having the cook move away from the range. Dining table chairs are all an accident waiting to happen (they need glue or some kind of strengthening). Despite 150W bulbs in the lamps it is still difficult to read in the space (darkish shades do not help). Blinds at the sliding door did not function initially; somewhat better after being worked on. They did, though, provide a measure of privacy (as did the large electrical terminal right outside the patio). Minimal closet space considering the extra linens and equipment stored there. Bathroom fan noisy; fan and lights work together on both switches. This was one of the first places we've stayed in where the bath tub did not immediately stop up when the water was turned on. A plus! This unit is advertised as holding 2 to 4; two are crowded. We stored our luggage in the corner past the sofa, stacking it. An oversize upholstered chair and coffee table take up a lot of space as does the armoire with the TV since it has to sit out about six inches from the wall because of the connections behind it.

Response from the manager I appreciate your suggestions regarding your stay in the Red Hawk Studio. I agree that if you are staying for 2 weeks in a studio it can be a little cramped! Although with avid skiers like yourself this is a small price to pay for a great location! Most stays in smaller unit like this are for shorter visits and that may be why there is limited plates and bowls. However we do require a certain number of plating for our units so I will check with your housekeeping team to make sure we are hitting those requirements. With the refrigerator door I will see if the homeowner will consider switching the way that it opens for a little more space in the kitchen. I will have our maintenance team go over and see about the dining room chairs. With the limited area in a studio, some basic items like back up blankets, humidifiers and fans do take up some space in the closet. I apologize for the noisy fan, but at least everything including the tub functioned as it was supposed to! Next time you come to Keystone I would love to tell you about all the great one bedrooms that we have available in the same neighborhood. At little extra space with longer stays goes a long way!
