“Nice place”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2014

This unit is awesome. The pool and beach were wonderful. Most of the staff is great, except the one the stole my phone. Lock everything on your safe.

“Perfect Location”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2014

Location, location, location. El Faro not only has beach front property but it is also close to the shops and restaurants on 5th. Typically we stay in hotels, however we loved the condo--with a full kitchen, multiple bathrooms and separate bedrooms, it felt like a home away from home. With 7 people, the living room area was tight but we did not spend much time in the condo. Compared to some of the other resorts around the area, our beach area was the perfect size, not too crowded and easy beach walking distance to food and drinks. We booked our stay last minute, so the penthouse level appeared to under construction. This was fixed within an day but we did have issues with the outdoor jacuzzi operating on a consistent basis. The staff were very quick to help and very friendly.

“Great property in a great location”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2014

We stayed at Reef 403 during the first half of December and had a wonderful time. The property is in a great central location (well, almost southern now that PDC has expanded northward so much), on the beach, and walking distance to some really great bars and restaurants. The new property management did an excellent job in ensuring we were happy with our unit; though we kept missing her, Angie from Caribbean Beach Properties kept dropping by every other day to make sure we had no issues. The maid service was every other day, which in our opinion, is better than daily so we didn't feel like we had to be out of the unit every day. We left word at the front desk that we preferred the maid come in the afternoon just in case we wanted to sleep in, and that seemed to work out well for us. The unit and property are exactly as pictured, and the furnishings are very nice. Our thanks to the owners for allowing us to enjoy their unit for a wonderful vacation.

“We enjoyed it!”

Reviewed 28 Nov 2013

We stayed at condo Reef 403 in October 2013. It was not our first time in Playa but the first time we stayed at El Faro. We enjoyed our vacation tremendously. The location is absolutely perfect: close to shopping, restaurants, beach - everything. Our favorite restaurant is Zenzi next door: the food, drinks are unbeatable. The condo itself is very quiet and nice too: there are basic appliances, plates, pots and pans, glasses, etc. We particularly enjoyed free phone calls to the us and in-room internet. When we got there first there were a few things missing or not working. We contacted the manager in the us (Tonya) and we got what we needed within a couple of hours even though it was 6 pm. Everything else was fixed the next day. We were told that the reason some things were missing or not working was due to them switching management companies, and I have to say that the new management company is great. It is located right across the street and things get fixed within only few hours. Their representative (Angie) stopped by every day to make sure that we did not need anything. We needed filters changed in the air-conditioner in the second room, Angie asked us what time would be most convenient and by the time we were back from the beach it was done. One thing that we missed was the instructions on how to use TV, AC, etc. We pressed a button on the TV remote control and lost TV programing until angie stopped by. She also had to show us how to use the aC so it would not blow straight at us when we are asleep. And the hot tub did not work the whole time we were there but we got credit for that which was fair. It was our favorite vacation in Playa del Carmen so far.

“Wonderful Getaway”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2013

This is truly a beautiful apartment. It is well maintained and has a wonderful view of the beach and ocean. We had all three of our daughters with us. The couch has a fold away, however the couch was so comfortable that my oldest slept on the couch itself. Our housekeeper Gloria was wonderful. She added the extra touches that made the stay special. The only issue was we couldn't get the hot tub to work. To be honest, we never asked for help with it since the weather was so warm, we were good just to go to the pool for cool water. If you get over to Cozumel, a really great restaurant was Panch's Backyard Grill. It had a lovely atmosphere and amazing food!! Everything you could want is a simple walk away. If a few short blocks is too much, the taxis are right outside of the hotel. This is definitely a trip I would love to repeat!

“Wonderful!!”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2013

The location of El Faro is excellent; you are step from the beach and 5th avenue. There were small issues with the a/C and electricity the first couple of days but the management company took care of the issues in a timely manner. I would definitely return to El Faro and recommend this place to friends and family. We had a great time and look forward to our return.

“Exceeded our expectations!”

Reviewed 6 Feb 2013

If you are ready to get out of the all-inclusive rut, I would highly recommend ElFaro condos. The condo was perfect and allowed us space, beautiful views, great beach, the ability to eat in the condo or go out to dine. Wicky's on site has wonderful food for lunches on the beach. We ate there one evening when it was raining and the food was very, very good. All the restaurants and shops are literally right outside the front door of ElFaro. The location cannot be beat. The staff at ElFaro was helpful and friendly and the daily maid service was an extra bonus in a condo. This vacation and facility gets an a+++!

“As Nice as the Pictures!”

Reviewed 9 Jan 2013

My wife and I spent Christmas and the following week with another couple at this beautiful condo. Everything was first rate, and winter is a great time to be in Playa. The oceanfront location was fantastic, and everything in the condo very comfortable and first rate. The only issues we had were around trying to get our rooftop jacuzzi working, which unfortunately never happened. The front desk staff was not very helpful, and seemed a bit annoyed as we continued to work on the issue. Otherwise service was fine, both in cleaning our room, and while lounging on the beach.

“Exceeded my expectations”

Reviewed 22 Dec 2012

I travel often and in most cases I end up disappointed with my accommodations as the picture is usually nicer. In this case it was the opposite. The condo was in new condition, clean, fresh furniture. Bed was in new condition. The views were better than the photos , Great rooftop penthouse views and the balcony is huge! I enjoyed my stay. There was no noise at night. It was very quiet at Reef 403 as it sits between condos and not on a street. I did have to request to have the jacuzzi filled from the front desk, which they did the next day. My only disappointment was they didn't service it with chlorine so it was fairly dirty stale water after two uses and I didn't use it after that. I recommend the Fusion next door south of the condo for dinner on the beach it was beautiful. I do not travel to the same place twice but if I did I would stay there again.

“At PDC is all about location”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2012

Good experience at EL Faro reef 403. Location is the best, right at the beach and one block to the nicest part of 5TH avenue. Upon arrival at EL Faro, very late evening, Sylvia the hostess at the front desk was very Helpfull, the extra bed we requested was already set. There were no ammenities upon arrival such as soap ETC but they were placed the next morning. The Galon of water is a nice thing to have at the apartment and it was replaced upon request. The telephone provided at the unit 403 was not working therefore we have to walk to the front desk Everytime we needed help with something. The second day of our vacation we had no electricity and no running water for several hours due to major repairs at the hotel as we were told. The best part of the vacation was coming back to our unit to the roof top terrace and watch the sunset at the Jacuzzi. However the Jacuzzi was Filty at the end, the maids Didnt clean the Jacuzzi, but they do wash the dishes, pots and pans if you leave them a tip. Sylvia at the front desk was very helpful and always with a smile. No WI FI at the unit, only at front desk. Wickys restaurant is Excelent, good service and Excelent food right at the beach. Again, location and the rooftop terrace made our vacation stand out the best.
