“Great location in west Maui”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2014

Maui Kai 703 is on the ocean with views of neighbour islands. It's quiet but close to the shopping centre. The staff are friendly and helpful. The negative is a cluttered condo with too much furniture and spacious closets full of junk. Who needs a Chinese tea set? The Murphy bed is comfey but if it's down you need to navigate a crowded room. Air conditioning is a big plus. The bathroom and lanai are good. It's one of the better Chasen Rainbow properties.

“A pleasant experience.”

Reviewed 26 Mar 2014

Everyone at the Maui Kai were very pleasant and helpful to deal with Unit 703 was nicely decorated and we felt very much at home. Had never slept in a "Murphy Bed" before, and found it to be very comfortable. We love the area and enjoyed walking to many of the businesses(groceries, restraunts and fun shopping) in the area. The ocean view was fantastic and throughly enjoyed watching the whales, sufers, paddleboarders, turtles, windsails etc.. There was never a dull moment when relaxing on the Lani.

“Loved the view.”

The service was great. We liked the view and location of the rental. The rental was within walking distance to restaurants and the Time Market and close to the foot path to the Beach Walk. Watching the wales and sea turtles was a plus.

“Nice stay at Maui Kai 703”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2013

We stayed at MauiKai 703 in Sept 2013. It's a good sized studio unit; plenty of room for two people. The west-facing view is spectacular at sunset, with the sun setting into the ocean between Lanai and Molokai. This is direct waterfront building;so the sound of the waves is ever present; hope you like that. Since the unit faces west, the afternoon sun can heat up the room,so there is a sunshade on the lanai that you can unroll that really helps to cut down the heat. We found the murphy bed to be quite comfortable. The dressers and living room furniture are OK but look like they've been around a while. We rented some nice beach towels for $2/week (from the rental company) which was quite a bargain. There were coolers and foam noodles available in the room that we did not expect. If those are standard it would be good to know that up-front and not bother bringing/buying them yourself. The kitchen had plenty of utensils, plates, pots, pans etc. Some of the glasses and coffee cups didn't match but it really doesn't matter to me. The stereo is a little dated but we never really used it. Internet access is included;it's not particularly fast, so I don't think you'll be streaming movies to your laptop, but it is plenty good to surf the Internet, get your email, etc. Being on the 7th floor and oceanfront, there always seems to be a quite breeze, even a bit of a wind-tunnel effect at times. If the vents on the door let in a little more air the room would cool off a little better w/o aC. Even so, in September, we only used a/C on the first night. There's lots of parking. Despite many repeated attempts, we never made it into the pool or hot tub. All in all the issues with this room are really minor and we would/will stay here again on a future trip to Maui, and unless you're a "chocolates on the pillow, need the bed turned-down" kind of person (in which case you probably need a hotel room and not a condo anyway) I would definitely recommend this room and Maui Kai in general.

“Great spot right on the ocean.”

Reviewed 30 May 2013

I sent a review in a few days ago. Again, very nice staff and very helpful. Studio was smaller than expected. We were used to the size studio at the Valley Isle. Location was fine. I didn't want to be too near the big hotels in Whaler's Village. We loved the pool and hot spa and used it alot. Also, looked and loved seeing the sea turtles right below us. We would stay at the Maui Kai again. Maybe not a Murphy bed and better TV setup.

“Fantastic view from so-so unit”

Reviewed 3 May 2013

The Maui Kai is a one of the hidden gems o Maui and I hate to say this because more people will find out how wonderful it is. Quiet, fantastic oceanfront views, free parking, and close to beach. I have stayed here many times and it is always my first choice of places to stay when I want to play tourist on Maui. However the unit #703 was only so-so in quality. I had issues with the door key, sliding glass door coming off track, and inability to lock slider. The unit was "buggier" than others I have stayed in in the past. The price of this unit was the cheapest available at the time I was traveling so I got what I paid for.

“Fantastic”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2013

We rented this property from Mar16-Mar19, 2013 and it was a fantastic experience. The ocean fron view was so good that we were able to watch the sunset and lot of whales sitting on the balcony itslef. We did not really had to take a special tour to watch whales and sunset. The beach is right down below. The property itself is so convenient and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and its very near to a grocery store (called supermart). We got almost everything in that grocery store. Its like safeway or walmart. The location of the condo is superb!! It has a fantastic swimming pool and watersports just adjacent to the property. We would definetely recommend this place for a family of 3-4. Awesome experience and a wonderful condo. We did not feel like leaving that place at all.

“Pure bliss!”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2012

Wonderful unit! Wallbed is a plus. Ocean view and sounds were fantastic. If you're into quiet/relaxation-- this is it. I happen to write. Not the best place for pool activities, or direct beach access. Helpful people on site.

“Whale watching was awesome!”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2012

From start to finish the visit was easy. Great directions on how to get to Maui Kai and how to check in. Onsite people were great. Check out was nothing at all - just a phone call the day before to ask when we were leaving. The unit was very comfortable and nicely furnished. Definitely older but not an issue - Murphy bed was the best sleeping I had in a while. The view over the ocean with rainbows and whale watching was unbelievable. Lanai furniture could have been more comfortable for long term sitting.

“great view,”

Reviewed 12 May 2011

nice studio, could use a few amenities like some decent comfortable deck furniture, beach chairs, boogie boards. a/c works when it wants to, but if you open the lanai doors it cools off well and you can hear the ocean. awesome views of the sunset and whales from the lanai. pool is smaller than some, but the pool house is great and well equipped for supper around the bbq. beach in front is too short to sit on without getting wet, but the beach next door is longer, and it is only a short walk to a great public beach.
