“Best vacation experience ever.”
The service we received was exceptional. We were given contact names for shuttle service from the airport, tour guide information, and much more. The condo unit was spacious, and well located. We watch the sun set every night, and had a birds eye view. Turtles played in the ocean just yards away, and we watched whales play farther out. The swimming pool and BBQ area were first class. We enjoyed many social drinks after a long day with other tenants. The local market was with in walking distance and we enjoyed fresh vegetables and fruit on a daily basis. We will definitely return another year.
I have been coming to Maui for 13 years and stayed in a variety of condos Nd hotels. Hale Kai and this unit get an a plus! The location is perfect. There is a view of the ocean from the living room and the bedroom. The unit was well stocked with everything we needed. (Although the tv could have been a but larger, but we were only watching it at night). There is no ac but that is common in condos here. The louvred windows kept a nice breeze going. The pool is ocean front and every night the residents blow conches at sunset. Did I mention how friendly everyone was? Across the street was a great coffee shop and the barista remembered our drink every morning! We were minutes from great snorkeling or Kaanapali and Lahaina. We can't wait to come back and sty here again!
“Week in paradise”
Hale Kai is a lovely place. Every view from my condo was of the ocean. It was just about perfect, very clean and quiet. The people who live in or stay in the condos are very friendly. I could walk to the Farmers' Market, restaurants and shops.I was pleased there was a laundromat on the premises. My only complaints are that I was given the wrong code to access the pool and one night a huge roach ran across my foot while I was in the living room.
“Perfect location, lovely views, fully stocked kitchen, ocean lul”
I arrived in Maui, called Chase 'N Rainbows and asked if I might be able to check in early. They called back and said yes! My condo was ready by Noon! I chose this condo because of the location. I wanted to be as close to the ocean as possible and wanted to stay near the farmer's market (almost across the street). I also wanted a top floor, off-street facing unit. Unit 204 was quiet - it's perpendicular to the street and is buffered by the units closest to the street so you don't hear street or parking lot noise. The landscaping is very nice and lush. I loved sitting at the pool for about an hour every day and gazing at the ocean, Honu (huge, green sea turtles that feed very close to the water) and watching a few sunsets. The pool area was immaculate and had plenty of chairs and umbrellas for all guests. The unit itself is modestly buy comfortably furnished. The kitchen and all the major appliances are very new and very nice. There are nice dishes and utensils - I love to cook and this kitchen had everything I needed to cook most of my meals. There is a coffee maker (I don't drink coffee), toaster and a blender. I am spoiled because I have a Vitamix pro blender at home so this blender made me sad because it didn't blend things well. I loved leaving all the window open at night - the ocean is loud (which I love) and it lulled me to sleep every night for 9 nights. Hot water lasted for only about 5 minutes but that was only a minor issue. I will stay here again for certain. The only negative: the people in unit 203 were smoking. I reported this to Chase 'N Rainbows and I can tell they took care of it. I am certain whoever owns 203 would not want people smoking *inside* their unit. This is marketed as a smoke-free property. I was happy that the smoking issue was resolved quickly. Everyone I encountered at Chase 'N Rainbows was wonderful, cheery and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I traveled solo.
“Very nice unit at a great location.”
The service was adequate. We asked for 4 beach towels and we got them. The $141.00 "check out + linens" cleaning fee seems exorbitant. Kinda made me want to leave the dirty dishes in the sink. Unless the windows and carpets were being cleaned between rentals (not), it's a lot, and seems like it should be their cost not ours. We loved the location of the unit in the building. Ocean views on both sides! Our only real complaint about the unit itself was that the TV in the bedroom wasn't functional, either as a TV or to view videos. Fix it or take it out. It is in the pictures and was one of the reasons we chose the unit. We could not have asked for more in a location! The park right next to the condo provided perfect access to the ocean, great snorkeling, and turtle watching. The turtles came to feed every day, and we were able to snorkel with them. Three Spotted Eagle Rays visited, in three feet of water, right out in front of the beach. The lanai was a lovely place to people watch, bird watch, and see the sunset. A big tree in the park, right across from the lanai, provided cooling shade from the afternoon heat. Lots of birds to see and hear there. We could also go down and watch the sunset from the pool area, and socialize with other residents if we wanted. The condo is 15 minutes from Napili, and 20 minutes from Honolua Bay for more great snorkeling. Lots of places to eat and things to see close by. Farmers market is across the street, but if you buy pineapple there you will pay a lot more than at the Times market a few blocks down the street. This is not a "luxury" unit, but it's a luxury location, and that is what we were looking for. It's recently remodeled, and quite nice though, not tired or run down looking at all. We would rent this unit again in a heart beat, and probably will. Mahalo
“Excellent proximity and value!”
We were delighted with this condo in that it really had everything we wanted--snorkelling (immediately saw a turtle!), sandy beach (we only discovered on the last day that there is one with access via the north end of the swimming pool), sunset views and organic farmers' market. Just a minor criticism/suggestion: Cooking required the purchase of what I consider to be the most essential items to enjoy even a basic fried egg: salt & pepper and perhaps a little oil - be it canola/sesame or olive. I felt that such a small thing would make a whole lot of sense for anyone. I know I left those items for the next renters...
“Best oceanfront value on Maui!”
The Hale Kai is a great condo value. From the living room you have a great view of the park and the ocean, and the bedroom offers a view of the pool and ocean as well. The location is great, right across the street from the local farmers market and health food store that makes great smoothies. We watched the turtles right in front of the condo almost every day. I have been staying here since the mid 70's and love it every time. Highly recommended!
“Great family getaway!”
We really didn't want to leave such a great spot! We were somewhat comfortable, however, the unit needs some small improvements. For our family of four, 3 and 1 yr old, it worked well. There was enough room for everyone- but would want a 2 bdrm next time. Kids are small enough at this age it didn't matter. One warning to others with small children, our youngest's head/body could fit thru the balcony railings - needs to be much more narrow. We had to be very cautious. All general amenities provided- liked the filter on the tap in kitchen! Decor was pretty neat! Very convenient to pool, parking, all shopping close by, private-like tiny bay beach! And park for the kids. No air - never an issue. Kind of a loud unit.. Due to all with windows open, proximity of park, road and other building- however didn't bother us - with the only two kids in the complex I'm sure others heard us more. Fabulous vacation - enjoyed every minute! Thank you so much!
Hale Kai not the Ritz Carleton but clean and comfortable. Quiet and close to the area amenities. Front screen was pulled loose on the Front Door. Sliding Lani screen needs repair hard to open and shut. Few little pesky ants. Reported to clean- ing service. Price is right and would stay again.
“Almost Perfect Condo Unit Next to the Beach”
The condo is nice and clean even though it's an old one. The kitchen is completely stacked up with plates, flatwares, and knives so cooking is not really a problem at all. It's very close to the Farmer's Market which opens few times a week as well as the coffee shop nearby. I know we were told that there is no aC in the unit, but it became really hot during the day. It is right next to the water which is really awesome but the splashing of the water against the rocks almost drove me crazy at night. Also, the bed as well as the sofa bed are both very difficult to sleep in. They were hard and I could swear there are bed bugs as we all woke up with bites in our arms and legs. The owner should invest in replacing these old, worn out beds. We will absolutely be back if the beds were replaced.
