“Awesome house in good location”
Greg's House was a perfect place to call home for a week in antigua. It was clean, well-kept, fully stocked, comfortable, and fun. We loved having choices of places to lounge, places to eat, rooms to sleep in, etc. Every room has their own bathroom! The roof top deck was the main event for all of the guests in my group. We did not expect to be lounging up there in the evenings and watching Pacaya Volcano spout plumes of lava at the same time. Breathtaking. Jb, the house manager, took great care of us and was there if we needed anything. And saving the best for last, the Jeep! I honestly do not know how we would have enjoyed our time without being able to use the Jeep. It was so convenient and really made the place feel like home away from home. Will recommend this house to anyone I know of traveling to antigua. Thanks Greg, JB & Nancy!
Response from the owner Thanks Lizzy! The volcano you can see from our rooftop is called Fuego and is located 9 miles south-west of the property. Pacaya is in the next valley and cannot be see from the house...although there are many tours that will take you there for a hike -- an incredible outing!
“Great stay in antigua”
My wife, two teenage sons, and I stayed at Casa de Gregorio in antigua this summer, and we really enjoyed it. The house has enough room that we could spread out, with both kids having their own room. The wifi worked well, which kept the kids happy, and the kitchen had everything we needed to take a break from eating out now and then. Nancy, the housekeeper, is a sweet lady who made us a nice Guatemalan breakfast and dinner. She took the time to explain all of the different Guatemalan dishes to us. Even though our Spanish is not very good, we were able to figure it all out, and we had a great time talking to her as well as eating the food. J. B., the property manager took us on a couple of nice trips while we were there: to Lake atitlan and Chichicastenango and to the coast at Puerto San Jose for a nice seafood lunch. He explained a lot of the local customs, and we really enjoyed travelling around with him on our trip. The trip to the market in Chichicastenango was especially nice, where J.B. helped us negotiate good prices for some souvenirs. Staying in the house is quite convenient: I liked that the airport transfers can be arranged when the house is reserved and the use of the car for driving around town saved us the trouble of trying to rent one ourselves while we were there. Antigua is small enough that the car was mostly needed for the short drive (~5 minutes) into the center of town to find a place to park and then walk around, but it was very convenient when we bought groceries. We also flew to Flores to go to Tikal and climbed Pacaya while we were there, and Case de Gregorio made a great base to see lots of Guatemala. Thanks Greg, J. B. and Nancy for the everything.
“A palace... just outside a beautiful town!”
Really lovely house, heaps of room to hang about and relax inside/outside and just a little drive into town - plus you can use Greg's car! A few hiccups we had were sorted out quickly thanks to Jose the house manager. Nancy the house keeper is also fabulous :) Nancy will come over and flutter around tidying and airing out the place, and we were lucky enough that Jose sang for us one afternoon! Guatemala is beautiful, and despite being a little worried about security before we went we were met with friendly people, gorgeous scenery and plenty of laughs along our adventures - great as a base for day trips out to Lake attitlan, up Volcan Pacaya, a jade workshop with a master craftsman and a trip to a cacao plantation or coffee plantation. Awesome holiday, and a great place to come home to after a busy day everywhere!! And the view out the window of the master bedroom is awesome!! We would all love to come back one day :) Go there, have a great time and there will be a little smile for yourself while you sit up on the roof and watch the volcanos having your favourite beverage wondering why you ever questioned yourself! Enjoy!
Thank you so much for everything, the house was amazing and everything including Nancy was perfect. I can´t found the words to describe the experience but we hope to return some day to this wonderful place, thanks for all. Sincerely... Ivonne B. S. P.D.- thanks for all Greg and José both are wonderful people, thank you for your attention.
We had a great time at this comfortable, clean, cosy house before leaving for our second week at the lake. I think this was the best equipped house I've ever rented - more like a home than just a rental. It's in a quiet area just out of town - a bit tricky to find, so we were grateful for the map provided, and for the house phone and cell phone for contacting the airport, taxi drivers etc. Bottled water isn't necessary as there is a filtered water tap. The land-rover was very useful for runs into town. My Spanish isn't brilliant but I managed to communicate with the lovely Nancy, the housekeeper, well enough. I can recommend her tasty Guatemalan bbq. Jose spoke good English and was charming. We had a spontaneous musical evening one night with him on the house keyboard and my sons' partners singing, as he plays the piano in local hotels! We spent a lot of time in the sheltered garden and sitting on the roof decking watching the volcano belching smoke in the distance. My son was a big fan of the Mayan sauna. We climbed the Pacaya volcano on a day when you couldn't see a thing (I went up on horseback!), but it was still great fun, sliding back down the ash in zero visilbility (yes, you will get very dirty). We walked up to the Mirador in antigua to admire the view and had a laugh making chocolate from scratch at the Choco Museum with the irrepressible Pablo. The Porta Hotel (8a Calle Poniente) has a lovely pool and garden that you can pay a few dollars to use if you feel like a lazy day. We enjoyed the guided tour of the old convent at the Hotel Santa Domingo (the guide is quite a character). There are so many lovely bars and restaurants in the town, but we particularly enjoyed Frida's (great food and staff) on 5th avenue North (where the Santa Catalina arch is). We could easily have spent another week here!
“A wonderful retreat in antigua”
My husband and I have stayed in Greg's lovely home twice in the last 13 months or so. We just got married in antigua and knew we wanted to stay in the home again during our experience leading up to the wedding. The house is beautiful. The decor is welcoming and calming after a long day trekking around town. And the use of the car is a really nice plus. Loved sitting out on the front porch with our morning coffee and waving at the security guards and sitting in the backyard reading in the afternoon. Greg is attentive to any requests and really does all he can to make you feel comfortable. We had the housekeeper make us dinner and it was really great. One of our best meals. Definitely take Greg up on his restaurant recommendations. Our faves. Cafe Condessa, Tartine, brunch or dinner at Meson Panza Verde, Hotel Posado de Don Rodrigo, and most definitely kids restaurant. We had the most amazing experience there and if you can make it to the restaurant I highly recommend. I loved that Greg's house is off the beaten path a bit and quieter, but still close enough that you could even walk or bike if you don't want to use the car. Love antigua so much and this house is really special.
“amazing views and beautifull house”
Greg, the owner was very helpfull, and very quick in his replies. The house is really nice, with alot of different spaces, aswell inside and and in the garden. This made it perfect for us (5 people) to live in, as well to even invite some extra people to stay over. The big kitchen, fully equiped is great as well. The view from the masterbedroom and the terace is really very nice. The car we got was great! Just 5 min. and you are in the centre of antigua. We knew antigua very well allready, it was very nice this time to live just outside of the center and wake up peacefully, with the sound of the birds and the views of the vulcano. I would highly recommend it. Thx Greg.
My husband and I stayed at "Casa De Gregrio" for one glorious week in December. We were thrilled by the tranquilty of the house, which is located just outside antigua. The house had everything we needed to ensure our stay was comfortable. All of the people we met while staying here were friendly and helpful. The owner, Greg was extremely accommodating. He answered all of questions and provided us with valuable resources--arranging our transportation to and from the airport as well as our daily in home Spanish lessons. Sabina, our Spanish teacher, was friendly and knowledgeable. Her lessons were tailored around our personal needs and our visit to San antonio aguas Calientes was unforgettable. We miss the warmth of the people and the spectacular views on the roof-top deck. If we find our way back to antigua, we would definitely stay here again. Muchas Gracias!
“Lovely house, great location”
This house, situated just outside of antigua, is beautiful and very well maintained. The gardens are super peaceful and great for sitting and enjoying the view, the sun, or a meal. A car is provided for the five minute drive into town, or anywhere else in the area. Being outside of the center gives you a peaceful, quiet environment while still being just minutes away from the center. Gardner and maid are provided. Perfect place for as many as six or eight people. Highly recomended
I was completely delighted by the charm and warmth of Casa Gregirio. I felt completely at home and cozy (in a very nice sized house). It was a perfect oasis just minutes outside of the hustle and bustle. Beautiful gardens offered a space of serenity and I loved cooking in the kitchen! Thank you for offering a space that is filled with comfort and love! I look forward to staying there again on my next visit.
