“You can have all the stars you want but you can't fake what Alice in Athens has”
I can't say enough good things about this place - I hate hotels from 1 star to 6 stars they rarely have any personality and nearly never have any human warmth. I will always do what I can to seek out an alternative. What an alternative! John - I will call him the host rather than any thing like proprietor - is warm, welcoming, charming, intelligent, observant but also gives you a huge amount of space. We arrived late which meant he had to wait for us. Which was fine and kind. But then he showed us where to park the car, where to get dinner and where breakfast was in the morning. The best bit was that because he was bored he had decided to make banana bread so the soft, warm smell of cooking banana bread was radiating through the house. It instantly became a home, though temporary, in Athens. All the other stuff was just as I would like it. The breakfast you make yourself which is great with a kid - freshly squeezed oranges, eggs, cereals and of course banana bread. The view from our room's roof terrace was also stunning - the Acropolis framed by the street and bath in golden light. Really, go here. Relax in a frenetic city. It's wonderful - he may even have been baking when you stay
“Great location, apartments & host”
We loved alice Inn. The location does not get much better than this, on a quiet street, just around the corner from the Plaka's pedestrian streets, restaurants and shops. We found the price was similar to what hotels were charging for one room for 4 of us to share, so this was a really great value. We rented 2 rooms on one floor for our family of 4, which worked out perfectly. We were able to share the bathroom located in the kids' apartment (Anthony Quinn room) where they were able to spread out into 2 separate rooms. Our apartment (Mighty aphrodite room) was very light, spacious and had a sweet balcony. John, the owner, was so helpful, accommodating and friendly. His "Alice Inn Book of Knowledge", listing all the good restaurants & shops in the area, was greatly appreciated. He prepared a lovely breakfast for us of fresh orange juice, fruit, yogurt, wonderful coffee, fresh breads and yummy homemade granola & jams. We highly recommend alice Inn and would definitely return again.
We had a great time in athens. The apartment was great. John a wonderful host. We took over the full apartment. All 6 of us had a room each. Thanks for moving out to allow this John and thanks for the soup you made for us on arrival. We all would come back.
Response from the owner Thanks for your nice comments Colin, you and the lads are welcome back any time. Cheers for the haggis! John

“Alice in the wonderland of the gods”
If you love ancient culture and are looking for a stay in athens, Alice Inn is an excellent choice. We, two grandparents and their two elder granddaughters, lived there in two independant appartments for eight days. The hotel is situated in a quite street but nevertheless in one of the most lively areas of athens, at the base (and with view) of the acropolis and near the agora and the Forum. It is a mansion that bears the personality of its attentive and helpful owner. In alice Inn we were in wonderland.
“A charming, excellently located B&B;, with a great host”
Stayed here a couple of nights in June. Very easy to find, and very convenient to get here from the airport, can take the metro right into town and walk five minutes from Syntagma station. Rooms are large, bright, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Top floor room has a gorgeous roof terrace. Best thing is the owner, John. Very knowledgeable about the city, the history, the local sights, and excellent recommendations on things to do and see. If he has time, he might even join you for a stroll around the neighbourhood.
We stayed here for one week with the 7 of us. marvelous rooms, fantastic top roof seats for the early morning and the late evenings. Thanks John for hosting us.
“Great quality, location and value”
The service was extremely professional, welcoming, friendly and flexible. The place is beautifully decorated, with high ceilings and a lot of space. The rooms are very clean, quiet and bright due to their big windows. The place also had a great sense of privacy. It is located in the beautiful and safe neighbourhood of Plaka in the heart of athens. The one-way street lies within a five minute walk of the main attractions but there is barely any traffic or noise. It's a great place to get some deep, refreshing sleep and then enjoy the sights that the city offers!
