“Step back in time and experience hillside living in this lovely renovated fully equipped apartment.”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2016

Yes, step back in time and climb the steps up narrow passageways to this lovely renovated apartment in a 16th century building. It comes with everything you need on your vacation. It helps to have a good set of legs to climb up and down to the village and harbor below. It was worth every step even for two older ladies. Muriel greeted us with a basket full of goodies. Her husband offered tours of the surrounding area. The apartment is located very near the train station. Many restaurant are near by as are the grocery stores and bakeries and shopping. How did we get so lucky to find this charming apartment to complete our visit to France in Villafranche-sur-Mer? This village is centrally located between Nice and Monaco on the beautiful blue Mediterranean. The spacious apartment has windows on three sides and looks out over red tiled roofs. You can get a peek at the water from a couple of windows. Can you tell I loved staying in this apartment.

“PERFECTION IN A WONDERFUL LOCATION”

Reviewed 19 Jun 2014

We chose the stay in Villefranche-sur-Mer while attending the Grand Prix in Monaco and found this wonderful apartment for lease. We found our way to the apartment from the train station and met with Muriel who showed us around the apartment. What a wonderful apartment and an even more wonderful host. Muriel is very proud (and so she should be) of this lovely property - beautifully renovated and all sundries supplied. Muriel even presented us with a gift basket with some goodies to make us feel at home. I left an item of clothing behind and Muriel forwarded in on to me - no problem - thanks again Muriel. Nearby are many restaurants and a supermarket and bolangerie. Perfect location - being between Nice and Monaco - and a breeze to catch the train either way. We consider ourselves very lucky to have been able stay in Muriel's 'Heavens Nest' and would definitely return when in the area again and recommend to all.

“Not our first trip to this region, but one of the most spectacul”

To stay in te old town of Villefranche sur mer, with its small cobbled streets and hidden charm was an absolute joy ! .. The appartment we stayed in was just a couple of minutes from the bay of Villefranche, and never more than a couple of minutes from a restaurant, bar, or local amenities. It was just what we wanted, clean well decorated and comfortable. Muriel was excellent, and the whole experience was a joy ... From the morning run and dip in the sea, to morning coffee and a read of the English newspapers, to the sightseeing locally to the evening meal the whole thing was a huge pleasure and one we will go back and replicate i`m sure .. In our excitement to find the appartment we failed to follow Muriels detailed appartment finder including google earth images .. Parking in Villefranche can be difficult so next time we might rely on the local bus & train service .. We ended up parking round in the port of Villefranche which was convenient and free .. the walk back from there to the town is 5 minutes or so around the sea wall .. Be sure to visit the port restaurant `Joyeuse Boleyn` and have the catch of the day ! .. and for a special occasion " La Bourride" restaurant in Cagnes Sur Mer .. Very expensive but excellent food and service .. If you can manage endless steps and gradiants and enjoy the French way of life a stay in Villefranche will be an absolute joy ! .. and booking with Muriel will ensure i`m sure that there are no last minute problems.. from the communication before and during our stay to the welcome pack of essentials .. the whole thing was fabulous !

Response from the manager Dear Shane, it's always such a pleasure to have wonderful guests like you, but also to see that my many efforts to make the apartment to his best and make the experience a great one, is fullfilled ! Thanks again for taking such good care of the apartment. I really hope to see you again soon ! Cheers Muriel and William

“Genuine, lovely village experience.”

Reviewed 9 May 2013

Beautiful, ancient, picturesque, blue water-beach side village. Packed with great restaurants, and sunny cafe's 'The' city is literally 2 minutes away (by train) should you need more excitement, or want to wander the old city... Retreating back to the hushed cobbled walkways makes for a very authentic french experience. Muriel is a great resource and can help you in perfect english should your french be a bit rusty... Although there is so much to see nearby - we often chose not to leave the village walls. (don't miss 'Les Garcons' a few step away (maybe 15!), both food and service are beautiful.)

“We will always remember this special apartment & hope to return”

This fully-equipped modern apartment and its location are perfect! Muriel provided every possible amenity & lots of information about places to visit, transportation, restaurants, as well as answers to all our questions. There is a washer/dryer, microwave, flat-top electric stove, plenty of pots/pans, utensils, dishes; a full oven, dishwasher, big screen TV, even a full size refrigerator/freezer! The apartment is beautifully decorated and the 2 beds/baths are separated by the living area for privacy. Excellent restaurants abound in this small village, and it is simple and inexpensive to travel up and down the coast by train or bus, both just a short walk from the apartment. There are numerous shops and even outdoor vegetable/fruit/cheese/fish/etc. markets open year-round! The people are pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Beaches and scenery in Villefranche-sur-mer and throughout the area are unsurpassed in beauty and charm. We are looking forward to our next stay!

“Lovely apartment in Villefranche”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2013

From the outset my experience with Muriel was positive and efficient. My month at Heaven's Nest was wonderful. The apartment is beautifully appointed, with everything a home away from home requires. The location is excellent, close to the restaurants and local shops near the water, and a challenging walk from the Institut de Français where I was studying. I have already booked this lovely apartment for the same time next year..and I look forward to renewing my acquaintance with the locals who so warmly welcomed me to their beautiful village.

“the perfect stay”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2012

My family and I really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful appartment during summer 2012 It was a very nice appartment with two bathrooms which is perfect for a family of four. It was also very clean with thoughtful attentions such as beach towels and beach carpets/parasol to enjoy the beach which is just steps away from the appartment. The nearby restaurants were also very good. We would definitely recommend this appartment We also had the perfect greating by the appartment manager Muriel Berdat and her sister Samantha who were simply amazing, All and all the perfect set up and greeting which made are stay very enjoyable. Villefranche sur Mer is a very nice place to vacation and the people are very friendly.

“Don't Think Twice!”

Most reviews give similar accounts...after all, we are referencing the same places, but the short of it is...This apartment is fantastic... Stay here and enjoy it while you can! We spent a wonderful week in this fabulous, updated apartment during early September, 2011. Muriel is the perfect host... extremely thoughtful, sincere, knowledgeable, and readily available if needed. As for the apartment in general, we found it lacking in nothing... all the comforts and conveniences of home were available, including a wonderfully thoughtful and useful welcome basket, replete with wine to start our journey in Villefranche. As two couples we particularly enjoyed the two separate and complete bathrooms. Wifi and the phone service worked splendidly and gave us a sense of security and relief maintaining a connection with family back home when necessary. The television was wonderful but never used since we were too busy taking in all of Villefranche! The location is great being close to all conveniences, sights, and amenities, including train access...even the beach is but a very pleasant stroll away! A wonderful variety of restaurants are within a short walk. Perhaps the best restaurant of all, one of combined value and quality, is literally across the walkway. Don't miss it! Probably the single most important impression we have in retrospect is that we truly felt at home! The locals are friendly and helpful, and we spoke with people that have returned on numerous occasions for the beauty, the warmth and the charm of Villefranche sur Mer. We truly hated to leave and continue to talk about an encore!

Response from the manager Dearest Bill, thank you so much for your beautiful review. William and I actually where so happy to meet you all. It's been a pleasure to chat a little, and we would like to thank you also for taking so good care of our apartment ! Don't hesitate to come back any time, you and your crew will always be welcome. I suppose your health is doing better. We are truthfully wishing you and you family and friends all the best ! Muriel and William BERDAT !

“Luxurious Haven in the heart of old town Villefranche”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2011

My Family - my wife , myself and two grown up children (24 + 26) had a blast at Muriels place. Very comfortable apartment -ideal for four adults. Centrally located in the heart of old town Villefranche... amongst the narrow cobbled streets with superb cafes and restaurants. A short stroll to the harbour and to the beach. Walk to the train station for regular service to Nice (and wetsward) and to Monaco (eastward). Would have loved to stay longer than the four great days we had there ... will book earlier next time.

“nice one..very nice one.!!!”
