“Exactly what we were looking for!”

Reviewed 24 Mar 2015

This sweet little cabin was a perfect setting for our winter getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We like winter - cross country skiing and snowshoeing, so we decided to try the Adirondacks having spent winter vacations in other areas of New England and Canada in the past. The cabin sits on a secluded area of Piseco Lake and has a full view of the lake with no neighboring cabins. The setting is perfect - faces west for a nice sunset. There's a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. Also Snowshoes! We dug out the snowy fire pit and actually had a campfire in 10 degree weather! If you visit in summer, there's kayaks, etc. It's just the right size for a couple but can probably accommodate 2 couples if you really like each other :). The 2 bedrooms were comfortable and nicely made with enough bedding to keep us cozy in sub zero windy nights. The living room area has a gas fireplace with a blower so it provided extra heat in addition to the electric heat system. The kitchen had all the modern conveniences and plenty of dishes, cookware, and utensils, beautiful range and full size fridge. There is also a little TV room with a L-shaped couch to watch Netflix. Some may not enjoy the fact that there is no cable or cell service, but I loved it because I could completely un-plug. Wifi is available so you can check your email and surf the net if you need to. Town is only a 10 minute drive, and cellular picks up right away. I loved this little place and really didn't want to leave. It was just great!

“Perfect, Perfect, Perfect!!!”

Reviewed 18 Feb 2015

My fiancé and I have stayed here twice now, once in the spring and once in the winter, and both times were absolute perfection. The cabin is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures and the scenery is so peaceful and gorgeous. We have decided to make this a yearly tradition and plan to bring another couple with us next time to expose this amazing place to more people. We tell everyone about it!! It's even more special to us now because after my fiancé proposed to me this past Christmas eve, I told him while we were at our first stay at the cabin, the whole time I was hoping he would propose. So, during our second stay, he got down on one knee and proposed...again! Wonderful memories at a wonderful spot. :)

“Incredible Quiet and Secluded Getaway Spot”

Reviewed 27 Feb 2014

Just spent 1 week at the cabin and can't tell you how hard it was to leave. The cabin itself is in great condition, beautifully built and impeccably maintained. All the amenities one would need without any of the clutter. The location is incredible, overlooking a small lake. I was there during the week of heavy snow storms and the views were inspiring. As indicated in the description, there are so many things to do within a short driving range and I am already thinking about trying to book another trip up there later in the year. The owners were a delight to deal with, very responsive and thoughtful in the details, instructions and suggestions they provide. Book some time there, you won't be disappointed!

“Amazing!”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2014

My wife and I have been looking for a cabin this nice for 3 winters now and then we found this gem! The second you walk in you can smell the pine wood that surrounds you and how clean the cabin is. The cabin is loaded with beautiful woods and phenomenal views everywhere you look. The views are totally unobstructed as there is not a single other thing in sight...besides nature. The cathedral ceilings and open floor plan make the main room feel huge while maintaining its cozy feeling. We loved the granite counter tops, the fireplace and especially the old reclaimed wood for the main support beams on the ceiling and the mantle on the fireplace. The beds were super comfortable, we didn't even want to get up in the morning, but the beautiful cabin and views were calling. We went out snowshoeing one day (which neither of us have ever done) and that was a blast. Obviously the main room was the most impressive, but the reading/TV room was our favorite. So comfortable and cozy with a beautiful view of the water. During our week we got to literally watch the lake freeze in front of our eyes. We were waiting for snow all week and finally the morning we were to leave the snow came down for a couple hours. I wish it snowed all week because it was gorgeous. We really did feel like we were in a snow globe. There is no doubt we will be back, next year cannot come fast enough. Simply amazing! Aaron & Megan

“Little "peace" of paradise”

We stumbled on this cabin while looking for a place to rent for a long weekend. It was obvious from the pictures that this place was a cut above many of the available properties, but even the pictures do not do it justice. The cabin is cozy without being cramped, well-appointed and warmly decorated, and the views are beautiful. It was great to find a place with so much privacy, but still within driving distance of stores and restaurants. We spent a relaxing weekend reading, walking, cooking great meals, and drinking wine by the fire. It was wonderful and we will definitely be back.

“Excellent Stay”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2013

My husband and I were married on Sept. 7th and we stayed here on our honeymoon. We could not have asked for a nicer place to spend the week. Everything was perfect. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to stay in the area.

“We loved it!”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2013

That seems to sum it up! The cabin was beautiful, cozy, and so comfortable, the views were stunning, we spent a lot of time sitting outside listening to the wildlife and staring at the scenery. We appreciated all the books and maps for ideas of where to hike. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to get away and appreciate nature!! Maura was also very quick to respond to any questions we had before arriving, which gave us great peace of mind. We hope to return!!

“A stay you won't regret!”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2013

I went for a second time in June 2013 to the cabin (first time Fall 2012). The cabin is absolutely gorgeous. Extremely well maintained and clean, and tastefully decorated. Both times I felt at home as I stepped inside the cabin. If you like hiking, I strongly recommend going to snowy mountain (it's worth the drive). The view is breathtaking (when the sky is clear). I recommend this cabin - you won't regret it! My only advice would be to bring a sufficient amount of groceries with you as the grocery store in Speculator offers a limited choice.

“Fabulous cottage”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2013

We stayed for a week with our two teenage kids and had a glorious time. New house at an old location, perfect amenities - all new - right on the outlet to gorgeous Lake Piseco. We prepared all our meals in the kitchen, buying food on the way up and then again at the market in Speculator, 20 minutes away. You could spend a year hiking the nearby trails without exhausting your opportunities. Waterfalls, mountain-top views, and kayaking. Wildlife. Solitude. We're definitely heading back.

“Excellent location and accommodation”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2013

We stayed for three days in May and were delighted. Excellent service, beautifully appointed and furnished accommodation and a great location. An excellent choice if you enjoy kayaking and wildlife, peace and quiet. We saw beaver, otter, bald eagle and much more.
