“Wonderful hosts, tranquil/ safe location, and a car! Couldn't h”

Reviewed 8 May 2014

I had read previous reviews and I picked this property based on those. We were not disappointed. Veron was waiting for us when arrived and actually helped us unload our belongings from taxi. She showed us around the villa and provided us with a local phone, car keys, and her number and made it clear, if she could help us in any way, she would. She also spent about 1.5 hours showing us where the best beaches and restaurants were in the area. While driving from spot to spot, she was also able to line us up with a boat charter company at a great rate! She knows everyone and has great relationships with hotels and businesses which benefited us greatly. The time she spent with us was invaluable. We would never have experienced as much of what the island had to offer without it. Rob is also a tremendous guy. We were able to see him perform at a local hot spot one night and I would recommend getting a reservation to be safe. He has quite a local following. The place was packed and had a great vibe. Another night, we were at a gourmet restaurant and he surprised us when he showed up to play. We paid our bill and left when dinner was over. The next morning he showed up with a 10% credit to our bill! He has a great relationship with restaurant and ensures that they take care of his villa guests. The villa was a great place to wake up at every morning and enjoy a relaxing and peaceful start to our day. Try and make a sunrise if you can. It is well worth it! We spent our days off exploring, thanks to Veron. The villa was also a great place to settle back into at night after a long day. It was very peaceful and to watch the moon rise from the veranda. Villa Zatarra is a great value and I don't think it is possible to have better hosts for you stay!

“Perfect honeymoon!!!”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2014

We just recently stayed at this Villa for our honeymoon. It was an absolute blessing to have found this place on Trip advisor for our first official international vacation. We arrived to the villa with the help of Stanis, the driver the villa owners Veron and Rob had recommended. He was very prompt and professional from the beginning. He stopped by the grocery store on our way to the villa which made our first of 10 nights very special. Veron had a very nice bottle of wine waiting for us in the fridge. When we arrived Veron greeted us with open arms and gave us a great tour of the villa. We were blown away by the spacious Caribbean style floor plan and Indonesian architecture. Everything was at our fingers tips with a quick phone call to Veron. We had an absolutely amazing time. I highly recommend the golf course which is a quick walk for breakfast or lunch. Very reasonable for a lazy afternoon for Piton on tap. We were able to use the car at the villa which made afternoon jaunts easy. We would call Stanis in the event we wanted a nice dinner with wine. Highly recommend lunch at the cove, Marjeries at the Cas-n-bas beach, La Terrace for fine French cuisine, the Big Chef for steak and the Bread Basket for breakfast. We enjoyed the half land half sea tour led by Stanis. There was many days we didn't even want to leave the Villa. My wife and I will be returning as long as Rob and Veron own the property.

“Serene and scenic - the perfect beach getaway”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2014

We stayed at Villa Zatara for one week for a break from the cold hustle and bustle of NYC. The accommodations are as lovely as pictured. The location is perfectly situated, close to many quaint and beautiful beaches as well as the golf course and local restaurants. Rob and Vernon are lovely hosts, gracious and welcoming. They took us around to get us aquainted and even provided a local cellphone for our use while we were there. We had amazing massages right under the stars from a fantastic therapist who was only a phone call away. A perfect getaway!

“The Caribbean way of life”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2012

We have enjoyed the perfect location of the villa in the lovely island of St Lucia. Villa Zatarra is very comfortable and features all what is expected for great holidays. In addition the owners are cocooning their guests from start to finish. Enjoy your rum punch around the pool and let the good time rolls.

Response from the owner Thankyou for your review Daniel. See you soon on your return..

“New fans of Villa Zatarra”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2011

Staying at Villa Zatarra was a huge part of our St. Lucia experience for my husband, sister, and me. The house was beyond our expectations and even better than the pictures. The villa is spacious and beautifully furnished. We especially loved the comfy day bed, hammock, pool, peaceful atmosphere, and gorgeous views of the atlantic Ocean. The kitchen is well stocked with spices, tea, serve ware, and most appliances. Other nice touches include a local cell phone, wireless Internet, daily housekeeping, cable TV, AC in the bedrooms, electronic safe, hairdryers, converters, tourism resources, and books left by past visitors. The attentive housekeeper respected our privacy by cleaning after we left for the day. Veron and Rob are very gracious proprietors. From the moment we sent our first inquiry, they couldn't have been more helpful. They quickly responded to our emails and were extremely welcoming. We enjoyed Veron's driving tour of the neighborhood, complete with the best beaches to visit, stunning views, and her favorite espresso shop. She and Rob can offer plenty of recommendations of places to visit or eat. Veron even helped us make some dining and touring arrangements. The villa is in a mostly residential area called Cap Estate-about a 5-minute drive to Rodney Bay and near several nice resorts with well-kept beach areas you can visit. It is near two grocery stores, so we stocked up on breakfast food, snacks, and drinks. Rodney Bay has countless restaurants of all varieties, night spots, and a marina. Since our trip had more rain than expected, we appreciated having plenty of lounging space while waiting for the sun. Be sure to rent a car so you can visit other parts of the island. We had no problems getting around or finding parking. We highly recommend Villa Zatarra and can't thank the Taylors enough for their hospitality. Our one regret? We were unable to see Rob perform! Maybe next time...

“Fantastic in all Respects”

Reviewed 8 Dec 2010

This is simply a great place to stay. It is extremely clean, very quiet, and supremely relaxing. The owners are lovely people. It is convenient for visiting a few towns close by (one of which has large grocery stores and a lot of bigger restaurants, the other of which has some inexpensive and smaller local spots to eat), but not the best if you want to spend a lot of time exploring the central or southern part of the island. We took a boat cruise down the Carribean side of the island with one of the owner's friends, which was a lot of fun and a nice way to avoid spending hours driving the windy roads (which we also did, and which was interesting and scenic in its own respects). The villa is also close to three large resorts that have nice swimming beaches you can use. You will not regret staying here!

“heaven getaway”

Reviewed 6 Dec 2010

Wanted to escape from the stressful city life and lost in the idyllic relaxing getaway with my family. Villa Zatarra is the perfect choice. We are very pleased with our staying and our experience is a memorable. It is a fantastic villa to enjoy the lazy mornings and the breath taken sunrise on the atlantic, the private pool for your cool splashing on the hot days in the Caribbean but we also enjoy a glass of wine in the tranquility on a moonlight evening accompanied by a soft jazz melody in a comfortable setting with full amenities and modern design. Built in the perfect location in the heart of the most prestigious location of the island; trips to the mall can be as easy as can be and when you are ready for a night hangout; you are where you should be. Our selves and our children had the best vacation ever! Friendly and so welcome you wish you could stay more. Just pack your bathing suite, sun screen , put up your smile and Villa Zatarra will take care the rest for you. We had a great time and it will definitely be our choice again for our next visit to the island.

“Great Villa In St. Lucia”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2010

I stayed at Villa Zatarra in april. I travelled with a friend who was attending a wedding. We found the hotels to be too generic and wanted to make the best out of our visit to the island so we stayed at this villa. The contact with the owners was easy and very frequent. My emails were responded to in a timely manner and all my options were presented to me. Upon arrival, the owner Veron greeted us with such warmth. We got an "orientation" to the place and within half hour we were both lounging by the beautful pool up front. The decor is divine, the ambience is superb and the atmosphere is just what any western tourist needs (at least i think so...the hustle and bustle of NY gets to me). I would recommend this palce to anyone..(as i have already). I have already made plans to return only this time it will be a much longer stay. P.S. We were able to take in some jazz one evening, the owner Rob, was playing at one of the hotels on the island and we enjoyed his beautiful sounds while watching a magnificent sunset and sipping on island "rum punch".

“Another satisfied Scot”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2010

Margaret and I went to St Lucia in april and stayed at Villa Zatarra. I really cannot add any more than she has said. It was truly a wonderful holiday and we will be going back there early next year. Rob is a "Star" in St Lucia, so well known by everybody for his Sax playing. Whenever we went to see him play, because we were staying at his Villa, we were treated as locals by everyone. What a wonderful experience. We took up his suggestion to go and spend a Friday evening at anse la Raye for the fish evening where we could wander around, buy fish, floats, lambi, all cooked at street stalls - and no problems with the food. The Piton beers were good as well, and so cheap ! Just go there, you will never regret it. By the way, a couple of good evenings at home, with the barbecue, watching the sunset, dipping in the pool, is such a memorable experience. There was just not enough time.

“A wonderful holiday”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2010

Everything about our holiday and the stay at Villa Zatarra was wonderful. Our hosts, Rob and Veron could not have been more helpful. We were met by their taxi at the airport and greeted at the Villa by them, shown round and made to settle in to such a well appointed villa. The comfort could not have been better. The air conditioned bedrooms were so comfortable and the en suite bathrooms so luxurious, it was better than home. The balcony outside the upstaira bedroom was so bright and breezy and we so enjoyed the hammock !! The kitchen was superbly equipped with everything we could have wanted, and the living and dining areas were just luxury. Outside, the pool was just what everone needs and the patio and barbecue areas were both good for the sun and, in the shade of the palm fronds, wonderfully cool when we wanted that. The views over Cas En Bas beach and the sunsets made the whole experience idyllic. Rob and Veron, as they live ther, gave us a host of local information, so we could choose where to go for the best beaches, Rodney Bay, Cas En Bas and others, the best night life, both local and at the international hotels, the best routes down to the Pitons, Soufriere, Anse la raye, Anse Chastanet, and, unforgettably Gros Islet for its Friday Night Party - held for the locals as well as visitors. Villa Zatarra in St Lucia really is a great place to go.
